This Year's Model Updates:

The Tundra continues into 2006 without major changes, though an adoption of new and more accurate SAE engine measuring procedures by Toyota has resulted in a slight drop in the amount of stated power for the V6 and V8 engines.

Pros:
  • Smooth and refined V8 engine, Toyota build quality and reliability, nimble off-road, most carlike of the full-size trucks.
Cons:
  • Lacks serious brawn for towing and hauling, narrow cabin, mediocre seat comfort.

  • Finally a Tundra - 2006 Toyota Tundra

Just purchase this truck last week and I love it! It has exactly what I needed without the extra junk. I really like the rear window roll down feature and that it has a defroster. The ride is superior to any of the other trucks that I test drove. Also like the taction control option. Have not tested for mileage yet (only 100 miles). Excellent interior insulation from noise.

We did our research, including he said & they said. We test drove The F150, GMC, Chev, Dodge. For us the Tundra was it. Drives really well, silent running, lots of room. V-8 is powerful, and does an excellent job in meeting our needs. Work, show, or play we feel secure. Tight, solid, speed, and handles as good and better than many cars. Very, very easy to handle on the road, parking, and lots of leg room. We are just so very please with the selection. None of the "well maybe we should have gotten this one or that one" we have never looked back nor have we questioned our decision. When driving my car and I see a Tundra I feel like running home to get our truck too.Very Satisifed Tundra owners

  • Solid Truck. - 2006 Toyota Tundra

Have the 2006 Toyota Tundra Limited. Best truck. Comfortable, fun to drive, luxury interior, and solid reliability. The truck has 100,000 miles on it and no problems whatsoever. Maintenance is cheap. MPG isnt great, but it is a truck with V8 power. Solid offroader, great for firewooding and hunting. You wont find a better value. This truck defensibly definitely beats the American competitors.

  • Finally, and well worth the wait!!! - 2006 Toyota Tundra

Ever since I got wise and sold my GMC Sierra, I knew I would buy a Toyota if they released a crew cab full size model. Well, they did, and to me they got it right. It may not be the fastest, or the nicest interior, but the overall fit and finish, says Toyota. If you wanted it could be the first and last truck you ever buy. Toyotas are known for quality, durability and reliability and this truck delivers on all 3, plus it has the best body lines of any of the big trucks out there.

  • best half ton made - 2006 Toyota Tundra

I am very pleased wth the Toyota Tundra. It rides like a large sedan and has the smoothest transmission I have ever driven. It is usually not possible to tell when it shifts other than watching the tachometer. The acceleration is excellent. The seats are extremely comfortable and the rear seats are as comfortable, roomy, and solidly supporting as the front seats.

I researched for six months and test drove the Titan and the Silverado before I purchased my Tundra. My Tundra is a blast to drive, great color, everybody I meet likes my truck, my wife approves, the daughter took off in it for about an hour. A great vehicle which should last a long, long time. This truck looks like it can eat a Honda Pilot, Ridgeline, most domestic pickups and sedans.

  • I love my Tundra - 2006 Toyota Tundra

Thus far, I love this truck. Ive owned it for 2 weeks and love getting in it to drive to work, home, anywhere! The sound of the V8 humming is great. The feel of the Off-road suspension is nice and stiff, but not overly stiff. Theres plenty of get-up and you feel as if the truck is always pushing forward as you accelerate (that is, the automatic shifts very smoothly without loosing any power during shifts). Turning corners are a breeze in this truck. While driving, you feel on top of the world with the 17" wheels and rims added to the 4x4 off-road suspension. All-in-all, this truck is a dream to drive and overall, gas mileage isnt too bad for a truck. Id highly recommend it.

This truck rides very smooth, everyone who has taken a ride cannot believe how smooth and quiet it is. The powertrain is very refined.

  • 06 Tundra One Reliable Truck - 2006 Toyota Tundra

This is my second Tundra, owned the 2000 when it first came out, with never a problem. The 06 had recall for new lower ball joints, never had a problem with it. The 2000 was never in the shop, not once. The 06 as a recall as mentioned and 2 oil changes but I usually do my own. This is one reliable truck very responsive and tough with good fuel economy for its size. I would not hesitate to own another, sold on the quality of the vehicle. The ride is excellent, have made several trips to haul various things. Pulls my utility trailer loaded and with the bed loaded too very well. Can put a 1/2 ton on the tailgate and ride. The truck can haul a heavy load. Tundra is one solid truck.

Performance (4.7L) is powerful and smooth. Bucket seats are very comfortable. Quality, fit & finish, reliability is outstanding. Resale value (Toyota is always in demand as a used vehicle). Transmission is smooth. Ride is incredible.
