Very good vehicle - 2003 Toyota Highlander
By Rick - July 15 - 11:03 pmThe Highlander is not very exiting to drive but a very good all around vehicle. It has a smooth ride and is fairly quiet. We average 21-23 MPG. It has been rock solid without a single problem in 47K miles. I agree with the person who wrote in about the wind noise with the back windows down. It really hurts my ears. There is plenty of room for passengers, but at the sacrifice of a little more cargo room. I like that you can step right into it without stepping up or dropping down. Drove it from CT to FL and I wish the front seat was a little more comfortable. Once complaint is that it seems to require constant corrections to keep driving straight on the highway (alignment is fine).

Best car I have ever had - 2003 Toyota Highlander
By Michelle Earnest - July 11 - 8:30 pmI have put 60,000 miles on my Highlander in 2 years. It is reliable, fun to drive, comfortable and roomy. The DVD player is great for the kids and the JVC stereo system is awesome. The heated seats are a nice upgrade. Mileage is a solid 22mpg. Air conditioning is a big improvement over my previous Dodge minivan - cools down quickly and maintains temp well. I would buy another one without question!

a quality vehicle - 2003 Toyota Highlander
By mon - July 11 - 10:00 amWe did our homework on SUVs over a period of months & time & time again,we kept returning to the Toyota highlander. With the quality built into this vehicle,we can see ourselves holding on to this vehicle for a good 6 or 7 years or possibly longer. In other words, you get what you pay for.

Impressive! - 2003 Toyota Highlander
By sbbinau - June 29 - 2:00 amDrive this thing long enough and you will swear you are in a sedan. Quiet, smooth, powerful, tight. No road noise...just the low hum of a wonderful V-6. Space is ample, driving comfortable. Classy feel on interior, even in non-limited package. Mileage so far has been so-so...but should improve as vehicle gets broken in. You will like this SUV...trust me.

Buyer beware - 2003 Toyota Highlander
By bk - June 27 - 2:46 amWe purchased this car new and kept it dealer maintained for 7 years. I found it to be quite a reliable vehicle until recently. At 118,000 miles it developed a coolant leak. It was ultimately found to be due to stripped out threads in the engine block (i.e. the car needed a new engine ~ $7500.00). After discovering that I was not the only one to experience this problem (check online Toyota forums), I notified Toyota. The Rep stated, "Your engine may be defective, but we cannot help you because you are out of warranty." Beware of the 4 cylinder engine in the 03 Highlander! A dealer maintained vehicle is worthless, and Toyota has lost a customer. And so it goes.
