  • Still love this car - 2003 Toyota Highlander

After almost a year of driving my Highlander, I still love it. After driving vans for many years I wanted a smaller vehicle but just couldnt get comfortable in a regular sedan. The Highlander is perfect for me. It drives like a car but functions like a small van. The gas mileage is great. I will keep it for a long, long time.

A great car that handles and drives wonderfully and it is very easy to manuever in parking lots. It has traction control and AWD and it works great on slippery roads.

  • Brakes are too soft - 2003 Toyota Highlander
    By -

I am still trying to figure out why the brakes are so soft... This is not an offroad vehicle that needs this type of feature. Am I the only one with this problem b/c the dealer will hear about this. I do feel safe stopping at a light with the possibility that i may hit the car in front unless i stop much further back than a reasonable distance...

  • The SUV that drives like a car - 2003 Toyota Highlander

I was looking to buy an SUV, but didnt want to give up the comfort and smooth ride of a normal car. The Toyota Highlander was a perfect match for me and I do not regret my choice. If you decide to buy the Highlander, I would vividly recommend the Limited AWD version (you reallt get the most bang for the buck).

  • Just unloaded jeep grand cherokee - 2003 Toyota Highlander
    By -

I just bought this car after getting rid of my much defective grand cherokee. As far as style and power, the jeep was more of a "kick ass" look and feel. I am getting used to driving this one now. It feels okay but dosent have the power that the jeep had. If there werent so many mechanical problems with the jeep, i would of bought another one. I like the look, style, feel and power much better. Too bad

  • Former Toyota...stripped head bolts - 2003 Toyota Highlander
    By -

2003 Toyota Highlander 2.4 L 4-cylinder engine, 108,000 miles, perfect service, until it developed coolant leak on the back side of the top of the engine, adjacent to an insulator pad at the back of the engine block. The back 3 head bolts were completely stripped, allowing coolant to leak into the engine. Toyota dealer says the short block or entire engine must be replaced, with no other option [$5200- $7400+.] Based on the frequency of identical engine failures, faulty factory assembly and/or design assures eventual failure of the engine. 25-year Toyota fan, probably lost forever.

  • Great SUV - 2003 Toyota Highlander
    By -

I drove my son-in-laws 300RX Lexus for 6 months. That was a mistake. I was out of the USA for 18 months and often reviewed SUVs on the internet. Within 24 hours of returning to my home I was driving a 2003 Highlander. Its a great vehicle, solid, fun to drive and comfortable. Gas mileage as been 22 mpg in city.

  • Great Little Truck - 2003 Toyota Highlander

I currently have 68k miles. No problems at all. I have only changed the oil and tires. I am on my second set of tires. Factory tires where Goodyears are very soft. I get around 22-25 hwy mileage. Would buy another one in a minute. Waiting for the redo in 06. Plenty of space, drove to the Keys last year with family, fully loaded, got over 23 mpg. Would get the 4WD next time. ECT snow switch has gotten me out of some tough spots.

  • SUV = Sedan-U-V - 2003 Toyota Highlander
    By -

After researching and Test Driving Midsize SUV for more than 6 Months, I chose the Highlander. This vehicle gives me all the utility I needed without sacrificing the comfort I wanted. The car-like ride is smooth, coupled with the intuitive layout of the controls, gave me an instant feel of comfort. There was never an awkward moment in the vehicle. The more I drive it, the more comfortable and secure I feel. None of the competing SUVs, gave me such peace of mind. I am totally satisfied with my purchase! Test drive the rest, but you will definitely settle on the best, like I did.

The Highlander is a fun car to drive. The turning radius is much better than the Lexus RX300.
