  • Now I know why Toyota is the worlds best selling ! - 2016 Toyota Highlander

My Highlander is the top of the line with every option. It is very lux and actually an easy replacement for my previous SUV a BMW X5. It is lighter by 1000 lbs and has 45 fewer bhp. The performance is comparable and the quality is superior! Im looking forward to not having $3000 repair bills to replace an alternator and then an air conditioning compressor.

  • Great Family SUV - 2016 Toyota Highlander

I needed an SUV to cart around my three children and all of their friends but didnt want a minivan. The Toyota Highlander is the perfect vehicle for us. I have the AWD version so that gas mileage isnt amazing but it is good and the handling in adverse weather conditions is excellent. I got a great deal on the vehicle at $34,000 and they seem to maintain their value. A big deciding factor for me is the reliability of the car. I wanted a vehicle that I wont constantly have to be bringing to the shop to fix "wear and tear" items. I dont have the time or energy to waste on going back and forth to the mechanic. When considering this vehicle I talked to my mechanic (that I love and trust) and he said that if everyone owned Toyotas, hed be out of a job. He stated that Toyotas regularly come into the shop and leave with only scheduled maintenance. The exterior styling could have been more unique for my tastes but it is classy and pretty sleek so Ill take it. The interior even at the LE Plus trim level is excellent. It is stain resistant cloth through the middle of the seats but trimmed with synthetic leather. After a month of driving it, my kids havent managed to stain anything yet. I also love that the middle seats slide forward (without having to remove the booster seats) to access the rear seats. You can also slide the middle seats forward or backward in many different positions to allow for more or less leg room in the third row. Having 8 seats is such a blessing. I find that I often keep only two seats up in the third row to give myself plenty of cargo space. I am looking forward to driving this car for many years to come.

  • Great Car Really Comfortable - 2016 Toyota Highlander
    By -

After the first drive and really settling into the car, it is very smooth easy drive. The navigation system is not that great and I am considering switching it out, but overall I am extremely satisfied with our car. It doesnt seem to be as heavy as the Honda Pilot that I was test driving and it was the little touches that really won me over on purchasing this car.

Like the style of car. Hate that Toyota nickels & dimes you for everything. My only negative review is that the cabin is much louder than I expected on the highway. I came out of a 2007 Toyota Avalon & the difference in the cabin noise is surprising. I would definitely recommend test driving on the highway. Other than that, overall is good. Wish there was a way to have Waze as an app instead of toyotas nav system. Its not as efficient as Waze. The third row is definitely for kids. No adult would ever prefer to sit In the third row, let alone three of them wouldnt fit in the third row.

  • Welcome to the Toyota family! - 2016 Toyota Highlander

Comfort, quietness, smooth ride (probably due to being new). Suitable for us as a family of four. Great travel vehicle. Planning to keep this in the family for at least 15 years until the girls go to college. Only drawback, when your flooring the gas pedal the Highlander has a hard time figuring out when to shift to the next gear. I noticed that when you floor the car, it will pull hard but the RPM is revving high up to 5000 RPM but the gear doesnt shift to the next fast enough. I dont know about other owners, but that is weird. Usually when you floor a vehicle, it should only take a second of so to shift 1-2-3-4-5. My RPM sits up in the 5000 range for about 2 seconds then drops to the next gear. Overall, satisfy with purchase.

  • Overall a very good car - 2016 Toyota Highlander

Everything is good with some rooms for improvement: 1. Dash design is nice but lack of flat area to mount other items such as phone holder or dash camera. Windshield seems is the only place to mount , which reduces the visibility. 2. Mpg is not as good as rated. I have 70% local 30% hwy and I get 18 mpg.

  • My Second Highlander and Love it! - 2016 Toyota Highlander
    By -

I only have 1000 miles on it as I have had it less then a month, but love it so far! My last highlander was a 2008 Limited and had 130,000. The only repairs it ever had were new tires and brakes. I am hoping this one is the same. I love the automatic high beams, cruise control that adjusts to traffic, and the bluetooth. The touch screen is easily navigated and home screen keeps all the important and most used apps at your finger tips. My sons love the heated back seats and the headrest mounted DVD players (dealer installed but not made by Toyota). I was hoping for more interior room, the MPG is also not great at 19-20 average (and most of my driving is on country roads, not stop and go traffic). I thought after 8 years Toyota would have done a little better. But overall, I LOVE my new Highlander!

  • Once you drive it youll buy it - 2016 Toyota Highlander

Dont trade in if you can sell to a private party. Find an enet sales person who wants to make a sale, and not at $450 or 750 below MSR-deal and be ready to walk away if their feet are in concrete. Search the whole state for your car, it could likely be to your interest and let them know if the price is right youd make the trip. Test drive before you start seriously looking. Be ready for the finical officer hes got a ton of service and extended contracts and remember you have an option under Toyotas warranty and road service to buy any other extended contracts before theirs end.

  • Great Value proposition with style. - 2016 Toyota Highlander

The Highlander is big, it has three rows of seats, however it does not feel like a large car when you are driving. The size does make it comfortable for adults, the 2nd row seats have plenty of room even for larger/taller people. I really enjoy the "shelf" located slightly below the dashboard. It makes a great place to put your phone, glasses, laundry ticket, etc, you get the picture. It also has a large center console for bigger items. The onboard tech is OK, the Toyota Entune system has a couple of OK features including notification of txts and emails - although you cannot read them while driving but you can send a standardized response. You also have apps for Open Table, sports, stocks, movie tickets and a few others. The stereo, although listed as a premium system is not very powerful and the tone/quality is fair at best. The NAV is OK to use, the voice activation commands work best for making bluetooth phone calls but using it to NAV or perform other functions is mediocre. The motor sounds fine at most speeds but I do hear a "whine" or higher pitched tone from time to time that I do not care for. Also, the Homelink function is difficult to program. I have succeeded in getting button 1 programmed but the other buttons are not working. (I have not contacted Toyota yet on this issue) The pros are the nice size, overall styling and functionality, the cons are a couple of extra noises, avg stereo and mediocre grade leather on the seats. My net opinion, I would buy this car again and would recommend it to you!
