This Year's Model Updates:

After being fully redesigned last year, the Toyota Tundra enters 2008 with only minor changes, such as the expansion of the base "Tundra Grade" trim to all body styles and additional standard features for the SR5 and Limited trim levels.

Pros:
  • A wide range of cab and bed styles, potent 5.7-liter V8, brawny tow ratings, spacious passenger quarters, numerous safety and convenience features.
Cons:
  • Cabin has a lot of hard plastic and a few ergonomic flaws.

  • A lot better than you think - 2008 Toyota Tundra

This truck tows my 8500# work trailer so well that I dont even cringe when a stop light turns yellow at the worst time. Mileage is a lot better than I thought it would be. I have had 8.9 towing to 21,1 HWY, driving it like a hypermiler.

  • What a great truck - 2008 Toyota Tundra

This vehicle drives very well for a large truck and has a good deal of storage in the rear seat area. Towing our travel trailer is a breeze and the engine feels like it isnt working hard at all. This truck should last a long time and Toyota build quality is excellent.

  • Awesome power - 2008 Toyota Tundra

What a great truck this is! We have had trucks from all the majors, just recently had an 03 F250 diesel. Then come our Tundra and all I can say is WOW. The powertrain in this thing is great, sleek styling lines, tow capabilities and Toyota quality is what sold us. The interior plastics could be better, ride can get a little funky over expansion joints at high speeds. In 6 months been into dealer for squealing belt twice, under warranty. We live in a GM town, and have always tried to drive something different. All the Chevys and Gmcs tend to all look alike and there are lots of them around. Cant wait to tow our camper this year.

  • My Bulldog - 2008 Toyota Tundra

Well it looks like a Bulldog sitting in the drive, just waiting to go off to work! I am very pleased and proud of the whole vehicle. Another fine Toyota! I have a few complaints though. See below.

  • 3rd great tundra - 2008 Toyota Tundra
    By -

3rd tundra, first one was an 00 sr5 reg. cab., long box 4wd. 2nd one was an 05 reg cab long box 4wd, which was used heavily this last year in Wisconsins cruddy winter. The 4wd held up fine after a beating. The new tundra rides nice (a bit more jittery than the 05, 00) but has great room inside. It was really hard to find int. wipers and cruise control in this model, looks like a ploy to have everyone buy the sr5.

  • Converted domestic buyer - 2008 Toyota Tundra

I have read a few negative reviews and feel some buyers will not be happy with any vehicle they buy. I actually feel bad for any manufacturer that does sell them a vehicle. Inherently all vehicles will have some kind of type weird annoyance and as long as it doesnt keep me from enjoying my vehicle, I dont care. No car is silent inside and a V8 does suck down gas. But you will find tons of negative comments as if no one knew this getting in to a 381hp monster. This truck cleans up well and I never go a day without people checking it out. The Crewmax is simply the best solution for people with children who do not want a SUV.

  • Better every day - 2008 Toyota Tundra

I love this truck - and the more I drive it the more I like it. The nav system is great. Bluetooth for cell phone is nice. Powertrain is amazing - smooth and strong. My kids love the back seat room. Get a tube step, its a big step up without one if youre less than 6ft. MPG is poor & getting worse(13-14 mixed driving), & my friends DC 4x2 5.7 is beating me by 4mpg, which is a big mpg hit for the CM 4x4. Reading dash gauges is like looking at them thru a tube-these could be better. Gas gauge is VERY pessimistic, says Im empty when I still have 5 gal. Reflection of clock on windshield at night. I get lots of positive comments on the truck. I dont miss my F250 Crew diesel at all.

This thing is huge, imposing, intimidating and fast - a Bmw X5 4.8 could not beat me. Can haul anything you throw at it, while carrying 5 people in comfort. I owned first generation Tundra which was already great, this thing is much better. I am very happy with this vehicle and like driving it more than my weekend fighter, a e39 Dinan M5, which says a lot.

  • 08 4WD Tundra CrewMax Limited + TRD - 2008 Toyota Tundra
    By -

Never imagined Id be driving a Toyota after driving Fords (Explorer, 3 F-150s and F-250) for almost 20 years. Though Ive only had this Tundra for two weeks, I have to say that it far exceeds all expectations I ever had for a vehicle, much less a truck. Where has this truck been my whole life??? Go drive one - you have to experience the new Tundra for yourself.

  • Exceptional! Power, MPG, 4x4, Comfort - 2008 Toyota Tundra
    By -

Exceptional value for $27,200 for a new 2008 Tundra DC 5.7L 4WD bench seat long bed! This truck has taken me where only jeeps can go (major 4x4 trails) and got me back. Zero maintenance problems. 18 MPG on highway! I can seat 6 comfortably. Handicapped wife sleeps on back bench no problem! Power is amazing for stock. Tows 20 camper trailer as if it isnt even there! Note- I dont work for Toyota, I just LOVE the truck!
