Overview & Reviews
Toyota's mini-SUV receives just a couple cosmetic changes this year. Models ordered with the Quick Order package now have gray-painted bumpers and overfenders, and Toyota has added color-keyed bumpers and overfenders to the "L" package. There are also three new L package colors: Rainforest Pearl, Spectra Blue Mica and Pearl White (Natural White and Vintage Gold have been discontinued).
- Steers and handles like a car, thoughtful cabin design, well-built interior.
- No V6 engine option, noisy, most desirable equipment is optional.

Rock and Roll, but Rattles and Shakes - 2002 Toyota RAV4
By Maybe - February 25 - 10:00 amGreat design in and out. Handles like a car with the advantage of sitting high. It puts a smile on my face. Great for around town and gas mileage is surprisingly good. I feel the king of the road (no more threatened by the size of monster SUVs). The inside is so roomy and practical yet so small and cute from the outside. Well this is for the Rock and Roll part lets talk about the Rattles and Shakes. Soon the rattling annoying noises crept up from somewhere in the back. The audio unit also buzz. It drives me crazy.I see that Im not the only one complaining about it, so Ill take an appointment with the dealer and raise hell if they do not fix it !

By photog4fun - February 21 - 1:16 amIve had my RAV4 for 4 1/2 yrs. now and it has been one of the best cars that Ive owned in the past 35 yrs. Top qualities that I love: 1. Higher viewing position compared to a sedan 2. Short, compact with plenty of room inside 3.Comfortable seats, easy to reach radio, good drink holders, nice ride 4. 24-26 mpg mostly highway travel 5. Highly reliable car with almost no mechanical problems over the past 80,000 miles Cons: 1. Slippery in icy conditions 2. Body dings easily

Toyota has a winner with the new RAV4 - 2002 Toyota RAV4
By FormerJeepOwner - January 14 - 10:00 amI traded in a Jeep Grand Cherokee on this vehicle & I am happy with the additional interior room on the RAV4 as well as the performance. I use my RAV4 for commuting and mainly city driving. The RAV4 has more head room than the Jeep and is more nimble to park and to drive in traffic. Add to that approx. 24-29 MPG vs. the Jeeps 16-20 MPG and the fuel saving start to add up. I recommend this car for reliability, resale value, quality of the engine/transmission & for 1-2 passengers especially. Great vehicle.

Compact, Economical, Great on Gas - 2002 Toyota RAV4
By Ken - December 22 - 5:06 pmIt helps the environment and my wallet to drive an SUV that utilizes fewer resources than most other compact SUV out there. The RAV4 is reliable, fuel efficient and economical to own (parts are fairly reasonable). I recommend this to anyone who cares about reliability, the environment and the price of gas today. Keep more cash in your wallet... drive a Toyota RAV4 people! Some may say it is not a cool car for guys to drive. I have heard it described as a "females" car. Well, if this is the case, then those "females" are some very smart people on this planet. They happened to stumble on a money saver!!

As much Sport as Utility - 2002 Toyota RAV4
By Drifter 7 - October 7 - 2:00 amMy mom bought a 2002 Rav4 in Nov, 2001, after weeks of research. Since then, it has continued to impress us, not only in its performace, but also in the utility and comfort. The only thing we have not been able to fit in was a 56" cabinet; even then, it was only 2 inches too long! The only reason (take note!) that I am not rating it as a perfect 10 is that my car is a 1982 RX- 7, which is a pure sports car. For some one who drives a minivan, itll be a blast!

The Safety Factor - 2002 Toyota RAV4
By gnikgnik - September 7 - 10:00 amI have a 2001 RAV4. Last Wednesday night, my brother had an accident on the freeway - he ran headfirst into the center divider doing 70 MPH and walked away without a scratch. If you are looking for a reliable, safe car that gets good gas mileage then the RAV4 is a great vehicle.

Who need a Huge SUV? - 2002 Toyota RAV4
By New Toyota Owner - September 1 - 11:13 pmThis has been a great purchase. There is plenty of room inside. Shortly after purchasing the car, I loaded up my wife, two kids, a cocker spaniel, a llasa apso and a rabbit and set off on a 750 mile trip for Christmas at Grandmas. The RAV4 handled the roof top carrier much better than the Olds Bravada I had had before. I never felt as though the RAV4 was unstable. Even loaded down I managed 27 mpg.

1st Time Toyota Buyer - 2002 Toyota RAV4
By toyotamb - April 14 - 2:00 amTraded a 2000 Jeep Wrangler in on this vehicle. Let me say, really impressed with the RAV-4 all around. Nice to get out of a gas hog and into something with better gas mileage. Love the handling, and the 4 cyl. gives my wife and I enough power that we need. Wont win a muscle car contest, but enough to get the job done. I believe that we will become loyal Toyota owners.
