This Year's Model Updates:

Based on the same platform as the Lexus RX 300, Toyota's new Highlander SUV represents the best blend of a station wagon, a minivan and a sport utility available on the market today. Available only with a V6 and an automatic transmission driving power to the front or all the wheels, Highlander will be sold in one trim level with a Limited package listed on the option sheet.

Pros:
  • Roomy interior, car-like ride and handling, spunky V6 engine, predicted reliability.

Driving the Highlander feels like driving a car, not a hulking SUV. Just fun to drive!

Great SUV. Ride like a car. Smooth, powerful. Better my BMWs.

  • My 3rd Toyota - 2001 Toyota Highlander

Ive owned a Tercel and a Camry and both were great cars, but the Highlander is my favorite Toyota. I bought a 2001 in 2003 and have had no problems. LOVED it when I bought it and still love it 3 years later.

  • UPGRADE FROM RAV4 - 2001 Toyota Highlander
    By -

I WAS WAITING FOR A USED HIGHLANDER. I UPGRADED FROM A RAV4 WHICH WAS TOO SMALL. I HAD IT 5 YEARS AND WAS MY FIRST TOYOTA SO I WANTED ANOTHER AND LOVE HIGHLANDER STYLE. BEING USED IT DOES NOT HAVE ALL THE FEATURES I WOULD LIKE ,BUT I LOVE IT. IT BIG, ROOMY SMOOTH RIDING, GREAT ON GAS, LARGE CARGO AREA FOR HAULING AND HIG UP OFF THE GROUND. IT IS THE NICEST AND MOST FAVORITE CAR I EVER DROVE. THE DEALERSHIP IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST AND HAS GONE OVERBOARD TO MAKE EVERYTHING PERFECT. ITS A 2001 IN MINT CONDITION AND HAD 20,00 MILES ON IT. SO HAPPY WITH MY NEW BUGGY. THANK YOU

Have had many autos over 40 years now including prior Toyotas, Mercedes and Cadillacs. This is the best auto by far I have ever had. Freinds really take to the Highlander.

  • Leased It, Gonna Buy It - 2001 Toyota Highlander

Because my new job came with a company car, it made sense to sell my pickup. However, this left my family without a vehicle to haul pets, outdoor gear and any large items (couch, lawn mower, etc.). My wife, bless her heart, agreed to trade in her Lexus ES 300 for a Toyota Highlander. Five years later, she still loves her Highlander. The ride, the convenience for hauling people and things and especially the great sound system (the girl loves her country music). Rather than replace the it when the lease is up, were buying it. It runs so well and has needed only very minor repairs. This is a well designed vehicle built by Toyota. Enough said!

  • Great Car! - 2001 Toyota Highlander

I love this car! It rides like an Avalon. There is lots of back seat leg room.I drive in the snow a lot and it handles slick roads very well.I will definately lease a new one.
