Overview & Reviews
Toyota's car-based Highlander SUV receives no changes this year.
- Roomy interior, car-like ride and handling, spunky V6 engine.
- Rear seat is uncomfortably low, no third-row seat, limited towing and off-road abilities.

Six Month Experience - 2002 Toyota Highlander
By Ron - August 8 - 2:00 amComfortable ride and driving experience. Really a car with SUV capabilites for bad weather and road conditions. Like the high ride with car feel. Would not reccommend for real off-road activites. has very nice cargo capacity for a SUV of its size. I really like the tight feel of the car and Toyota dependability.

Great car - 2002 Toyota Highlander
By jwilson778 - August 4 - 2:00 amAfter 18 mos one trip to dealer to fix rear axle seal. Smooth v-6, decent mileage very good storage for the size. 8 year warranty on engine (to address sludge fears). Traded Odyssey LX for this more reasoable sized car but still have the high ride height and got AWD

Wow - what a steal! - 2002 Toyota Highlander
By nctorr - July 28 - 10:00 amThis is a great SUV. It drives and handles like a car; and, it has ground and curb clearance like a truck. I have driven it on and off pavement and found that it works well either way. I did learn that SUVs hydroplane just as well as cars do...but I dont think its the SUV (if you get my drift). The Highlander is a handsome car with very easy features internally, like collapsing the back seat (VERY EASY), and changing CDs while driving. Everything is made easy for the driver and passenger!!! Great Car!

Great Vehicle - 2002 Toyota Highlander
By Ted83 - June 21 - 10:00 amI could not be more pleased with my Highlander. Mine is one year old with 15,000 miles. It has not had the first problem. What more can I say?

One year latter - 2002 Toyota Highlander
By Paul DeBoni - June 16 - 10:00 amTypical Toyota product. You can spend thousands more and not get better fit, finish and dependability. The only reason it wasnt rated any higher is that it is still an SUV and cant compare in shear joy of driving with a sport sedan or sports car. For an SUV it comes as close as any Ive dirven. Handles as if it were much smaller and lighter. The only preceived weakness is in numb steering feed back, and the crapy tires that come with it.

wish I was impressed - 2002 Toyota Highlander
By mel4reviews - June 4 - 4:57 pm132K miles and second time its the catalytic converter. Additionally, for a 4-cyl, I should really get better gas mileage. Need to go back to a different maker. My first and ONLY Toyota.

Best SUV - 2002 Toyota Highlander
By e jeffreys - May 18 - 5:26 amBest SUV we ever owned. Rides like a luxury car, handles cargo like a Surburban. Excellent performance and perfect reliability.

Excellent Deal - 2002 Toyota Highlander
By Leader - May 11 - 2:00 amThe Highlander was the right choice for us. We were looking for smooth and car driving features in an spacious quality reliable SUV. In addition weve got a decent base engine with good torque that will be enough to pass a vehicle, and good savings in gas.

Another Great Toyota - 2002 Toyota Highlander
By WAGS - May 10 - 10:00 amAnother great Toyota. A Lexus in blue jeans or a Camry on steroids. The interior layout is great with plenty of front and rear leg room as well as plenty of space side to side. The thing drives spectacularly smooth with good acceleration. A nice addition to our collection of Toyotas.
