This Year's Model Updates:

The four-door Double Cab joins the 2004 Toyota Tundra lineup. The Double Cab rides on an extended wheelbase of 140.5 inches, and features a cargo bed equal in length to the Access Cab's while gaining 3.5 inches of depth.

Pros:
  • Smooth and refined V8, Toyota build quality and reliability, easy maneuverability in urban areas, roomy Double Cab configuration.
Cons:
  • Lacks serious brawn for towing and hauling, uncomfortable front seats, cramped rear seat in Access Cab, chintzy interior trimmings.

  • Best truck of 5 owned - 2004 Toyota Tundra

Its the best truck of 5 that Ive owned. Smooth, quiet, powerful, totally civilized. Perfect size for everyday use. The only draw back is that the floor is too high. Seating position is similar to a car and not a truck.

I switched from a Dodge to this rig and I LOVE IT...Its a phenominal truck all around.

Ive only had my Limited Tundra for a few weeks now, but so far I love it! True, the gas mileage could be better, but the performance and ride are great. More options would be a plus. You cant get a sunroof AND seat heaters for some reason. I hate how you cant get factory options like leather, wood trim or rear seat entertainment systems because the port (GST) orders all of them without these options so they can sell and install their own aftermarket versions.

  • A great truck - 2004 Toyota Tundra

I have had this for about 5 months and love it. Have towed concrete mixers (full, 1 cu. yrd.) no problem. This is a great truck, I dont know how they can say it is not for contractors. It has lots of room and plenty of power. The inside is not super fancy, but it is a truck not a Cadillac. If you are in the market for a solid vehicle it is worth taking a look at.

  • best truck ever drove - 2004 Toyota Tundra

drove toyotas 3rd world truck for years and never had problems when maintained. this truck is great. got it and have 30k already. it has only been in shop for oil changes. traded from explorer that had 9 recalls, 4 major parts replaced in 4 years. comfortable for me a large guy. good ride in bumpy backroads. i have used it to haul numerous loads and never felt it lag at all. a great truck for me!

  • My Tundra Experience - 2004 Toyota Tundra

This is the second Toyota Tundra I purchase and I really enjoy it very much. It is very comfortable and roomy for my own use, and I can really depend on it. I have never had any mechanical problems with it or has it had anything break on it. Take in mind you need to follow manufactures maintenance schedule.

  • Tundra is Great - 2004 Toyota Tundra

I disagree with the numbers toyota says about the towing cap. I tow a trailer that ways just over 10000 pounds five days a week and not a hint of arguement from this truck. I have also had 1800 pounds of aluminum in the bed of this truck and no problems as of yet (with 20000 miles of this on a stock truck)

  • Used to be aFord Man - 2004 Toyota Tundra

Has always owned Ford trucks but with only having this one for 3 months you would have a hard time getting back to Ford. The overall rating for this vehicle is excellent.

  • Tundra vs Dakota - 2004 Toyota Tundra
    By -

I was dissapointed to find that Dodge no longer made a long bed Dakota. My dissapointment turned to excitement when I test drove the Tundra. Although it is larger than my Dakota, I found it much easier to handle. It engine was smaller 3.3 vs. 3.9, but it seemed to have more power. I anticipate keeping my Tundra for at least 10 years as I did my Dakota, and look forward to a long happy ownership. Now I wont have to worry abut the transmission because I know Toyota makes a good transmission. Dodge hasnt figured it out yet. My only dissapointment was the height which caused me to add runningboards. A minor item for such a great truck.
