Model Overview:

Buyers looking for a smart choice in the minivan segment will undoubtedly find themselves considering the Toyota Sienna. Since its introduction in 1998, the Sienna has won over families with its versatility, features, safety record and reputation for reliability.

In reviews, we've lauded the Sienna for its smooth, refined ride and easy-to-drive nature. Another plus is that Toyota has generally offered all-wheel drive on the Sienna, making it a more practical alternative to large three-row crossover SUVs. More recent Siennas can be downright plush in higher trim levels, and there's even an SE model with a sport-tuned suspension that's genuinely sporty. Whichever version you choose, you'll be getting one of the most dependable and rewarding minivans on the market.

  • Watch the DOORS! - 2005 Toyota Sienna

Sliding rear doors have been malfunctioning since purchased. Do not buy this model if you live in cold climates: the sliding doors freeze shut on a regular basis. Also one of the sliding doors malfunction and will not open at all (feels like the child lock is on even when it is off.) Other people with same problems can be found on edmunds.com under Toyota Sienna. Dealer wants $850.00 to fix. It really seems like a defective door yet they want consumer to cover the cost. In addition, dont ever try reaching Toyota on their 800 number unless you have time to spare. I was on hold 60 min before they picked up. Other times I hung up after 20 min. Not concerned for customer.

  • A MiniVan Must Buy - 2004 Toyota Sienna
    By -

My husband and I went looking for a SUV with a 3rd row of seats as we have 2 small children. We had a Jeep Grand Cherokee and we needed something a little bigger. We were completely against buying a minivan. We went to the Toyota dealership to drive 2 different SUVs. This particular dealership didnt have either one of the SUVs we were wanting to look at. The salesman got me to drive a Sienna and before I even drove it I fell in love with it. It is the best car I have ever owned. Well worth the cost.

  • Beware matching price claims - 2016 Toyota Sienna
    By -

Edmunds was great to find the car I wanted and help with pricing. I shopped a couple of dealers and one, Bob Baker Toyota, claimed they would beat anothers price, when I got there the manager said he made a mistake. Beware of such claims and gimicks. Toyota of San Diego seemed much more straitforward and honest.

  • A relief - 2005 Toyota Sienna

We were looking for a vehicle that was safe and one that was great for everyone to want to be in and the Sienna is the perfect fit. I am also able to use it for my business and the middle row seats easily come out and the rear seats fold flat. We test drove several vehicles and decided Sienna was the one for us. Plus we were able to get a great deal on it as well.

  • Better Than Honda! - 2005 Toyota Sienna

This van is excellent, I was recently in an accident on I-99 in Sacramento area, and I was side swiped while changing lanes and I hit part of the guardrail as I tried to dodge most of the car that hit me! Well, anyways it was me, my wife, and our 9-year-old daughter! All 3 rows of airbags deployed and so did the front and side airbags up front! I had minor bruises from airbag, but I rather have that than be dead! My wife and daughter didn’t have a single scratch! By the way I was going around 60 mph on the freeway at the time! This van has excellent safety features, good fuel economy, very brisk acceleration, ride comfort, and built quality! I did get another Sienna. It is the 06!

  • I love my Sienna - 1999 Toyota Sienna
    By -

Ive had this van for over a year. I just love it! Ive had more than 20 cars before this one, and this is the best Ive ever had! And I will stay with Toyota! I routinely have the maintenance done by dealer. Had many long trips (16 hours non-stop drive), yet it never gave me any problem. I dont know the problems with those guys, but its probably the dealer who gave you the hard time and you in turn blamed on Sienna? Anyway, I just love this car.

  • Just got it four days ago - 2005 Toyota Sienna

This is the most well thought out vehicle Ive owned. The interior features are outstanding - the cup holders, hooks, controls, folding seats, console, everything. Great convenience. Great handling for a van. Previously had a 2002 Sienna, which we liked, but this is a huge improvement. Also own a 2004 Lexus 330 ES and the van compares favorably for creature comforts and handling.

  • Transmission requires help - 2004 Toyota Sienna
    By -

My major complaint is an unfortunate lack of power when de-accelerating. For example when slowing down from a highway off-ramp to take a right turn. If you do not come to a complete stop, the transmission does not kick down and you get no acceleration till you stomp on the gas pedal. It is a bit scary when you are tryng to beat on-coming traffic. With the added cargo space in the back, filling up the van with 8 passengers and luggage taxes the rear suspension and driving is not too pleasureable!

  • Excellent - 2008 Toyota Sienna
    By -

I have compared all three major vans like odyssey, quest and sienna. No doubt Sienna tops among all three. With 8 passenger is really worth and the same thing in odyssey even kids cant sit it that middle seat (that much small). Its just a week I started driving this but still few negative points like you cant make the 2nd row as bench seat by removing the middle seat and no power option for opening trunk in LE models. If Toyota comes up with more option for LEs then no other minivan can come closer to this including odyssey.

  • The best van on the planet... - 2007 Toyota Sienna
    By -

I reluctantly entered the mini-van world last year. I thought that my life had lost all meaning. However, the Toyota quickly restored my faith. I have always had Hondas and Toyotas and the Sienna is by far the nicest riding vehicle that I have ever owned. Most comforting, given this difficult transition from car to van, was that the Sienna is also the fastest minivan on the planet by a long shot - 0-60 mph in a little over 7 seconds is not too shabby-leave Honda and Nissan owners in the dust. Surprisingly good fuel economy for a vehicle this size (25mpg average). Toyota build quality is the best. Only service problem we have had was that the digital clock.
