Model Overview:

Buyers looking for a smart choice in the minivan segment will undoubtedly find themselves considering the Toyota Sienna. Since its introduction in 1998, the Sienna has won over families with its versatility, features, safety record and reputation for reliability.

In reviews, we've lauded the Sienna for its smooth, refined ride and easy-to-drive nature. Another plus is that Toyota has generally offered all-wheel drive on the Sienna, making it a more practical alternative to large three-row crossover SUVs. More recent Siennas can be downright plush in higher trim levels, and there's even an SE model with a sport-tuned suspension that's genuinely sporty. Whichever version you choose, you'll be getting one of the most dependable and rewarding minivans on the market.

Traded in 06 Odyssey and you cant go wrong with either van. But the styles are very different, and we prefer the Sienna. Sienna is quieter and rides much smoother. Sienna also has better turning radius. We took the Sienna on a 1600 mile road trip and loved the journey. And we originally wanted it without AWD, but we ran into a snowstorm and AWD paid for itself in one trip!! Our Sienna is loaded, and it really feels more like a luxury sedan than a minivan.

We bought this van specifically for moving 5 adults and luggage across the country several times in the year. It handled the job nicely and even the teenage boys (who spread themselves out) seemed comfortable for multi-day car trips. We put 24,000 miles on it in the first 9 months. Gas mileage was only fair but didnt waver much between loaded and empty (20-23 mpg). Had trouble with sliding door mechanisms and the parts arent cheap. Brakes havent been a problem as Ive been reading in other posts. We have 180,000 on ours and I venture to say it will go to 250,000 no problem.

Smooth, quiet and a lot more peppy than my 2000 Windstar.

  • So much better than Chrysler - 2006 Toyota Sienna

This is a quiet-running vehicle. I can actually hear my kids talking to me from the 3rd row seats. At neighborhood speeds, I barely hear the van running. It is easier to park than the Chrysler Town & Country van I previously drove for 8 years. The cargo area is very practical for hauling groceries, soccer gear, anything. It is recessed from the rest of the floor level, so things dont shift and roll around the van. It is easy to drive. It drivesmore like a car than a minivan. A big plus is that it comes in AWD. Not a 4 wheel drive option that I can shift into if needed. It drives in 4 wheel mode as needed. Excellent control, tight steering. Buy it!

  • So far, so good! - 2009 Toyota Sienna

This is my third van (the other two were a Ford and an Olds) and the Toyota is definitely the best riding. Build quality is excellent and the engine very smooth and powerful. At this point I have no complaints, but have high expectations based on Toyotas reputation. Will keep you updated.

3-year lease on an XLE. Did not bother to get it with nav or entertainment. Since we have smartphones, this seems like a good choice even a month on. Good looking van. Some questionable exterior design choices (like the presence of a quite visible panel at the lower end of the sliding doors.) Wife loves the black color. Interior is (like many people mentioned) a bit cheap looking, but hey if that bothers you so much, you should not buy it at all. Design of the cabin lights is really bad. The back of the 3rd row along with the appearance of the cargo well is not as polished as the Odyssey. Comm Technology is not good at all. Bluetooth is a hit-or-miss affair.

I just bought LE 8 passenger seats, and it is well worth it. However, I think Odyssey represents a better value than the Sienna. If only I could live with 7+1 seats in Odyssey, I would have bought Odyssey. The 8 seaters offers more flexibility. Everything works fine. It takes some short learning curve to master removing the middle seat however.

  • Great Machine - 2004 Toyota Sienna

I am extremely pleased with the very well thought out engineering of this vehicle. We ordered it with every option and are happy we did. No complaints

As an engineer,I am impressed with the design and function of the machine. Avg. MPG: town-21 to 23, trip-26 to 28. Driveline is seamless in all its functions. Comfort is on the Lexus level. Versitility is outstanding. Appears to be a step function above the Honda "O". It is too early to comment on reliability. Initial build quality appears to be 10 out of 10.

Just picked up the vehicle and it is everything I was hoping it would be. Very intelligently designed and an excellent use of space. Highly recommend this vehicle!
