This Year's Model Updates:

After being fully redesigned last year, the Toyota Tundra enters 2008 with only minor changes, such as the expansion of the base "Tundra Grade" trim to all body styles and additional standard features for the SR5 and Limited trim levels.

Pros:
  • A wide range of cab and bed styles, potent 5.7-liter V8, brawny tow ratings, spacious passenger quarters, numerous safety and convenience features.
Cons:
  • Cabin has a lot of hard plastic and a few ergonomic flaws.

  • Towing dream come true! - 2008 Toyota Tundra

Pulling a stock trailer loaded with four horses and forgetting they are behind me, compared with other half tons and being kicked around the road at times! the stress free tundra ride is a dream and the hauling capacity sold me hands down!

  • This puppy has it all - 2008 Toyota Tundra

I had the old tundra with the 281HP (2006) and what a difference the 5.7L is compared. This puppy has what it takes, while I dont tow a lot, I know she has what it takes. Once you start her up, she is ready to go!!! My truck acts like a pit bull on a leash with a poodle walking in front of it. You can feel the power this piece of machine has as you speed up and slow down through the tranny. My truck is barely over a year and a half old and I have about 44k miles on it. Beside oil changes (60 bucks a pop) and the power steering fluid change, nothing has gone wrong. Im close to buying tires for my 18 inch rims, for 4 tires - firestone wants about 900, and sams club about 600 for michelins.

  • Best Truck I have Owned - 2008 Toyota Tundra

This truck has great power. Mileage from Austin to Dallas 20.9 running 70+. Does drop to 18.5 from Austin to W.Va. and back running hard. Pulled my pontoon boat up ramp with pontoon full of water. Enough weight to flatten all 4 trailer tires. Calculated weight to be in excess of 13000. Could not tell boat was behind. Wife is 49" and loves this truck. This truck is GREAT!!!!!!!!! Would buy again. Highly recommend!!!

  • A Work Truck AND an Luxury Car - 2008 Toyota Tundra

For the person who needs a Luxury Car but WANTS A TRUCK- I would suggest looking into the Tundra X-SP Package. The leather seats and carbon fiber accents throughout the dashboard and arm rests make this truck luxurious and sporty. The BBS wheels and 305/50R 20 Michellins give this truck the perfect look, stance, and a ride that rivals any luxury car I have ever ridden in. The backseat of the double cab is roomy enough for someone who is 62" to sit comfortably behind someone 62" in the drivers seat. And the truck handles like a DREAM! I have driven F150s, RAMs, and Titans and this truck out accelerates and handles all of them. I LOVE MY TRUCK!

  • 2008 Tundra Crewmax 5.7 Grade SB - 2008 Toyota Tundra
    By -

Soooo happy with this purchase. Space for 3 growing boys on long trips, ease of towing large RV trailer, budget, and safety were our main criteria for this purchase. We custom ordered a Grade (which is exceptionally equipped for a base model). Love it, love it, love it! Get 16-18 MPG when not hauling, much better than the 12-14 on my last Ford F-150 Crew. Really wanted head restraints and shoulder belts in all 3 rear seats for safety. Leave it to Toyota to also provide the only front bench seat with foldable middle seat (for armrest) or passsenger seat that also has shoulder belt and head restraint.

  • Roof rack troubles - 2008 Toyota Tundra
    By -

I choose Crew max, because of great cabin, but I really could use longer bed, for the business I do.I use this truck as a family truck too, so I needed a big cabin. Another thing that really frustrates me about this truck I cannot find roof rack that would work for my ladders. I need something heavy duty permanent, that also has sporty look to it. I can only find the roof rack that attaches to the side of the top of the door. Over all it a very good truck, but nit as practical as I hoped.

  • very satisfied - 2008 Toyota Tundra

The fuel economy is as good as my previous vehicle (Chevy blazer) averaged just over 17 MPG 60% hwy, 40% city. My driving style is a lot more conservative due to the price of gas. The tundra has a lot of room and excellent interior storage areas. Excellent turning radius/easy to drive. Previous reviews hammered the transmission for down shifting too much. Havent had that problem. Did have some problems w/radio/stereo. It would turn on/off, change stations. Dealer replaced it and havent had a problem since

  • Love this Truck! - 2008 Toyota Tundra

This is the best truck in its class! For 3 months I researched, test-drove, and priced everything in its class and came away knowing that the new Tundra was the best choice. The powerful engine, smooth transmission, cavernous interior, and quiet ride puts this truck in a class of its own. With the 6-speed my Tundra gets better mileage than a friends 07 5.4L F150.

  • Love my truck! - 2008 Toyota Tundra

We lovingly refer to my truck as "Big Blue". I am a 51" tall woman and have looked for this truck for YEARS. I needed something with a very high tow rating for my horses, that would still accommodate my 3 kids, and not feel like I drove a tank every day. The Tundra does all that in style. No one can believe how sexy this truck is, it is unique and turns heads everywhere I go. It is easy to drive and gets good gas mileage. It does have a blind spot if you are short and have to sit close like me, and the radio had to be replaced right off the bat, but the service has been excellent and it purrs every time I turn the key.

  • New Toyota Tundra - 2008 Toyota Tundra

Very good deal, on a very well designed and built full size truck. Performance enhanced by 6 speed transmission, this truck drives extremely well in ordinary traffic and cruises on the interstate. If you need to get past slower traffic, just put your foot down and very easily and safely accelerate past. Breaking on this truck is phenominal, it stops extremely rapidly and safely. Extremely good all round truck for hauling people and a bed full of materials. Have not used it yet for towing, but should be a winner.
