Model Overview:

Buyers looking for a smart choice in the minivan segment will undoubtedly find themselves considering the Toyota Sienna. Since its introduction in 1998, the Sienna has won over families with its versatility, features, safety record and reputation for reliability.

In reviews, we've lauded the Sienna for its smooth, refined ride and easy-to-drive nature. Another plus is that Toyota has generally offered all-wheel drive on the Sienna, making it a more practical alternative to large three-row crossover SUVs. More recent Siennas can be downright plush in higher trim levels, and there's even an SE model with a sport-tuned suspension that's genuinely sporty. Whichever version you choose, you'll be getting one of the most dependable and rewarding minivans on the market.

  • Battery Rundown - 2004 Toyota Sienna

I like nearly everything about the 2004 Sienna XLE we purchased except for the fact that the Battery has rundown at least 10 times over the 18 months that weve owned it for various reasons. E.g. children left interior lights on or door open. Extremely frustrating, and no Toyota fix available. For a van sold on all its family friendly features (which is mostly accurate) this was one major engineering oversight.

This car was an upgrade from our 2007 LE AWD model. I love this car. All of the nicer amenities are very well done. The steering is much nicer--not hard and trucky like our old one--and it handles well both on the highway and on country roads and city streets. The back up camera in the dash is very useful, something I didnt have before and wouldnt have thought I would like. The driver armrest is higher in this car than our old one, but it still bugs me that it is not adjustable apart from the seat back. The entertainment system is easy to use and keeps the kids happy. Love the side shades and the auto doors and back gate--I use all of those a lot.

Love to drive it. Very comfortable for long rides. The back 60/40 fold is the most important feature for us. It allows us numerous ways to configure when either traveling or just hauling things. With the rear seats up, the cargo space in the back is wonderful, especially for groceries, etc.

The car drives smoothly without any notice to shifting. The turning radius is outstanding and the van is extremely comfortable, luxurious, and functional for a family of five. We love it.

  • Best Van out there - 2004 Toyota Sienna

Still have a 92 Previa. Sienna is much like it only quieter and more power. Comfortable ride and good inside features. No mechanical problems. Excellent room for tall people. Great cargo space. FWD needs studed snow tires for going up hills in snow/ice conditions. 4 wheel drive works better. Good value for your money. Son used it for a special driving course and it handled just great in quick tight turns.

  • LOVE IT! - 2004 Toyota Sienna

We bought the 2004 XLE model because of the third row fold flat into the floor seats, the ability to open the center windows, the spacious interior, the leather seats that dont look cheap, power doors and liftgate, middle bench seats easily fold or move together. We had a 2002 model that did not have these features and wanted to upgrade. I am so glad we did because I am so happy with this van. We test drove the Mazda and Honda, but the ride quality could not compare. We love the reliability that all our Toyota vehicles have demonstrated.

  • Im glad we waited! - 2004 Toyota Sienna

After keeping our 1993 Toyota Previa for 215,500 miles (original drive train and transmission), we are loving Toyota! We NEED AWD, and were disappointed that the Siennas didnt come with AWD. Alas! the 2004 model has it and we have had our new Sienna for two weeks now. LOVE IT! Dealers dont seem to want to work hard to find them with AWD, and the first dealer told us that we had to take whatever came along because they were in such hot demand! Cant seem to keep my husband out of my drivers seat! (Except when hes watching the DVDs with the kids.)

  • 2010 Sienna Not For City Driving! - 2010 Toyota Sienna
    By -

My new 2010 Sienna LE FWD is getting a disappointing 14 mpgs city, and 19 mpgs highway. The on-board computer displays an average of 16.4 mpgs for the 1,600 miles Ive driven it. This is far short of the 17/27 and average 19 mpgs advertised. The vehicle has an extremely wide feel to it which is threatening when you are on narrow city side streets with on- coming traffic. The turning radius is wide. Turning into a narrow parking lot space is a challenge. Its hard to pull into a space evenly straight, The Van is usually angled and you have to jockey it back and forth to straighten it out. This is not an agile vehicle for tight city driving. Its a very smooth quit ride on the open road.

  • Good, except gas mileage and 2nd row - 2015 Toyota Sienna
    By -

Good power and handling for such a large vehicle. A lot of interior space. The regular maintenance itemized by Toyota is a small list, including oil changes only every 10k miles. I like that the powertrain is relatively standard (e.g. no engine start/stop, cylinder de-activation, direct injection, timing belt, or CVT), which I hope translates to high reliability. Problems: 1. Center console latch broke. Fixed under warranty. 2. Some small paint chips on front plastic bumper. 3. Alarm light flashes when parked, even if not locked. Dealership said this is normal, but I dont think it occurred when new. Issues with design: 1. I wish the van was not so large. It is not "mini" at all. The size of the Ford Transit Connect would be preferable, for me. 2. Poor gas mileage. This obviously partly correlates to the "standard" powertrain I like, and to the size of the vehicle. And it is inline with the EPA ratings, so no surprise. Just wish it was better. 3. The 2nd row is terrible. The 8 seaters 2nd row middle seat is ridiculously narrow, short, and the seat bottom is lower than the adjacent seats. Also, there is no LATCH attachments for the middle seat. It is almost useless. Finally, when you remove the 2nd row seats, there are runners in the tracks that remain. This makes it a non-flat load floor and the runners could get damaged when hauling items. Just an absolutely terrible design by Toyota for the 2nd row. Look at the Honda for how it should be done. 4. The 3rd row only has 2 sets of LATCH anchors, and one of them is in the middle of the wider section of the 60/40 split seat. So, you could not have two passengers in that section if you use the LATCH. Again, the Honda gets this right. 5. Not a full size spare tire.

Bought in Sept. 03, have over 4,000 miles with no problems. Fold down seats are a big plus. So much more room all around than the 96 for door SUV we traded in. Vehicle handled great in snow and ice condtions experienced in November trip.
