This Year's Model Updates:

After being fully redesigned last year, the Toyota Tundra enters 2008 with only minor changes, such as the expansion of the base "Tundra Grade" trim to all body styles and additional standard features for the SR5 and Limited trim levels.

Pros:
  • A wide range of cab and bed styles, potent 5.7-liter V8, brawny tow ratings, spacious passenger quarters, numerous safety and convenience features.
Cons:
  • Cabin has a lot of hard plastic and a few ergonomic flaws.

As a family we needed room for everyone, this backseat is huge. The included safety equipment is a plus over other competitors. Bought a SR5 w/navigation (hard to find, but $8,000 less than a limited model) to get the rear view camera, includes bluetooth connection & upgraded stereo. Love the power of the 5.7, can tow the 19 ft boat (approx 4500 lb) without knowing its back there.

After looking at trucks for the entire fall, I settled on the Tundra. The big three have priced themselves out of range for a HD truck to me. Now with the HP and torque the 5.7 has the Tundra does outperform the others. This trim line has everything I need to use it as a work truck, so I saved quite a bit over the SR5 pkg.

Traded in a 2006 Tundra for this one. Love the huge interior and quiet ride. Everyone fits. Have the 5.7 and I easily pull a 25 ft camper with two sliders.

Small V8 performance and with its five passenger, hard top coupe styling, "cozy", intimate, and, very comfortable, four adult pass interior, coupled with decent gas mileage... makes it the perfect choice for a single "empty nester" like myself. The 21.5 MPG Hwy, is the "frosting on the cake", pretty amazing for a vehicle this size. The 60-40 split, flip up rear seat with under seat storage holds all my camping gear or whatever, securely locked. Plus, I can tow up to 5000lbs if I want... Great Truck!... Looks great, I get lots of compliments. Mine is White with Graphite, Bucket seats with Console... My traveling office.

This truck came with no body side moldings and none are available from Toyota. Toyota did put an "Event Data Recorder" in the Tundra. This records vehicle operation data to be used by Toyota if it is sued (the data can also be obtained by court order and used against the vehicle owner). Guess that is where the body side molding funds went. Other manufactures are doing the same, but Dodge, for instance, at least offers side molding as an option. It gets better. I tried to find the oil filter and couldnt. I got online and found owners complaining that it was installed above the skid plate. You have to removed it to get to the oil filter.

This truck performs great! It drives through the snow with ease, I have only had to use the 4-wheel drive a couple of times. It is such a great ride. When we go somewhere its a fight about whose vehicle we are going to take. (I usually win.)

  • Great with improvement needed - 2008 Toyota Tundra

First year, every thing was fine. MPG was steadily increasing. Now mileage stinks, 15.3, max. highway. The trailer towing wiring is in a vulnerable place under the bumper. It drags off when you go off-road. Lazy engineering. Put it in the bumper. The wipers have issues. Build up of snow/ice while driving will hang pass. side up in extreme weather. Now only one wiper works and it is going to dealer. Do not buy dealers remote start or steps. Remote starter too expensive, $600 and does not work or will not let you start it without getting out, locking the doors, then getting back in. Now it does not work at all even with new batts. Steps are too short to use to access bed. Otherwise great.

A very well built truck. Comfortable suspension with the necessary power to get the job done. Advice: test drive both the 5.7 vs. 4.7 and you decide the perfect HP needed for your lifestyle. Im satified with my 4.7 with a tow package and it carries the ponies! Yet if cost is not an issue 5.7 is the best choice.

  • TRUCK of the YEAR - 2008 Toyota Tundra

Test drove every truck in its class, and have to say that this is the full package. The best truck out there for the money. It blows every one of the other trucks out of the water. It comes with so many standard and safety features that with the other trucks if you added the same options they would cost more. Im very happy with the purchase and I just recommend that everyone test drive the Tundra and you will see why it is TRUCK of the YEAR!!!

  • Totally rocks - 2008 Toyota Tundra

Ive owned 2 Chevys and was headed towards an F-150 when I saw a review on the Tundra. I was upgrading to a 4 door and was looking for a family adventure vehicle with lots of space and the ability to get our gear in to the mountains. I drove the Crewmax Limited and bought it on the spot. The engine and transmission are powerful and silky smooth. The TRD package has everything you need to feel secure off road. The seating is extremely comfortable which was a major selling point and the cabin is almost dead quiet. This is a serious truck without a bone jaring truck feel. Ive talked to several other serious truck users who have owned every brand. They agree the Tundra is the best they have owned
