After being fully redesigned last year, the Toyota Tundra enters 2008 with only minor changes, such as the expansion of the base "Tundra Grade" trim to all body styles and additional standard features for the SR5 and Limited trim levels.
- A wide range of cab and bed styles, potent 5.7-liter V8, brawny tow ratings, spacious passenger quarters, numerous safety and convenience features.
- Cabin has a lot of hard plastic and a few ergonomic flaws.

What a truck, amazing - 2008 Toyota Tundra
By morsnow - December 28 - 10:26 pmMy first Tundra was a 2000 SR5 and after 8 years of faithful service I traded up to a 2008 DC, 4X4, LTD, TRD. The new Tundra is amazing, powerful, rides good, smooth and quiet. Lots of room for the family and can haul anything you want. I am getting 15 mpg in town and over 20 mpg on the highway which is way better than my 00. The JBL sounds great and its nice having the Bluetooth wireless for my cell. The brakes are impressive and can stop it on a dime. I have the TRD sway bar on the rear and it handles like a sports car. If you are in the market for a full size truck you need to take a close look at the new Tundra.

Great Truck But... - 2008 Toyota Tundra
By Katzat - December 4 - 2:00 pmPicked up the truck a week ago and have put 300 miles on it. The interior comfort is outstanding although I am 62" tall, and my head is almost on the ceiling. Seats are far better than previous models and far more comfortable than the competitors I looked at. The rear seat area is huge and plenty comfortable even for me. Interior quality seems better than previous models and offers a quiet ride. The ride has impressed even my wife, and she loves to drive it. The power is noticeable and I am sure it will tow the boat effortlessly. 15 mpg in burbs, but should improve with break in. I am concerned about the quality of the paint as it does not seem to be nearly as good as our 2004 Sequoia

Very Satisfied - 2008 Toyota Tundra
By Bpa49 - November 7 - 9:13 amBefore buying I researched and read reviews about every brand of truck in this class. The Tundra was by far the most vehicle for the money especially after the rebates that were going on in July, 08. The SR5 trim level has all the most common standard features that you would not have on a similar priced Ford or Chevy. Has plenty of power with the 5.7, very comfortable to drive, quiet, and even the gas mileage isnt bad for a 6000 lb 381 hp vehicle. I travel 42 miles per day on the hilly interstates of western PA and average 15.6 mpg. On a 600 mile trip I averaged 18+. Only complaint is sometimes the transmission downshifts a little too easily even going down a moderate hill.

Overall A Great Truck - 2008 Toyota Tundra
By JAG - July 27 - 12:16 amI owned a Ridgeline before this one but that would be tough to compare because they are made different and there is plus and minus in both, but they are the 2 best quality built trucks on the market the ones that down talk them dont know what a truck is all about or they just have bad luck and trust me as far a gas mileage a lot of people exaggerate about it. I have a heavy foot and I do mostly in town driving and I get about 14 to 15 which is not bad for a V8. Ive owned a 97 Ford F150 ext. cab 4.6 V8 and a 04 Chevy Trailblazer ext. with a 6cy. that got worse and all of the other brands have a lot more problems.

By Oscar - July 26 - 9:40 amPowerful truck with an amazing Intelligent technology, it wont get stuck in the mud. Trust me, I have regular tires in mine and I had to go though mud and dirt and this truck just goes by like its nothing. Good warranty, powerful, nice design. The only bad things are the seats are a lil too hard but not big deal, If you want a tough truck this is the one. I love mine.

By bassman - July 20 - 5:00 amJust turned 10,000 miles and I am just as pleased with this truck as the day I picked it up. Had taken it in for the gas pedal recall and also had the radio replaced. Other then that, this is the best truck Ive ever owned. After 3 Chevys and Dodge Im glad I listened to my mechanic. When he said Dodge, GM and Ford make pretty good trucks. But their not a Tundra!

By Rob - May 27 - 6:53 amI have been a GM guy for decades. I came out of a 2005 Chevy Avalanche and was going to get a 2008 Avalanche until I test drove the Tundra Crewmax. What a vehicle! I test drove the best GM had to offer, the 2008 GMC Sierra Denali, and this beat it hands down in power, quietness, smooth ride, interior storage, and all the electronic gadgets. Love this truck.

By Dick Trout - February 6 - 11:26 amThere is an occasional transmission "clunk" when coasting at about 35 mph. Other than that, this is the best truck I have ever owned. We haul an 8,000 pound trailer about 15,000 miles per year, often in mountains. Plenty of power! Often have 2,000 pounds in bed. truck doesnt even "squat". Truck has temperature gauge. Would also like a standard compass. Repair service of any kind has never been necessary

By pushm - December 30 - 12:50 pmI was looking for the replacement of my old F150. I did my research (here at Edmunds as well :)) and just for the kicks decided to stop at the Toyota dealership. Ive heard bad things about earlier TTs. I was not really going to buy one. But after testdriving TT with 5.7 6A I turned around and bought the truck. Just like that. No other trucks to test, no hesitations, no regrets. Ive been driving it for a month now. Two trips to skiing areas (lots of snow). Couple of long rides on the freeway. IT IS NICE. Theres nothing that Ive driven before (truckwise) come even close.
