This Year's Model Updates:

Already sporty-looking, the RAV4 compact SUV gets even sportier thanks to a new optional sport package that adds a new grille, a hood scoop, color-keyed door handles, heated exterior mirrors, tubular roof rack and gray-painted bumpers and overfenders. Inside, the package adds special sport fabric seats.

Pros:
  • Steers and handles like a car, thoughtful cabin design, well-built interior.
Cons:
  • Small displacement engine for the class, noisy, most of the desirable equipment is optional.

  • Great Mini SUV - 2003 Toyota RAV4

I Just purchased my RAV4 after researching for little over 6 months in the mini suv class. This is my first SUV, & I love it. So far, I am a happy first-time toyota driver. The ride is smooth, visibility is great, the stereo sound is perfect. I love the moonroof and overall sporty look of the RAV4 - it definitely stands out from the rest. The gas mileage also has been pretty good. My only complaint is the headrest is uncomfortable, and I am unable to get it to adjust just right.

  • A commuters dream car. - 2003 Toyota RAV4

I bought a RAV4-L with AWD and 5sp Man trans. I purchased largely due to interior comfort and driver space. Aestherics playes a role as well. Driving experience is very good. The car is very nimble, and handles road bumps with ease. Excellent brakes. Downside is a somwehat underpowered engine. The manual seems to make little difference due to the rather close gearing in the car. One could easily go from 2nd to 5th and not really miss 3rd and 4th. Torque comes in a very tight range of RPM and I find myself always dropping a gear or two to get the most out of the engine. Nevertheless, I have come to really enjoy how the car drives.

  • So Far So good - 2003 Toyota RAV4

I researched extensively before going to test drive Escapes, Libertys & the RAV4. Right after driving the RAV4, I bought it. The heck with the others! I think the engine is peppy enough & the gas mileage is comparable to the Ford Focus I traded. It rides good and looks stylish, sporty and cute. I now have a lot more room and the first day I made sure it could cross the creek to my favorite campsite! No problem!

Have not had any problems so far and the RAV4 was bought in November and already has about 10,000 miles.

  • Great Car! - 2003 Toyota RAV4

Purchased Nov 2003, I commute 160 miles RT four days a week. This car jams! Does 70-80 mph in carpool lane with no shakes. Tended to be really noisy inside until I got high quality tires. Gas mileage really disappointing for such a small car but handles like a dream, has plenty of power to pass vehicles on daily mountain pass climb, even with the air on! Lots of cargo room with back seats down. VERY stable in scary conditions - quick response and recovery. Tire size is NOT standard - hard to find replacements at decent prices. Just now replacing shocks/struts/brakes at 64K miles. Fun to drive, does very well on 4WD roads, extremely reliable.

  • Cute!!!! - 2003 Toyota RAV4

I have had my RAV for two months. I considered a wide variety of cars, including the New Beetle, Accord, Passat, Camry Solara and RAV. I had four major criteria - cuteness, fuel economy, reliability and safety. The RAV has lived up to all my expectations. I have done better than the fuel economy estimate of 29 mpg on the highway, yet the engine is very peppy. I had driven six cylinder cars for the last ten years and was pleasantly surprised at the acceleration of the the RAVs four cylinder engine. The back area is the perfect height to sit and put on my hiking boots. I highly recommend it for those seeking a reliable, practical and cute car.

Really suprised by the comfort and handling of nour Rav 4. It fits the whole family perfectly. 4 different drivers, 4 really different size people, and no matter who drives or sits where, its comfortable. It could use better gas milage. But it has been a dream to own!

Just traded in my 2007 Ford F-150 for the Rav4 to get better fuel economy. I was a little hesitant going from a v8 to a 4 cyl., but this car did not dissapoint! I recently had a spinal fusion and I can drive this car all day without it bothering my back. I am also a single mom of a two year old, this car has room enough for him and all of his "gear" as well as another friend. The gas mileage is great(especialy compared to my F-150).

  • Great Little SUV - 2003 Toyota RAV4

Flat out - Great Quality Car. Very easy to drive, great fuel economy compared to other SUVs, and the fact that its a Toyota says a lot. Engine is quiet and heats up quickly in cold conditions. And, the price is very comparable when it comes to an SUV. Very fun to drive in the city and handles great on the interstate.
