For 2001, improved cloth and velour interior materials come standard in the GL and GLS trim. Side curtain airbags that offer head protection for front and rear passengers are introduced this year, and steering wheel controls for the audio and cruise systems are available on GLS/GLX trim models. Optional 17-inch wheels and a sport suspension can be had on GLX models and GLS models with the 1.8T or VR6 engine. The Wolfsburg Edition returns as a limited-edition model in early 2001 -- standard features include sport suspension, bolstered sport seats and 16-inch BBS wheels. All models get redesigned cupholders and a trunk entrapment release button. A wagon arrives in the spring of 2001.

WOW I love this car!! - 2001 Volkswagen Jetta

The handling is amazing, the shifting is smoother than anything I have ever driven. Take off is the best part. And I can fit all three of my kid seats in back! Thank you Volkswagen for making such a beautiful car

If youre also careful the engine shouldnt break nothing should really go wrong unless its something you did or the previous owner did. Also it should come with a cd player or at least mine did. its great reliable and the best car to have

What a Ride - 2001 Volkswagen Jetta

I havent had any of the problems that others have had and have experienced great service at my local dealer. My Jetta is solidly built and its living up to my expectations.

By Gary_y - February 10 - 10:00 amI had a very good experience with my Jetta, bought it in 2001 have 60000 miles on it, never let me down or had any kind of problems, changed tires at around 45K and rear brakes, front brakes have almost no wear even at 60K, car likes synchetic oils, overall solid build quality.

By whitewolf - September 14 - 10:00 amthis is my first vee dub. love the german feel. i find myself driving with the windows down so i can listen to the turbo whistle. love the 1 touch windows and sunroof. the monsoon rocks. sounds better and louder then bose stereos ive heard and it was only a couple hundred upgrade. lots fo features for money. the whole wolfsburg package is great with the bbs wheels, sport seats, leather wheel and shifter. i dressed mine up with a spoiler, mud guards, tinted side marker and vw. chrome exhaust tips. in side i have the new vw aluminum dash kit. it personalizes it. i havent seen another white one in a year. after my lease is up ill buy another one

By lovin the vdub - August 3 - 10:00 amI love the car. Upset that the 2001 has only 155 hp and the 2002 has 185, but these things can be fixed. Easy to work with and one of the best manual cars I have driven. I put about 20,000 miles on my car a year for work and I have never been uncomfortable for a second. Nothing like the feeling of driving in 6 inches of snow and not having to worry about the ABS or traction control not working. I was passing most of the all wheel drive vehicles.

What other car can you spin the tires in and at the same time get 53 miles per gallon on long trips. The build quality is very high, and VW has one of the best interiors ever made in this car.

By sys3175 - May 11 - 2:00 amI saw this car sitting at a lot near my home when I was in the market for a new car, I actually wasnt all that interested in a used vechicle but due to financing problems I was running into I decided to give the dealership a try. Within 15mins I was on a testdrive and immediately noticed how well the car handled, with 40,000 miles on it; it still ran as if it was brand ,new I had driven an Impala SS (2004), Malibu (2004), Toyota Camary 2004 and a few others and nothing came close to it except the Imapala which was over double the price. Everything about this car feels quality, the interior, exterior, door handles..

Poor Mans BMW - 2001 Volkswagen Jetta
By Dmoore - April 5 - 10:00 amI bought this car brand new in 2001 and have no major problems. I also drove it across country and it handled like a dream. I did have to have new brakes at 15,000 miles which I thought was too soon, but other than that this car is fantastic! I have had a previous VW so if you are going to purchase one the extended warranty is a must. VW is expensive to repair, but the quality and style is worth it. RESEARCH the car prior to purchasing it. The cloth collects tons of dust and hair, thats why I bought leather. Ask people who own VW for opions then make a decision.

Great Birthday Gift - 2001 Volkswagen Jetta
By Jason - March 29 - 3:10 amI have had my 2001 Volkswagen Jetta for about a week now and just love it. Previously having a VW, I knew that I was getting in to something worth my while. The 1.8T engine and manual tranny are near perfect. The premium sound system sounds great. Overall, this car is perfect if you want performance (0-60 in 8.2 sec), good gas milage (25/31), and a a reliable nameplate in Volkswagen. I definitely recommend this car, its a lot of fun!
