Model Overview:

Buyers looking for a smart choice in the minivan segment will undoubtedly find themselves considering the Toyota Sienna. Since its introduction in 1998, the Sienna has won over families with its versatility, features, safety record and reputation for reliability.

In reviews, we've lauded the Sienna for its smooth, refined ride and easy-to-drive nature. Another plus is that Toyota has generally offered all-wheel drive on the Sienna, making it a more practical alternative to large three-row crossover SUVs. More recent Siennas can be downright plush in higher trim levels, and there's even an SE model with a sport-tuned suspension that's genuinely sporty. Whichever version you choose, you'll be getting one of the most dependable and rewarding minivans on the market.

  • Where have you been all my life - 2002 Toyota Sienna

Was a hardcore SUV driver until I test drove this used Sienna XLE. Leather! Million cupholders! Sliding doors! Im thrilled with its performance and it zooms better than the Xterra (slug) that I was driving. Would love it if the dash wouldnt give off such a glare, love the sunroof but will have to get the DVD player in a bag or the headrests :( I got mine for 16,500 bluebook was 20K

For a company trying to take over the big three, I am quite disappointed. The dealer experience was lousy first and foremost. I cant get more than 14 mpg avg. The seats are fine for a 15 minute test drive but really wear down on longer trips. My sedan from 1997 is much more comfortable. The trim under the driver window is starting to peel already. I wonder when the rest of the plastic will fall apart. The wood highlights are unattractive. Interior noise is greater than I remember from the test drive. The back seats are quite stiff to fold down. The package system that Toyota uses is strange and annoying. There is already a rattle in the right rear door.

The vehicle is very responsive to steering and handling. The variable valve timing addition makes it more responsive than the 2000 year model. The gas mileage needs to be improved. Compared with Chryslers larger 3.8 liter engine, they get about the same mileage on the highway.

  • Great Family Car, Now With More Interior Room - 2004 Toyota Sienna

We upgraded from a 2003 to a 2004 Toyota Sienna and there is a BIG difference. The vehicle is like 6" wider and longer and it is so nice. We were not able to put a rear-facing car seat in the second row of captains chairs in our 2003 but the 2004 fits it nicely and my wife and I are both over 6 tall. The stowable rear seat is very nice too. The gas mileage is right around 20 mpg which could be better. It has plenty of power though and the ride is nice.

  • From 2 time Quest owner - 2000 Toyota Sienna

Visibility is excellent while driving the Sienna as should be expected. The comfort of the overall ride and the fit and finish of the interior is excellent. The controls are all user friendly with one exception. The radio control on the steering wheel is easily engaged accidently and changes your radio station on you or your song on CD or tape by the way you hold the steering wheel. You must be conscience of where you place your hand on the left side of the wheel. The stereo system in the LE is just acceptable, nothing supreme really. I have owned two Nissan Quests in years past. The Sienna is a full level of comfort and safety above the Quest in my opinion.

  • New Toyota guy - 2016 Toyota Sienna

Prior to owning a Toyota sienna I owned a Honda Odyssey for 11 years. There was always one thing that bugged me about my 2005 Odyssey. There was a whistling noise that came through the front defroster vents when driving at high speeds. I learned to live with it. Other than that the car was fantastic. I am now the owner of a 2016 Toyota Sienna XLE 8 passenger. The car has been great. I like the look of the vehicle and it is comfortable and handles well. I did notice one thing on this car that bugs me and I guess Im going to have to live with it. Every time I go over a bump there is a squeaking noise that comes from the rear drivers side seat. I assume it happens because the 8th seat is not connected although I havent checked that out yet. 99 percent of the time I will not be using the extra seat. To be honest both the Toyota Sienna and Honda Odyssey are about the same. The reason I went with the Toyota Sienna was the outside appearance of the car and the interior layout. Plus I think the idea of putting a vacuum it the Odyssey was a stupid idea. Waste of space. In the Sienna you can store the extra seat in that space so you dont have to bring it in and out of the car when you want to use it. Update to Review: This weekend I put the 8th seat (jump seat) in the car. Squeaking stopped. Im not that happy that Ill have to listen to all that squeaking since I usually do not leave the extra seat in place. Anybody else have the same issue?

  • (2) Transmissions in 150K Miles?!?!? - 2006 Toyota Sienna
    By -

It is acceptable for you to expect go through (2) transmissions on a family owned and operated mini van to get 150K miles out of a $40K "luxury" vehicle? First transmission was "replaced" at 57K, under warranty. Currently at 148K miles. Facing a $2000 bill from the Toyota dealer for a transfer case seal repair. Called Toyota. Assigned a "Case Manager", Dan. He states since there is no service record with Toyota after drive train warranty expired and the car has 148K miles, Toyota is not accountable. He would not transfer me to a supervisor and hung up on me. I called back and am waiting for a return call from a "Supervisor". Our first and last Toyota purchase.

  • 1999 toyota Sienns Transmission Failure - 1999 Toyota Sienna
    By -

This van is unlike toyota reliability with respect to transmission at or around 60K miles. The transmission failure around 60K miles is unaccepted when we pay a premium to own, because of toyota reliability.

  • MULTI USE VEHICLE - 2005 Toyota Sienna
    By -

Van used for hauling furniture and then converted to a grandkid bus. Extremely quiet, even at speed. Gas mileage almost equal to my other compact car. Mileage well up into the 20s (mostly highway). Fold down seats great feature. Power doors actually are easier on the vehicle, and us. No service problems, same as our last 4 Toyota vehicles.

  • Solid Family Vehicle - 2004 Toyota Sienna

Pluses: Great seats, layout, dashboard (I like the glossy black), storage (thoughtful in all the nooks and cranies). Great steering, acceleration, and good handling. Excellent tow vehicle for our pop-up camper. Non-JBL stereo is very good. Kids love it.
