Overview & Reviews
The 2008 Volkswagen Jetta sees a few changes. Most notably, the sedan gets a bump up in power, thanks to a revised 2.5-liter standard engine good for 170 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque. Trim levels get new names: S, SE and SEL. The 2.0T engine is available only on the newly revised limited-edition Wolfsburg Edition model and the Volkswagen GLI. (Volkswagen has dropped the "Jetta" name in a move to make the GLI similar to the GTI. The GLI is reviewed separately.) A power two-way recline feature for the driver seat is now standard across all trims.
- Pleasant ride, high-end interior materials, long list of safety features, meticulous build quality.

Should have bought a Chevy - 2008 Volkswagen Jetta
By VW Jetta - September 4 - 12:06 pmThis is my 2nd attempt at owning a VW. The first one a Fox was less than stellar but I figured a lot of time had gone by so I would give VW another shot. So I traded my Honda Accord for a 08 Jetta 5 cyl. 5 spd. it is a lot more comfortable and the gas econ. is about the same. Now a almost a year into ownership and about 12k on the od. the car has developed an issue its missfired on the 3rd cyl. and ate the coil pack a week later and less than 500 miles it did it again although I wont know if its the same problem until it goes back to the shop. I will be looking into the Lemon Law soon. DO NOT BUY THIS CAR JUNK! I had similar prob. with the first one. Its too bad overall a good car.

Awesome car - 2008 Volkswagen Jetta
By fho2008 - August 19 - 10:00 amLess than six months and less than 6K on the car but wow. What a fun car. Talk about bang for the buck, I drove a GLI the day before, knew I wasnt getting that, and also drove the 5 cyl. When I go back the next day, all they have, in Jettas, are Wolfs. Wow GLI performance for the SE price! I love the fact that this car costs less than my two year old car did when it was new, and has way more features. This wont be my last VW.

New: Impressions by a Civc and Jetta Own - 2008 Volkswagen Jetta
By Boyd82 - August 6 - 12:16 pmAfter a few days with my Jetta, Im amazed at the detail of the interior and exterior compared to my Civic. Too early to really gauge the fuel economy, but the performance of the car in handling, power, and braking is superb. Besides all that: it is super comfortabl to drive and the stick shift is easy and smooth. Im looking forward to many years with it.

Jetta - 2008 Volkswagen Jetta
By mico - July 8 - 7:33 pmOverall - a great car. Power of a V6 with gas mileage of a 4 cylinder, tons of room, feel very solid. Great value for the money - lease is very affordable If you feel like there is not enough power - just shift the transmission to S mode, and it flies.

Still lovin my Jetta - 2008 Volkswagen Jetta
By John - May 17 - 11:23 amI have owned my Jetta for a year now. I love driving it more every day. I have not had one problem with the car. It is great to drive around town or cross country. I have driven a lot of cars in my life and I dont believe you can get a better value for the money than a Jetta. It may not be the best at any one thing but overall It does everything well. For the price of the vehicle this is pretty hard to beat.

This car saved my life....really - 2008 Volkswagen Jetta
By Amanda - March 22 - 6:33 amI can not say enough about my Jetta. I bought my Jetta only 4 months ago and last Friday night someone ran a stop sign going 60 mph and I was traveling 65 mph...and I slammed into him. I am a single mother of 3 children, all three of my children were in that car. We all walked away with bruises from the seat belts that is it! Today the insurance comp. told me my car is totaled. It was amazing how the VW absorbed the hit. The highway patrol told me I made a smart choice in cars. Needless to say I will be getting a new Jetta as soon as all this insurance stuff is over. Can not say enough!

loved my vw jetta se - 2008 Volkswagen Jetta
By bijoupali - February 18 - 11:30 amIve owned a 2008 VW jetta se for one year. I absolutely loved it. Its comfortable. Its fun to drive. Its reliable. The interior is very roomy and sexy. The exterior is also pretty. I drove the car in icy weather and it had very good control. The esp in it actually does work and makes it easy to regain control if you do begin to lose control. The only downfall to this car that I can remember is that the mpg isnt nearly as good as VW says it is. Its closer to 24/25 mpg not the 32/33 mpg that they advertise. Overall, its a great car and worth every Penny. Im actually about to buy another one, because I absolutely loved it.

2008 Jetta Odometer off - 2008 Volkswagen Jetta
By Michael-Jetta - February 8 - 7:30 amI had an odometer problem with my 2008 jetta, it was off 4.8 miles for every 29.3 miles driven. They fixed it at 20,434 miles, total extra miles on car - 3,347.5. They tell me they reset the speedometer to specs. This fixed the problem, but VW refuses to adjust my lease for the miles or refund the money for the miles. They say the fix couldnt have fixed the odometer, Why did they make the adjustment if they knew it wouldnt fix it???. After complaining to BBB of Ohio, Volkswagen and the dealer settled for the cost to buy extra miles on my lease. You would be wise to verify your odometers miles to another car or two to see if its accurate. Ive seen other similiar complaints on the Web.

3 year lease end love it/hate it still pt. 1 - 2008 Volkswagen Jetta
By vincef329 - January 26 - 8:18 amI have leased my salsa red Jetta SE for almost 3 years now, mileage up to 32,000. I originally wrote the love it/hate it review and want to expand on that. Styling is still modern after 3 years, still a good looking car inside and out. The leatherette still looks great as all other interior components do also, even the carpet. I live in the NE so the carpet sees its fair share of wet and snowy shoes, still cleans up well. No problems with any interior components, all are like new. Exterior paint has chipped considerably, how very sad. Seems only the red paint suffered this as I have "red" about it on the internet. Above the rear license plate the paint has completely come off and rust has
