Coming up on 120,000. I guess Ill get a tune-up. Every time I take it to the dealer they say its fine. Replaced the brakes once and had a ball bearing replaced. Other than that, it runs great. Husband bought me a new VW CC as an early Christmas gift - but I cant give up this SUV, so hell have to take the new car. I know this sounds crazy -- but why replace it if its running great!!! Plus it has more room and can haul more.

  • GREATEST SUV FOR YOU MONEY!!! - 2002 Toyota Highlander

I bought this SUV March 2001, own it for almost 1.5 years now, ABSOLUTELY PERFECT VEHICLE, NO PROBLEMS WHAT SO EVER!!! RECENTLY ADDED THE SIDE RUNNING TUBES. LOOKS GREAT!!! BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM MY TOYOTA DEALER!!! JUST NEED A REGULAR OIL CHANGE/ROTATE TIRES EVERY 5K MILES. I THINK ITS BETTER THAN PAYING DOUBLE FOR A BMW X5. SAVES YOU MONEY, NO LUXUARY TAX! AND BEST OF ALL ITS A TOYOTA!

  • Excellent with a few quirks - 2002 Toyota Highlander

I love this thing! Lots of power, lots of space, great sound system, handles well for its size/weight, mileage is good too. Only minor issues: slippery leather, poor stock tires, break shims had to be replaced on one wheel (bought it used at 30k miles though).

  • still lovin it after 4 years - 2002 Toyota Highlander

the comfort, reliability and reasonable gas mileage (avg. 18 mpg around town) makes this vehicle perfect for a single person or small family. i would not hesitate to by a newer model in say, 8- 10 years!

First let me say I didnt want this car but we bought it because it was in our price range. It had 77,000 miles when purchased. I am happy to say it grew on me over the past 2 yrs. Great fuel usage (400+ to the tank), low maintenance cost and reliability. Ours has 135,000 miles and the drivetrain is still strong! I have the 4 cylinder And it drives like a six cylinder Interior is durable and shows very little wear (even with the dogs) easy to clean and the paint still looks good.

  • My Highlander - 2002 Toyota Highlander

I found the Highlander to be an excellant mid size SUV. I replaced a 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the Highlander is far superior than the Jeep in style, comfort & reliability. There is enough room in the back for 2 child car seats & the leather seating in the limited is very comfortable. In the 7500 miles that I have owned the car (7 months) I am very pleased with all aspects of the car.

  • Very Overrated - 2002 Toyota Highlander

Weve owned a Highlander for about a year and a half, and overall, Im disappointed. I hate the soft steering - its hard to drive straight at highway speeds. And its not very quiet at high speeds. If you put down *any* window, you get the vibration/roar people talk about. The seats are unsupportive, and the seat bottoms are very short. Im 6-feet tall, and my back aches after driving for more than an hour. Nearly as bad as my wifes old RAV-4. The stock stereo is TERRIBLE. The back tonneau cover is heavy and badly designed -- must be handled *very* carefully to avoid bumping/scratching the interior or cargo. Lousy dealer, too.
