Model Overview:

Buyers looking for a smart choice in the minivan segment will undoubtedly find themselves considering the Toyota Sienna. Since its introduction in 1998, the Sienna has won over families with its versatility, features, safety record and reputation for reliability.

In reviews, we've lauded the Sienna for its smooth, refined ride and easy-to-drive nature. Another plus is that Toyota has generally offered all-wheel drive on the Sienna, making it a more practical alternative to large three-row crossover SUVs. More recent Siennas can be downright plush in higher trim levels, and there's even an SE model with a sport-tuned suspension that's genuinely sporty. Whichever version you choose, you'll be getting one of the most dependable and rewarding minivans on the market.

  • Thrilled - 2011 Toyota Sienna

This is my 4th minivan. Second Toyota and by far the best. Only thing I miss is the storage compartments in the door handles. If thats all I can complain about life is good. My children are thrilled with the larger screen and I love the Navigation System. Very pleased with the new leather interior as well. A quality looking automobile.

  • Too expensive on tires - 2004 Toyota Sienna
    By -

Good for traveling but we have had to replace several tires and do more then normal alignments. More then one mechanic said the alignment was a problem. This has cost us money that should not be an issue. Also the noise level is bad and the CD players does not work well.

  • What they dont tell you about the AWD - 2004 Toyota Sienna
    By -

First, I had to have the motor on the side door replaced. It took the local dealership 3 tries to fix, and they kept my car each time, refusing to pay for a rental. In addition, I was not aware that the AWD does not come with a spare tire, or a place to store a spare tire. I had a flat tire on a "run-flat"tire that was defective, and was not able to drive the car. I had to have the car towed to Toyota, where it took them 2 days to get a new tire. They would not cover any of the costs of towing, replacement, or car rental. In addition, all handbooks show this car with a spare. Buyer beware...it appears it is truly Toyota "Cutomer....No Service!"

  • Not so comfortable front seats - 2015 Toyota Sienna
    By -

Pros 1.The handling is very nice and doesnt feel that you driving a minivan. 2.I see many users complained about cheap plastic materials, and I personally don’t see that as a big issue. I see lot of interior parts on Ebay and they are not very expensive. Cons: 1. The steering wheel center is not aligned with the center of the front driver side seat. The issue I personally see with that is ,the steering wheel center is little inwards to the seat. While driving ,I was used to holding the steering wheel with my left arm placed on the armrest. Now with this miss alignment, the hand is not conveniently reachable to place it on the armrest while holding the steering wheel. This is a big discomfort while doing the long drives. I am not sure if very tall people will have this problem, but I am 59" and I feel the problem. I am not sure if this is any way related, even the seats are too comfortable for long drives. I used to rent dodge caravan before having this van and I never felt this issue. I also rented Kia Sedona and even those seats are very comfortable. This steering and seat alignment I believe will also be for 2016 and 2017 models since Toyota did not redesign any major physical changes. 2. The Voice recognition is technically useless. My cell phone has much voice recognition system than my 35k van. 3. The USB port cant keep up with the Smartphone charging and its very slow. 4. The gas mileage is not as per the EPA numbers. On the high way I am getting around 23 and that’s 2 below the EPA 25.When checked with the dealer, he told that the mileage ratings were form EPA and they have nothing to do with it. I saw the KIA Sedons EPA ratings and they are different for each model and the highest model has the least rating. I assume it has to do with the extra equipment they added on the vehicle. If that’s the case how come all the Siennas have same EPA ratings irrespective of the sub-model. 5. Quality- My GPS broke in less than a year and its been more than 3 months and the dealer did not replace it yet. 6. The seats are not 100% leather. Only the upper surfaces are leather. I have no issue until that part. But the adjustable hand rests are not in leather and that’s one of the pieces that you would touch a lot. I have a leather wrapped steering and they missed to add this small detail on the adjustable arm rests. 7. Not a big fan for their entune app except for their low fuel prompt and suggesting the nearest gas station. Also their live traffic update system is very slow and sometime its useless. I still rely on google maps for live traffic updates. I wish Toyota has android auto and that was really cool. I used it in an rental Hyundai Sanota and I really liked it. 8. The surround system for their audio is not calibrated correctly. You feel that all the sound is coming from the front speakers. I believe they calibrated it like for a car and ignored the 3rd row seats. I had to adjust the sound more to the back speakers to have that proper surround sound effect. 9. While making the U turn, I could hear a squeaking sound coming from the rear tires. I was not only the one with that issue. My friend went for a test drive and he complained the same and he did not ended buying a sienna. He bought an 4runner instead.

  • So much room. - 2005 Toyota Sienna
    By -

What a great van, drives so smooth and quiet. Power door and fold flat 3rd row seats are so nice. Second row seats are easy to remove and dont weight too much. Interior gages and finish is top notch. Drive noise is much quieter than the Honda odyssey. Looking for a minivan, make sure and look at these. For 26K you cannot beat the options, features, Toyota reliability and resale value.

  • The best minivan Sienna - 2000 Toyota Sienna

I love my Sienna! I never had any problem, its very reliable like others Toyotas. I recomend this mini van to anyone who like drive a van but feel into a car...

  • A very good, if somewhat "vanilla", van - 2006 Toyota Sienna
    By -

Good, but not perfect by any means. Having come from a 2002 Honda Odyssey, I immediately noticed several shortcomings in the Sienna. The Honda engine was much more powerful, especially at takeoff. Furthermore, the Honda had power doors on BOTH sides, instead of just the right side. However, my transmission went out on my Honda after 70,000 miles so Ill gladly trade some power and a powered sliding door for better dependability. However, it just seems somewhat less "advanced" than my 2002 Odyssey did. If the Odyssey is the hot cheerleader who may love you one day, only to leave you for someone else the next, the Sienna is the tried and true girl next door who you can count on to be there.

  • Best in Class - 2005 Toyota Sienna

Replaced a 2003 Chrysler T&C Ltd, had many problems covered by warranty, but got sick of down time. The Sienna has a far better ride than the chrysler and seems to have a better reilability history. Passed on the Sienna XLE Ltd, as I thought the price did not justify the difference in options. Overall a great ride.

  • Sienna SE is pretty good, but could be better - 2011 Toyota Sienna
    By -

we choose the Sienna based on build quality (I work for a Toyota supplier). The reliability seems to be there, but Toyota went cheap on a couple of things. The interior plastics belong on a lowly Kia, they are hard to the touch and Im guessing will be prone to sqeaking in due time. The sliding doors stick frequently. The van is fun to drive, for a van, the steering is precise and the handling on the SE is probably the most fun of all minivans. The looks are pretty aggressive and hats off to Toyota for putting 19" rims on it, giving the van a sporty stance. Swagger wagon marketing is valid on the SE.

  • Solid and reliable - 1999 Toyota Sienna
    By -

The Sienna has delivered solid performance, mileage and comfort. Weve put 70,000 miles on it and nothing has ever needed repair. We have two kids that can break anything they put their minds to, but thus far the Sienna has stood up to their punishment admirably. Driving this van is more like driving a car than any other van we tested. Thats the main reason we bought it. The fact that it got the highest safety rating of any passenger van in 1999 was also appealing. Complaints? The quad-seat layout we got makes getting into the third row difficult for adults. The audio system, a 6-speaker CD/AM-FM combo, isnt as punchy as I like.
