Model Overview:

Buyers looking for a smart choice in the minivan segment will undoubtedly find themselves considering the Toyota Sienna. Since its introduction in 1998, the Sienna has won over families with its versatility, features, safety record and reputation for reliability.

In reviews, we've lauded the Sienna for its smooth, refined ride and easy-to-drive nature. Another plus is that Toyota has generally offered all-wheel drive on the Sienna, making it a more practical alternative to large three-row crossover SUVs. More recent Siennas can be downright plush in higher trim levels, and there's even an SE model with a sport-tuned suspension that's genuinely sporty. Whichever version you choose, you'll be getting one of the most dependable and rewarding minivans on the market.

  • AC line corrosion - 2008 Toyota Sienna

Love this van, like the design much better than the new one....but....we had our AC line replaced under warranty last summer, this summer we find that 3 other lines are also needing replacement due to corrosion...Toyota and the dealers offered us 50% shared cost for repairs, but, this should not be happening. The cost to us is still $1900.00, and, we are wondering if this will be an annual cost to keep the air in our vehicle? Toyota Canada stated this is not an issue with the Sienna and there is no recall or fix for this issue...

compared features against Honda. Several items stood out in Toyota such as: split 3rd row seat with integrated head rests (easier to fold down and no head rests to store), 2nd row seat does not un-hinge itself when tipped out of the way to gain access to the 3rd row, integrated sun shades, 3 power doors, sliding doors have operable windows, excellent turning radius, quieter ride

After having minivans for over 20 years, we finally got one that has the quality and handling charateristics of a luxury sedan but the room, comfort, accessibilty and safety of your family room. Its quietness, smooth ride, effortless handling make it fun to drive. Having a 1 year old makes us realize the importance of the safety factors and appreciate the thought put into the inclusion of car seats and being able to move the 2nd row seats together. The amount of storage is great. My wife and I compete for which of us gets to drive the Toyota and which has to take the other car.

Our Sienna has been virtually trouble-free, and weve also experienced an accident. The Sienna did an admirable job of protecting everyone, and the ALR rear seatbelts held the kids car seats tight during the wreck. Still, I dislike this van. I find the Sienna dreadfully uncomfortable. The front seats are mushy and offer virtually no support. The cargo space behind the third-row seat is not terribly good, and I wish the Toyota had the same disappearing third-row seat as the Honda does.

I am 6 feet tall and the only major issue is the legroom. The Toyota Sienna center console is very wide and my right knee hits the console and is very crowded for a 6 foot tall person. Except for the comfort issue, this has been a great minivan. The Toyota has about 20,000 miles with no repairs. The Toyota is smooth and fast on the road. I also own a 1999 Honda Odyssey which has more legroom for a taller person. The Honda Odyssey center console is 3 inches narrower than Toyota. I prefer the Honda Odyssey for seating comfort and the Toyota Sienna for a fast, smooth ride. I am currently planning to buy a Toyota Highlander which has more legroom for taller people.

Steering radius incredible.......Drives like a DREAM......Comfort beyond compare. Lots of room and outlets...Had 2003 and the previa for years. This is the best design yet as far as room goes. Seats fold into floor. Bck windows operate like a car or truck. Just cant say enough about it

  • Will it die? - 1999 Toyota Sienna

Bought this Sienna van used a couple months ago. After driving a couple of weeks the trans started making a grinding/whining noise, (shifts okay), almost like a bad differential. I took it to a trans shop where they gave me the bad news. Trans needs to be replaced; $1,400. Oh well, Ill keep driving till it drops. So far, 4000 miles and steady as she goes. I guess the trans repair will pay for itself. Having never owned a minivan, this one is a blast. This van never lets me down when there is somewhere to go; bad trans and all! Ive never had a Toyota let me down yet; 98 Tercel, 05 Taco, 07 Yaris, 99 Sienna. Bullet-proof van, only had to do routine maintenance so far.

  • Toyota Heading the way of GM - 2011 Toyota Sienna

Have Sienna for 2 kid family and one on the way. Purchased for leather and DVD player. Very disappointed. Complex dashboard distracting from driving experience, readout display busy. Plastics are awful, buttons and lever feels like they will snap off in your hand. Front seats very comfortable, rear seats roomy, but awkward for anyone over 510". Feels like it was designed for short, obese people. Reeks of cost cutting and poor ergonomics. Ride OK but get seasick at high speed. V6 motor/transmission hunts a lot: revs without oomph. Handling also awkward, too much curb weight. Trunk huge, but hard to load. Rear seat already broken, stability control/DVD keep giving problems.

  • Toyota XLE AWD - 2005 Toyota Sienna
    By -

Excellent van, very quiet on the road, features are excellent. Safety features are the best in its class. Engine/transmissions are the same ones found in a Lexus. AWD should be great in the snow. Had 4 other Toyota before, after a total of 300,000 no major problems with any of the can/truck/vans. Well worth the money
