  • Highly recommend the Toyota Highlander! - 2016 Toyota Highlander
    By -

Weve had our 2016 Highlander for just under a year now, and we love it. We traded in our 2013 Corolla when we had our first child and we needed something with much more space for all the new things we had to tote around for baby. We researched 4 different brands of cars; Chevrolet, Jeep, Toyota and Ford. The Chevy and Jeep had poor reviews ranging from the Chevy Traverse catching on fire 2 days after having it and the Jeep Grand Cherokee having issues with also catching on fire and having an issue with its parking brake not holding and rolling away. It came down to the Ford Explorer and Toyota Highlander or 4-Runner. The Ford was slightly less money but after I read the reviews on the Toyota (and being a previous Toyota owner and loved my old car) my husband and I agreed upon one of the Toyotas. There was even a review from a mom who said that she was t-boned by a drunk driver in her Highlander and the vehicle rolled, she and her two children survived and the drunk driver did not. Sealed my thoughts on what I wanted, but we test drove each one anyway. The 4-Runner drove nicely and was spacious, but it felt extremely bulky and top heavy to me. Probably more well suited for someone who wanted to take it off-roading or out in the mountains rather than drive their kids to school and do family things. Next we drove the Highlander and my husband told me that he was very impressed with how sleek it actually looked in person. He said he was expecting something more of a soccer mom van/wagon style and this didnt strike him that way at all. We had our 10 month old son in the car and he instantly fell asleep on the drive in the highlander. The drive was smooth, the interior wasnt as roomy as the 4-Runner but it had a third row seat which we wanted, back up camera, and touch screen audio and blue tooth controls on the wheel. We took this car to San Diego to stay with my inlaws for a few days and my nephew, husband, son, mother in law, father in law and myself all fit in the car comfortably. When we go out of town to San Diego or somewhere around that distance, we only fuel up once for the trip (assuming its a few days and not a week or so). I drive this car to work every day, and around town, to the neighboring towns about once a week, and I only have to fuel up every other week or so. And now with baby #2 on the way, I have no doubts that this car will be able to continue safely holding all of my precious cargo without making us cramped for space.

  • 60 degree steep driveway Mountains of NC-ice-snow - 2016 Toyota Highlander
    By -

A great value, safe car. I live on the side of a Mountain. The grade going up my drive is probably 60 degree along with a few curves. The car has amazing down hill assist to negotiate down steep hills and of course my drive. AWD and 4 wheel drive additional feature: just tried in the snow on my steep drive and did not slip once. I would highly recommend this car. I had 2 VW Touaregs, but they were not as reliable on the roads I travel as the 2016 Toyota in snow, ice and mountain terrain. The things I do not like about the car: I am 54 and getting positioned in the car means I am constantly moving the seat back and forth. When it rains, the configuration of the door and windows does not shed water when door is initially opened, steering is so fine tuned you dont feel the roughness of the road consequently ---takes a little getting use to...finally... I would like a more realistic back up camera (not a fish eye camera )- positioned where the rain drops and snow do not sit on camera lens distorting the backup view. But as far as safety, I will deal with the insignificant to enjoy the significant safety features. I need Safety first. The 2016 Highlander is a great value for the money and the safety features sold me 100%. .. " NC Mountains"

  • Needed comfort and cargo space - 2016 Toyota Highlander

I needed enough cargo space for a wheelchair on occasion, and golf bags. The cargo space works perfectly. The air cooled seats are just right for Florida as is the zoned air. I cant say enough good things about this car. Great!

  • Love my new Highlaneder - 2016 Toyota Highlander

I just love my Highlander. Leased a 2105 XLE but after driving it for a few months I found that I longed for the Limited edition. I found that I prefer the captain chair seating along with all of the safety features that come with the Limited Platinum edition. Not only do I love the safety features, it is really awesome to have the panoramic sunroof. I live in Southern California where the weather is beautiful year round so I opted to not get the AWD version. My only complaints are the price of the vehicle. It is quite pricey but for the features you get it is a WHOLE lot cheaper than the equally equipped luxury vehicles, such as Audi Q7 or the Infinit Qx6 which are cars that I was originally considering. For the price point of this vehicle I also would prefer if the side view mirrors would automatically fold in without me having to fold them in manually. I love the entune system which works quite well with my LG V10 cellphone which I also LOVE! Being that I had the standard audio system on the 2015 Highlander XLE, I am able to speak to the quality of the JBL system I now have. I am strictly a Pandora and bluetooth user and I will say the sound quality is far superior to the system that comes standard on the XLE model. So, I can say that I like the JBL. But, then again, I am not a radio listener and my music has HD quality because of the cellphone that I have. I absolutely love my Highlander and since I am no longer leasing, I will be keeping 2016 Limited Platinum Highlander for many many years to come.

  • Waited 11 years - 2016 Toyota Highlander

I traded in my 2005 Honda CRV which I drove for 11 years and bought a Highlander XLE. I love this car! The ride and comfort are wonderful. I have the two separate seats in the second row which are comfortable and roomy. The technology is easy to set up and use. Love how the audio bluetooth works with my music downloads on my I-phone. Toyota has won me back with this quality vehicle. Great value. Just a pleasure to drive. I havent had it long enough to comment on reliability but I have high expectations for Toyota quality. I am 65years old and looking forward to driving my new Highlander in my retirement years.

  • HAPPY Highlander - 2016 Toyota Highlander

Study Consumer Reports testing of the several SUVS and do a test drive of at least 3 makes. I am sure you will find the Highlander stands out as the best in performance and comfort. I would highly recommend this vehicle to any one.

  • High on the Highlander - 2016 Toyota Highlander

This is a solid buy. Comfy, adequately powerful, good road manners. Steering is a little vague with too much assistance, but not numb like domestic competitors. This Limited model has virtually all the bells and whistles. Recommended without question.

  • Just bought a new 2016 Highlander - 2016 Toyota Highlander
    By -

We just bought a new 2016 Toyota Highlander Limited. The design and technology of the 2016 Highlander are dramatically improved from the 2011 Highlander we traded in. We love the new look and significant improvements included with the new technology package. I was also surprised at the great trade in price we received for 2011 Highlander.
