  • After a year - 2002 Toyota Highlander

The Highlander has been a pleasure to drive this past year. The vehicle has outstanding build quality and solidity. It is very quiet and easy to drive. Comfort for rear seat passengers is good, especially with the reclining rear seats. The size of the vehicle is a good balance that provides adequate hauling capacity while keeping down vehicle weight. I was able to carry a rolled 9 x 12 carpet inside. Controls are sensibly placed and easy to operate. It took a little while to get used to the brakes. At first they felt a little bit soft, but the vehicle has good stopping distance and control. Turning radius is significantly better than the Lexus RX300.

  • going to buy another one - 2002 Toyota Highlander

originally bought it for the wife. now i have to drive it all accross Texas. Excellent when you have 4-5 hours of driving, no sore back. Quiet, not one minute of down time in almost 40,000 in less than 1 1/2 years. going to buy another one. this is my 7th Toyota, they are the best on the road.

  • A great Drive - A great Rig. - 2002 Toyota Highlander

With just under 5,000 miles on my Highlander I can say it is just as sound and as fun to drive as my 2000 Avalon. My wife is on her second Tahoe and likes them really well. But I find her taking my Highlander when she has a chance. Much easier to get up into and still has great visibility. There is no comparison in cornering/handling and fuel economy. It cant tow as much as the Tahoe but it pulls a 18 fishing boat very easily. I bought it to handle the South Dakota winters and still be able to run up and down the roads after the pheasants. Not getting rated fuel milage as of yet but it is close.

  • 4-cylinder Review - 2002 Toyota Highlander

This car is pure joy. The 4-cylinder has more than enough power, and you save $1,500 + better gas mileage. The quality is great, same as other Toyotas. At first, I had a hard time spending $26k for this car compared to buying a Camry or Accord, but now Im glad I did. The utility and extra space this vehicle affords is well worth the difference.

  • 5.5 years and still loving it! - 2002 Toyota Highlander
    By -

I originally bought this car, my first Toyota, because it was rated #1 in Advanced Safety (the lighted running boards were a plus too!). Over 77,000 miles later, it still gets 22 mpg around town, 26 mpg on road trips and Ive only had to replace the tires at 56,000. No other expense except for oil changes every 3,000 miles. That emissions light does come on with the gas cap issue, but I just let it stay on. Cargo compartment more than adequate for my needs -- 400 lbs of chicken feed and two bales of hay on the luggage racks on top! Back seat comfortably seats three if you need to. I just had it detailed so it is brand new all over again and I couldnt ask for a better, more dependable car

  • 4 Cylinder - Better Than You Think - 2002 Toyota Highlander
    By -

I think most people assume that you need the V-6 option with the Highlander, but if your driving is mostly suburban, the 4 cylinder is more than adequate. The 4 cylinder also does well in highway driving. I chose the 4 cylinder because I wanted to maximize my fuel economy, but still get into a somewhat larger SUV. (I used to drive one of the mini-SUVs)

  • One of the best cars Ive ever owned - 2002 Toyota Highlander
    By -

Bought this car new in 02 and have put over 260,000 miles on it and dont regret the purchase ever and would consider buying another 02 Highlander to replace it (with fewer miles, of course, maybe 150,000 if I could afford it). Has never let us down. Vehicles like this justify Toyotas "cant kill em" reputation, not to mention the loyalty of long-term Toyota owners (bought my first one in 71).

  • great car/suv - 2002 Toyota Highlander
    By -

I have had this suv for almost one week, I was looking at the Madza Tribute and the Isuzu Rodeo. This is by far a superior suv to the above two. The ride is incredible and I got a great price, even under the price on Edmunds. This is like riding in the Lexus RX300.

  • Oh, what a feeling!!! - 2002 Toyota Highlander

This is my first Toyota, and my first SUV, but if they keep building them like this, it will not be my last! I havent a single complaint after about 4 months of ownership.
