Overview & Reviews
The 2003 Toyota Prius, a hybrid-electric vehicle, is unchanged.
- Marathon fuel efficiency, roomy and comfortable interior.
- Quirky looks, no standard CD player, no fold-down rear seat, more expensive than most other frugal economy sedans.

Toyota Hybrid is a Winner - 2003 Toyota Prius
By homertcornish1 - June 21 - 9:16 amAfter 4 years of driving I have found the 2003 Toyota Prius an excellent auto in every category except for comfort. The newer models are 5 inches longer which should improve the comfort. My average highway mileage is over 50 mpg regardless of speed. In town mileage is closer to 45 (Toyota claims you get better mileage in town but its not true). It has plenty of power to go up mountains and can keep up with the best of cars and trucks on the Interstate. I have had only one minor glitch during the 4 years of my ownership and that was a minor computer that was replaced free by Toyota. Maintenance has been comparable to a regular gasoline car, except for the $700 cost of the 60,000 maintenance.

Great Car - 2003 Toyota Prius
By Vetteman_LT4 - June 18 - 2:00 amThe Prius has been a great car for the last two years I have owned it. My car is a 2001 and has around 50,000 miles. I have owned many cars such as Jaguars, Corvettes, Cadillacs. This is one very unique car. I bought the car new and have never had a problem. It is a great running car. No one believes me when I said I have had it up to 100mph just to see if it would do it.

Love a Hybrid - 2003 Toyota Prius
By earth - May 2 - 10:00 amI chose the Prius over the Honda Civic Hybrid after much homework and I am glad I selected the Prius.Currently,I have 5,000 miles on it,just returnilg from a trip to the Ozarks and the Smokies;the car handled very well on the interstate mountains, even at 85 m.p.h.--had to keep up with the semis.I am exceeding the m.p.g.rating,averaging around 51 combination city and highway-- most miles are interstate. The 04 model sounds even better;I do not think that I will ever buy another car unless it is a hybrid,so clean and economical.I love to drive by the service stations!

Car of the Future is here - 2003 Toyota Prius
By xkater - April 25 - 10:00 amThe Prius is amazing. It uses the best combination of engine, electric motor and battery to propell the itself. It recovers energy during braking and it minimizes engine use while stopped. I average 45 mi/gallon in the city and about 50 miles per gallon while traveling long distances. It is gentler to the environment and to my pocket.

Fun to save - 2003 Toyota Prius
By Klebel, Wolfgang - February 14 - 10:00 amI just have the Prius for a few week, but my dribving has changed. I save more gas because I drive with an eye on the Power picture, always being aware a little less gas can save it and get me there in good time. Especiallthe stopping and starting is more leasurly and saves!

Will never buy a gas car again - 2003 Toyota Prius
By newyawk2000 - February 14 - 8:53 amI bought my 2003 model Prius in late 2002. At the time only two hybrids were available in the market, the other was Honda civic. I chose the Prius because it was roomier. I had a major engine problem a year ago but thankfully was covered under warranty: The fuel injectors were replaced. Otherwise the only other problem has been the tires wearing out fast. Make sure you get a warranty on tires.

prius - 2003 Toyota Prius
By swochap - May 20 - 10:00 amOutstanding vehicle for the high mileage commuter. Great fuel economy, I have avgd 44 mpg combined during the first 11,000 miles over 3 months!! Fun to drive. Plenty of power. Rides nicely. Only minor fault is interior quality--fabric could be better grade.

Great car... wave to the gas pumps - 2003 Toyota Prius
By icvalue - April 21 - 4:56 amOutstanding car overall, Great gas mileage (46 avg.). Very reliable car. Better acceleration than most small cars and it handles very well. Much roomier than I expected.
