Overview & Reviews
For the 2005 Toyota Prius, a rear wiper is now standard, the sun visor material has been changed from vinyl to fabric, and the Smart Entry and Start system has been renamed the Smart Key System.
- Outstanding mileage, ultralow emissions, generous amount of interior room, hatchback utility, reasonable price, excellent build quality.
- Less power than other midsize sedans, some confusing controls, real-world driving results in lower mileage than the window sticker suggests.

Too New to Tell - 2005 Toyota Prius
By BooBooBear - September 24 - 2:13 pmJust bought it. Fun to drive. Good solid ride. Takes road bumps better than my minivan. Less than 5" of clearance so no off-roading. Im 510" and its comfortable inside. At 140 miles my mpg (it gives an mpg average read-out) is 36.9. It gives a continual mpg display. Mine shows 12- 36 mpg when starting up, but often settles in at 99.9 (the highest number displayed). Have hardly put a dent (down only one notch or less than 1/8 tank) in the 11.9 gal. tank. Can set everything on touchscreen (will take getting used to and takes eyes off the road), but many items can also be adjusted on the steering wheel. I just have to learn where they are.

Love my Prius - 2005 Toyota Prius
By Mike Denny - September 1 - 3:26 amI cant believe how much I enjoy this car. The comfort and economy are great. I use it most for commuting 70 miles round trip on the freeway, but it also performs well on trips weve taken for 300-400 miles. The gas economy isnt as good on these trips, but still better than we were getting with our Camry. People seem to be very curious about it and ask a lot of questions... especially "how often do you have to plug it in?" Ive had it for a year now, and wish Id gotten it sooner!

Love my Prius - 2005 Toyota Prius
By T - August 18 - 11:00 pmI love my Prius and would recommend one to anyone who asks. I went fron spending 75 dollars a week to 28. I also feel a great sense of satisfaction from knowing that I am not contributing to the emissions gases. My one wish is that the gas mileage was even better. When it goes up - Im trading this one in and jumping. I average about 45 mpg (48 in summer).

The perfect car - 2005 Toyota Prius
By Dave - August 12 - 8:53 amI love this car. Ive gone 150K miles and its still brand new; original tires being the only problem so far. I paid it off last year so, normally, Id buy a new car. But Id only get another Prius, so why? My only worry is the battery. Its covered to 150K; but nobody seems to know how long it will last. So far Ive replace nothing! And the brakes are still great! I Love This Car!

Best car Ive owned - 2005 Toyota Prius
By M. lawlor - August 12 - 4:00 amThere are two types of people. Those that are amazed by my new car and those that act unimpressed. The latter are just plain jealous. The Prius has all the coolest techy gadgets, amazing gas mileage, drives great and is quite comfortable. No wonder its the best car Ive ever owned.

Dots Prius - 2005 Toyota Prius
By Dot Lyndon - August 8 - 8:46 amI love this car! GPS Navigation system absolutely wonderful, takes a few trials to figure it out, but works extremely well. Only drawback is I will eventually need to purchase updates for new roads (cost unknown,) Keyless entry a great safety feature. Salesman explained most features.
