Model Overview:

Buyers looking for a smart choice in the minivan segment will undoubtedly find themselves considering the Toyota Sienna. Since its introduction in 1998, the Sienna has won over families with its versatility, features, safety record and reputation for reliability.

In reviews, we've lauded the Sienna for its smooth, refined ride and easy-to-drive nature. Another plus is that Toyota has generally offered all-wheel drive on the Sienna, making it a more practical alternative to large three-row crossover SUVs. More recent Siennas can be downright plush in higher trim levels, and there's even an SE model with a sport-tuned suspension that's genuinely sporty. Whichever version you choose, you'll be getting one of the most dependable and rewarding minivans on the market.

  • Best Minivan-for now - 2004 Toyota Sienna
    By -

I bought the 2004 Sienna because it had everything I was looking for in a minivan, including all-wheel drive. The ride is very smooth as is the engine. (I believe this is the same engine & drivetrain used in the new Lexus RX330) It has very good handling and acceleration for a vehicle this large. Ergonomically, it is very well designed. The controls (and there are a lot of them) are easy to use without taking your eyes off the road. There are a lot of nice minivans out there right now; but for the combination of performance, features, and reliability, the Sienna is hard to beat.

  • As good as it gets - 2004 Toyota Sienna

My wife swore that shed never own a minivan and that this would be MY vehicle. Now shes taking it away from me. Everything on the Sienna exudes quality. Its comfortable and powerful. - Parking assist sonar works great - Sound system is excellent. - The Sienna is VERY quiet. - Comfortable arm rests (Im picky about this) - Fantastic visibility. - The conversation mirror works great. I can finally watch my daughter in the back without adjusting my rear-view mirror. - The DVD player is fantastic. It turns screaming girls into quiet ladies. - The Sienna comes with two household 110v outlets - great feature.

  • Sienna AWD LE observations - 2005 Toyota Sienna
    By -

My new Sienna AWD LE replaces my 6-yr old Pontiac Montana. What a difference! The Sienna is incredibly quiet, extremely sure-footed and perhaps the best built minivan Ive ever seen. I opted for the AWD version... cant wait for the snow here in the Northeast. Upgraded sound system is a tremendous improvement over GMs top-of-the-line audio. The LE version includes features which youd have to pay extra for in most other minivans. Adding the AWD option includes important things like 4 wheel disk, stability control, 17in. wheels, etc. 2nd row passenger windows actually work like a sedan! Rear seats retract neatly into floor, leaving plenty of room for dogs. 2nd row seats flip forward.

  • Great Family Car - 2009 Toyota Sienna
    By -

This is a great family car. It fits me, my wife, two kids and my in-laws. Go skiing a lot in Vermont. Drive frequently from NYC to Vermont. This is an amazing car in the snow (AWD option). The gas mileage is pretty bad, 16 miles per gallon. But, considering the size, seating capacity, and AWD, its pretty good. I got the LE AWD no frills version and bought aftermarket leather seats. I recommend this minivan above all especially living in the northeast. I almost never plow or shovel my driveway. In 2 feet of snow, this baby comes in/out of garage like NOTHING!

  • Beats Honda and all domestics - 2004 Toyota Sienna
    By -

We were about to buy a Honda, but were looking for a reason not to because the dealership still thinks the Odessey is untouchable. Wont budge on price for an outdated vehicle and are cocky about it. Im glad a freind told us about the new Seinna. Honda needs to realize Toyota has a better product now, and I wish domestic automakers would catch up already. How long has the fold away 3rd row been around now - 3 or 4 years?

  • Great Van light on features - 2008 Toyota Sienna
    By -

I recently purchased the 2008 Sienna Limited. I traded in my 2001 Honda Odyssey after 2 transmissions! So I wanted to try Toyota and I love it. It is like riding in a luxury car, smooth ride, quiet engine, leather, wood trim, 360 watt stereo and plenty of room. Its new, but Im only averaging 16 MPG on the highway, so hopefully it will break in and get better. One complaint that I have is when you pay over $33k for a limited you expect a DVD and navigation system, Honda gives you that for the same price as the Toyota! However I drove the new Honda and it was sluggish, and would never trust that brand again. I guess a good engine is better then a good DVD and navigation system!

  • Poor Sienna gas mileage - 2005 Toyota Sienna
    By -

Sold our rock solid 99 Sienna after 130K problem free miles. We were looking forward to improved MPG. Dont believe Toyotas claim. This model is a gas hog, about the same as our 4WD Sequoia. If you need a van for around town expect about 15.5MPG. Our old Sienna was much better. We suspect the trans - the newer tranny is constantly shifting in town (the old was smooth as butter - the new is jerky and noisier). It appears Toyota traded city MPG for better highway MPG - a shame since most people use vans for driving the kids around town. The other beef is with the armrests on the captains chairs - not sure who they designed them for, but they dont line up with my arms or my kids.

  • Sliding door problems - 2008 Toyota Sienna
    By -

Overall, the van is good value, very comfortable and drives smooth. Had 3 problems so far - The laser guided cruise control is located in the bumper. Must have hit a snowbank and it is out of calibration (want $800 to re-calibrate).Who would put such a sensitive instrument in the bumper is beyond me. Continuous problems with sliding doors. Has refused to latch intermittently from year 2. Dealer did not do anything, since it worked at the shop. 10 miles past the warranty, one door permanently refused to latch - luckily had purchased extended warranty. The second door failed a month later - with a child sitting in the seat!! I am not certain that i would buy a Toyota again.

  • Love this van - 2009 Toyota Sienna

On a whim, I decided to see about upgrading our 2007 XLE with limited features to a fully loaded 2009 XLE. We lucked out and got a good deal on both the new van and a trade in. There are minor differences to performance which is nice. However, the upgrades are amazing and so worth it. I am loving my van. And the gas mileage is better on the new van than the 2007.
