Overview & Reviews
For the 2005 Toyota Prius, a rear wiper is now standard, the sun visor material has been changed from vinyl to fabric, and the Smart Entry and Start system has been renamed the Smart Key System.
- Outstanding mileage, ultralow emissions, generous amount of interior room, hatchback utility, reasonable price, excellent build quality.
- Less power than other midsize sedans, some confusing controls, real-world driving results in lower mileage than the window sticker suggests.

"PRIUS, PROBABLY PERFECT" - 2005 Toyota Prius
By warren steinman - August 11 - 7:13 pmWe have put over 8,000 miles on the car in three months. We have taken several long trips LA to Mammoth. Freeway and mountain driving. My wife uses it as a daily commuter, 80 miles rt. It is a joy to drive. Good power, acceleration onto the freeway is excellent. Passing is no problem. Our previous car was a Mercedes c230 and the Prius is a close second in performance, and, hands down, more comfortable. The heads-up display is excellent. We like the hatch, and, we can fit three in the back seat without squeezing. Finally, we are averaging 45+ mpg with hard driving. "Nuff said"

Best Car I ever owned!! - 2005 Toyota Prius
By kornklan - July 24 - 4:20 amI waited a year for the car and Im glad I did. Its fun to drive and handles extremely well in town and on the highway. Its quiet with little road noise. Ive averaged about 50 MPG so far (7000 miles). I think Toyota has established the Prius as the car other manufactures will have catch up to. So far all Ive done is oil changes and kept it clean. I expect to keep this car a long time.

My Prius - 2005 Toyota Prius
By Karen - July 13 - 6:40 pmFunnest car that Ive ever had! Plenty of power, great milage, plenty of room inside. Now that this technology exists, I cant imagine why another car of any type should be built without it.

2005 Prius is everything you could want - 2005 Toyota Prius
By Steve Parker - June 20 - 7:00 pmWe waited 8 months for this car but it was worth it. We got it fully loaded which only brought the price to 26K. This includes a navigation system that is state-of-the-art. When you put the rear seats down you have as much room as an SUV. You cant beat the performance and the fuel economy. Buy it, you will not be disappointed. Be aware that you will get lots of envious looks from your neighbors

My First 300 miles - 2005 Toyota Prius
By Prius - June 11 - 10:00 amIt is a very thoughtfully designed car with the user in mind. The only possible objection I canmake, and it is getting used to, is the inability to see the front hood of the car. But it is great fun to drive and I am eager to use it more often than usual. I am hoping that the battery replacement 8 years from now will be significantly less costly than the current estimate of $2,000.
