Model Overview:

Buyers looking for a smart choice in the minivan segment will undoubtedly find themselves considering the Toyota Sienna. Since its introduction in 1998, the Sienna has won over families with its versatility, features, safety record and reputation for reliability.

In reviews, we've lauded the Sienna for its smooth, refined ride and easy-to-drive nature. Another plus is that Toyota has generally offered all-wheel drive on the Sienna, making it a more practical alternative to large three-row crossover SUVs. More recent Siennas can be downright plush in higher trim levels, and there's even an SE model with a sport-tuned suspension that's genuinely sporty. Whichever version you choose, you'll be getting one of the most dependable and rewarding minivans on the market.

  • Excellent minivan in every respect - 2000 Toyota Sienna

Weve had this van for nearly 10 years now, essentially problem-free. Yes, the brakes do squeak a bit, especially when the weather is hot but thats a minor annoyance. We drive a LOT, in all kinds of weather, and have been delighted with the incredible reliability. It handles great in heavy snow; it does have a wide turning circle but so do other vans Ive driven. Weve had no issues with oil sludge or any of the other complaints Ive read about here. Our kids have grown so I dont think wed buy another minivan, but if we did, Id definitely go for another Sienna.

  • Everlasting Toyota - 2004 Toyota Sienna

84,000 miles and counting. This has been a great car. So far (knock on wood) weve had no problems at all and no unscheduled repairs. INCREDIBLE!! Some cars can hardly make it that far. Although, wear and tear is definitely apparent. Its much louder (engine, road noise, and wind noise), rougher, and slower than when it was newer. Toyota has sent home a few recalls, including a rear seat belt and the power lift gate. The middle seats dont recline! Thats probably the worst part about the car. We had a 91 dodge caravan and those seats were more comfortable. Heated seats are awesome. Leather has hardly worn. Overall a great family car with more than plenty room for seven and tons of stuff.

  • A quiet, refined vehicle - 2001 Toyota Sienna

This is an excellent vehicle, the best Ive owned in 40 years of driving. It is responsive to a fault...no sag, no pause...just a nice smooth flow of power and control.

  • Good, but with problems - 2000 Toyota Sienna
    By -

We had no problems until 65,000 miles. Since then, the transmission busted ($2,300 for a rebuilt trans.) and both sliding door handles have broken (around $330 to fix for both). All tires had to be changed at 15,000 miles and again at 40,000. Definitely some alignment issues. A good car, but quality control seems to be becoming an issue for some Toyotas. That said, Im considering replacing this with another Toyota (RAV4), so I guess it goes to show Ive not given up on Toyotas perceived reliability.

  • Very Happy with my 2001 Sienna. - 2001 Toyota Sienna

Bought new.Now have over 300k km and it just keeps going and going. Never had a major repair. Firm believer in preventative maintenance. Did all recommended maintenance exactly as prescribed in manual and have not had any problems. Lost rear wheel bearings at 260K km but fronts still in good condition. It has survived two teenage drivers and is a favorite for group road trips. Always had part of a sports team on-board going somewhere. Very comfortable to drive. I have since purchased 2 used 2001 corollas in 2004 and 2008 for my kids attending university and they just keep going and going. My non Toyota mechanic cant believe the condition of all 3 cars. 2001 was a very good year for Toyotas.

  • Never again! - 2006 Toyota Sienna

A lot of repairs due to everyday use, parts and labor at dealer very expensive. Build with very cheap materials that break unusually fast dealer and Toyota will blame you for anything that you touched or used on the vehicle even the radio that you listen to is your fault. My first and believe me last Toyota to buy. Happy with my other Nissan and infinity trucks that I own for far more years of service and far less problems!

  • Toyota quality no more - 2006 Toyota Sienna
    By -

Having owned several Toyota vehicles dating back to the 70s, I am truly disappointed in the recent quality of their vehicles. Brakes wear prematurely, CV joints are bad, and automatic sliding door went out. All before 50,000 miles. And of course, all of these repairs are very expensive. No more Toyotas in my future.

  • Toyota takes the lead - 2004 Toyota Sienna

This van is built in the typical Toyota way, that is rock solid. Switches, knobs, levers all have that precision no-slop feel. The quality of the interior materials is high. The doors close with a bank vault-like thunk. Quiet and comfortable ride on the freeway. Cupholders and compartments galore. Driveability, however, suffers somewhat with a slight lag in acceleration from a stop. I understand this is correctable by the dealer performing TSB TC007-03. Overall very satisfied.
