Model Overview:

Buyers looking for a smart choice in the minivan segment will undoubtedly find themselves considering the Toyota Sienna. Since its introduction in 1998, the Sienna has won over families with its versatility, features, safety record and reputation for reliability.

In reviews, we've lauded the Sienna for its smooth, refined ride and easy-to-drive nature. Another plus is that Toyota has generally offered all-wheel drive on the Sienna, making it a more practical alternative to large three-row crossover SUVs. More recent Siennas can be downright plush in higher trim levels, and there's even an SE model with a sport-tuned suspension that's genuinely sporty. Whichever version you choose, you'll be getting one of the most dependable and rewarding minivans on the market.

  • Weak Shifting, Steering and Mileage - 2008 Toyota Sienna
    By -

Acceptable performance at best. Sadly disappointed in several key features. Shifting at low engine speeds frequently causes unacceptable shift quality from 1st to 2nd gear. Intermittent but you see it way too often. Very poor gas mileage. I assume many of those who post good mileage are relying upon their electronic readout in the van. My inaccurate readout tells me I get 26+ MPG highway while the gas pump says 21 MPG at best. Same or worse mileage in town than if I drive our 10 year old beater Plymouth van! The engine change Toyota made in their vans a few years back provides twice the noise of the previous engine. The steering is acceptable at best but the weakest of any brand we drove.

I have driven an SUV for 15 years. After I test drove the Sienna I had to have it. It drives like a car and is impressively comfortable. They thought of everything.

  • Give me a some new rear brakes that work - 1999 Toyota Sienna
    By -

My Sienna CE and have had an on going problem with the rear brake drums. The rear brakes have a thumping sound under low speed braking. There is little point to machine the rear brake drums, since this remedy does not work. Toyota has not been able to repair the rear brakes because of “hot spots or hard spots” in the drums. The turning of the drums is only a temporary solution and has the brake wear the “harden spots” become high spots that cause the thumping noise to occur.

  • Could not build a better minivan!!! - 2005 Toyota Sienna

Wife and I went back and forth between the Sienna and the Odyssey, finally went to drive both. She drove both twice, I didnt even need to drive the Odyssey... we loved the Sienna the second we were inside. Space, ride, comfort, mileage... TOTAL home run for Toyota!! And the treatment at the dealership... outstanding!! Also negotiated to $3,000 off sticker... just takes some patience but you CAN get a good deal!!

  • I love my van! - 2002 Toyota Sienna
    By -

This van is amazing. 102k mi and still going strong. Its a Toyota after all. Only maintenance weve done is preventative every 5k mi. No issues with sludge like some people have had. It does go through brakes more often than I prefer. Had them done at 70k mi due to vibration/shaking in steering wheel, then redone under warranty due to steering wheel vibration again @ 72k mi. Had the calipers replaced then as well. When it started again at 73k mi I just lived with it. Van stopped fine, it just vibrated & felt awful. I recently had them done again @ 102k & had to replace the rotors this time. Apparently Ive had issues with rotors warping & calipers sticking. Mechanic thinks its due to non toyota parts & not replacing the rotors after warping the first time. Were giving Toyota brakes a try this time. Time will tell. I run mid grade fuel only. I notice when I use the lower grade fuel or fuel from cheap stations I hear piston chatter when accelerating on the fwy. I only use Shell, chevron or 76 Weve been on 13 hour road trips loaded to the max & this van scoots! I have plenty of power to pass if needed and I like that. Takes the hills in the mountains without hesitation. I could pull the grapevine grade in California at 90 if I pushed it. It does 75 with ease. I like that I can remove the back seats & have tons of cargo room. If you have to use those seats for passengers, as we have in the past, there isnt a lot of room in the back for luggage. A roof rack & cargo bag are a must. The front seats are comfortable and have held up well. The arm rest on drivers side is starting to show wear from my arm and one of the vent covers has a crack. Weve had to replace the sliding door handle, the rear liftgate handle & door seal due to a leak we finally found. Sometimes the button on the sliding door on drivers side gets stuck in. After some messing with it, it pops back out. The other sliding door doesnt like to release & the kids have to give it a whack & itll open. Other than those few things its great! Well likely keep it until the motor goes in another 100k mi.

  • Good Van, Bad Dealership - 2003 Toyota Sienna

We purchased this van in Nov. 2002. We have had no major problems with it just wear and tear items. The Sienna has been great to us we will definitely own another Toyota.

  • The Great Sienna CE! - 2003 Toyota Sienna
    By -

CE has it all. It has safety, looks, ride, comfort, essential power items. I do not want power sliders liftgate, not reliable and slow. They add to the cost. Honda-arrogance at buying at sticker, more $$. Chrysler has trans and transaxle problems, shift funny, Gm- unrelaible, no resale. CE is VALUE! LE/xle, too much $$! Prediction,Honda below invoice in summer as Toyotas 2004 van will force them to swallow their arrogance and get on knees and ask customers to kindly come back. Too late!

  • 2004 Sienna - Were SOLD! - 2004 Toyota Sienna

We are extremely pleased w/ our purchase! I cant believe how quiet and smooth the ride is. Though the horsepower is allegedly lower than competition, this engine has plenty of get-up-and-go. We love the "fold-flat- into-floor" backseat; it adjusts at the simple pull of a strap. The convenience of the movable 2nd row captain chairs provide an added sense of security by allowing us to put our 2- yr old closer to the center of the vehicle. This also allows him a better view of the portable DVD we carry wherever we go. My wife loves the fact that on rainy days, she can get all the way to the back row w/out exiting the vehicle. Would recommend to anyone!

  • Love My New Van - 2007 Toyota Sienna
    By -

Although I only have slightly more than 300 miles on my new van, I really am enjoying it. I have owned a 1986 and 1996 Dodge Caravan and the Toyota drives much smoother. The interior is plush, the seats are very comfortable, and the ease of stowing the third row seat is perfect!
