This Year's Model Updates:

The Tundra continues into 2006 without major changes, though an adoption of new and more accurate SAE engine measuring procedures by Toyota has resulted in a slight drop in the amount of stated power for the V6 and V8 engines.

Pros:
  • Smooth and refined V8 engine, Toyota build quality and reliability, nimble off-road, most carlike of the full-size trucks.
Cons:
  • Lacks serious brawn for towing and hauling, narrow cabin, mediocre seat comfort.

Salsa Red color is gorgeous. The 4-wheel drive is as impeccable as my 2000 Tundra Access Cab. The ride is quiet and comfortable at all speeds. My wife loves the heated seats and steering wheel-mounted radion controls. Great visibility (taller than my 2000 Tundra vecause of the 18" wheels). The power rear window is great (and quiet) for open air driving. Hardly know my boat trailer is there when pulling it. Mileage is excellent (18.3 mpg overall since purchase).

This is the second tundra that I have owned. I have been very happy with the second so far and see no reason that should change. The only reason I purchased the new truck was for the back seat. The new truck has more power, features, and especially ROOM. I have not take the new truck 4- wheeling yet, but the old (2000 sr5 4x4) was always more than capable. The new truck also has limited slip and ABS that the old does not. Great truck very comfortable, and reliable.

I have had my truck for a month now and love it. It rides like a truck but it is so quiet inside. This is the last year of this body style so I wanted to get it before it changes. I did my homework and you just cant beat a Toyota Tundra. On my first tank of gas I got 16.7 mpg, no not teriffic but hey it is a V-8 truck. It has plenty of get up and go and looks great.

  • Great Truck - 2006 Toyota Tundra

I agonized of my choice between the Chevy Silverado and Toyota Tundra. I have driven chevys for years, however I am more than happy with my choice of the Toyota Tundra. It is a great ride. It handles well and has adequate cabin space. I am a big guy and I fit very comfortably in the driver seat. The rear roll down window is a plus. The pay load and towing ability is satisfactory, it fits my families needs. Toyota service is second to none. Can improve gas mileage and storage space. I think you will love this truck.

  • Excellent Truck - 2006 Toyota Tundra

Great truck! Very quiet with a super smooth ride. Titan was too loud for me. Toyotas engine is very responsive and really moves the truck. The truck is long so make sure it will fit in your garage if you need it to. I think I am going to keep this one for a long time. Horse power went down in 06 due to some tpye of new calibration according to Toyota.

  • An Already Good Truck Gets Better - 2006 Toyota Tundra

As a happy ex-owner of a 2001 Toyota Tundra Sr-5 V-8 Access cab, I am even happier with my brand new 2006 Double cab v-8. I have so much fun driving this vehicle! Overall, the truck just got better over the years. I am so glad Toyota cares enough to keep their customers satisfied with dependable products.

  • My 2006 Tundra - 2006 Toyota Tundra

My 2006 Toyota Tundra is a great truck. It is much easier to drive than a F-150. It has a super charged 282 horsepower. With a 7100 pound towing capacity. It will deliver about 325 pounds torque. This truck is incredibly smooth. One thing the Tundra lacks is towing and horsepower. I hope to drive out my Tundra to at least 100000 miles. Then I will trade it in for a 07 Tundra truck

  • Very happy with Tundra - 2006 Toyota Tundra

Very nice truck! This is a big step- up for me. Wanted to be able to comfortably pull my 20 boat. Not a problem and I can see around it fairly well. I have cloth interior which is comfortable and firm. I have not pushed the motor hard yet as I only have about 700 miles on it. V8 is responsive and accelerates fine for me. The ride is soft but handles well, smooth on the highway with good visibility. Stock radio is just that. Looking at upgrades for radio. Controls are laid out well. Lots of storage for gadgets and stuff for driving. The interior is good quality and fit and finish is good. The exterior looks are great. The bed is very big and ready for whatever I put back there.

  • Best Truck I Ever Owned! - 2006 Toyota Tundra

This truck is excellent. Havent had it very long, but I love it! I have basic needs, but need the 8 bed, so I purchased the 2DR V6. Exceptional. Hoot to drive, looks great, responsive, very tight.
