Model Overview:

Buyers looking for a smart choice in the minivan segment will undoubtedly find themselves considering the Toyota Sienna. Since its introduction in 1998, the Sienna has won over families with its versatility, features, safety record and reputation for reliability.

In reviews, we've lauded the Sienna for its smooth, refined ride and easy-to-drive nature. Another plus is that Toyota has generally offered all-wheel drive on the Sienna, making it a more practical alternative to large three-row crossover SUVs. More recent Siennas can be downright plush in higher trim levels, and there's even an SE model with a sport-tuned suspension that's genuinely sporty. Whichever version you choose, you'll be getting one of the most dependable and rewarding minivans on the market.

  • Wish I Could Own It Forever - 1999 Toyota Sienna
    By -

Just passed 326,000 mi. on my Sienna. Purchased new in 1999 - absolutely the best car ever! Faithful maintenance seemed pricey at the time-timing belt every 60,000 miles, e.g., but I stuck to it & can count the number of repairs on one hand. Water pump at 200,000, stuck seat belt, tie rod ends @ 250,000. Had 3 prior Chrysler minivans, none of which lasted more than 140,000; all needed new radiators, transmissions etc. Inconceivable on this van. Not even broken plastic parts. Didnt use the tow package til recently. Added a trailer hitch and took a full U-haul across the Appalachians at 300,000 miles w/no problems. Driver seat has great lumbar support - when my back hurts I go sit in my car.

  • Agreed! Poor Gas Mileage - 2007 Toyota Sienna
    By -

Had a SUV, but wanted better gas performance and needed a big minivan. Very safe, side airbags and stability control. Loved the design over the Honda Odyess. But HATE the gas mileage. The best we get is 13-15 city, 23-25 hwy after 1,900 miles. First week of purchase was getting 8-10 mpg city. Expected better city and hwy. Questioning if I should have keep my SUV or considering going back to one. Drive is nowhere near "car like" but the wife is happy. Shes the primary driver so I wont add my 2 cents in.

  • Disappointed with new 2011 Sienna - 2011 Toyota Sienna
    By -

I was a loyal Sienna LE owner since 2006 driving about 35,000 km a year. Previous model was well finished, good handling, and reliable van. That perception changed when I looked for replacement of the van with a new 2011 model after car accident. Obviously my first choice was same make and model. I visited local Toyota dealership and looked at all models of Sienna. I was surprised to find out that interior finish (even the top of the line models)looks so cheap with low quality hard plastics resembling domestic products. I was so turned off by the interior, that I even didnt care to take the van for a test drive. Will look now at new Honda or Nissan vans.

  • 2012 Sienna XLE - 2012 Toyota Sienna
    By -

This is my 4th Sienna and every year they get better. I hated to sell but we decided to get a new 2017 Sienna XLE. I actually like some of the items more on the 2012 than on the new 2017 model, such as the layout of the dashboard. My 2012 was absolutely trouble free for the entire time I owned it which was from 7K miles until I sold it at 58K. One item I really enjoy are the power sliding side doors and power rear hatch. It has tons of power and gets great mileage. The dealer did not want to give me very much for my vehicle for a trade in, so I sold it myself. Do yourself a favor and always use Mobil 1 synthetic motor oil. Your engine will thank you in the long run! When purchasing a vehicle, always get a detailed service history and ask for receipts for any maintenance performed. Although a Carfax report is helpful, it does not always disclose the complete history of the van. Do your homework and have the van thoroughly inspected for storm or flood damage. The Carfax is only as good as the people who submit the information. I would highly recommend this vehicle.

  • Loving my Sienna! - 2004 Toyota Sienna
    By -

Although Ive only owned my Sienna for a short time I am VERY happy with every aspect of it. It rides like a dream and is quite comfortable to sit in. My kids (ages 5 ,4 & 2) love its size and can spread out yet still be safe. Ive owned other minivans before and this one far surpasses any other, in my opinion.

  • beware of power sliding doors - 2004 Toyota Sienna
    By -

The power sliding doors are dangerous. They continue to close, even when an object is in its way. It closed on my arm with enough pressure to have me concerned about my childrens safety. Toyota customer service was no help. When I questioned the amount of pressure needed for the door to retract, I was told that he was not an engineer, and that I could not speak with anyone else. I am still awaiting a response form the district manager. In the meantime, I have turned the power door feature off.

  • So far we like it - 2006 Toyota Sienna
    By -

Bought it in Nov 2006. Two years is too short a period to rate but so far we really like this minivan. We had check engine light once but at dealership they told us that we accidentally cut a wire under the seat and they fixed it for free.

  • Great Van... - 2004 Toyota Sienna

I love this van. I am sick of the Chevy Venture I had. It has all the bells and whistles.

  • Thought Toyota stood for high quality - 2004 Toyota Sienna
    By -

We purchased our Sienna thinking that we would have many happy carefree miles in a high quality vehicle. What we found was issues with the traction control that locked up our wheels and required significant repairs not once but twice. In addition we had an overheated radiator (later recalled). In total this vehicle was a bust - will never buy a Toyota again.

  • Was in love, but now just in like... - 2005 Toyota Sienna
    By -

Loved this van when I bought it used in 2009. Spacious interior, reliable. Then it let me down. I opened the sliding passenger door and it wouldnt shut. Tried to override to manual...but no luck. Still wouldnt shut. Called Toyota, they filed a claim and provided a # then said management occassionally reviews. But they could do nothing. Called dealership and they said theyve never heard of such a thing. Went online and TONS of Sienna owners are dealing with the same issue. Apparently it is with the cable in the door. It either frays, jambs, or has other issues. Cutting the cable is a quick cheap solution and works! Now I carry a wire cutter for when the other door fails.
