This is really very well built car. Car not truck. Just took it to camping on rough road - very good for family treveling.

Test drove the Acura MDX, Honda Pilot, Ford Explorer, and Chevrolet Trailblazer I found the Highlander to be superior in most catagories (especially comfort). So glad to be rid of my Merc Mountaineer which was very crude by comparison. Its a shame the U.S. automakers are still lagging far behind most imports. We are all driving Japanese at our house with my wife driving an Acura RL.

  • Great for our needs for under $24,000 - 2002 Toyota Highlander

We needed more room for yearly trips to Florida. We knew we had to look into an SUV for more room. The compact SUVs were cheap, but just too small. The midsize SUVs were out of our price range, until we found the Highlander. After driving it we knew it was the vehicle for us. We purchased a base model 4 cyl with a few minor upgrades. Let me tell you, this is great vehicle. It has everything you need. The 4 cly 2 WD FWD is great on snow covered roads and the engine has plenty of power for normal driving with the benefit of 22- 27 mpg. If you dont go off road and your looking for a vehicle for more room and a low price this one cant be beat.

Great first SUV. If you want security of 4WD, but not the rough ride or truck like feel of most of the SUVs on the market, this is the vehicle to test drive. Both my wife & I are comfortable driving and riding in it. Not as much interior storage as some of the other SUVs, but nicely laid out and finished.

I have now had my 2002 Highlander Limited for 1 week and am absolutely impressed with the ride, build quality and performance of this car. Six months ago I traded our 99 Lexus RX300 for another car for my wife. The Highlander is our second car and I see many similarities between it and the RX300. This truely surpised me considering a new RX will cost around $40k and I paid invoice of $29k for my Highlander! I cannot say enough good things about the 2002 Highlander Limited!

Im recently retired at a fairly young age with a goal of trying to see most all areas of our wonderful country. I had the luxury of evaluating and personally test driving 27 vehicles I felt had potential to be the best. The Highlander was chosen. Son of a gun, turns out I made a perfect choice! Shes wonderful! Shes spectacularly satisfying. A quality and truly reliable trooper, as well proven after many miles of often very challenging driving conditions.

We Test drove all the Mid-Size SUVs and drove the Highlander last because the Toyota dealer never had any in stock. As soon as I closed the door for the test drive, I knew this was the one. This car/suv is so well built! 4- cylinder is enough if you dont tow.

I got my Highlander about 7 months ago and would not trade it for the world. We had tyr all the different types of suv and was not happy with one thing or another. We tested the Highlander back in December of 2001. we went back in May of 2002 and got one. This suv is one of the best.We got he the v6 2wd and agree that is one of the best v6 we have tested.. Love the Highlander

We went to the Toyota dealership to test the legroom in the Tundra. Not only did my son not fit in the backseat, I did not fit well in the front seat. Well, long story short, we started to leave when my wife saw the Highlander at a price we liked. It turned out to be one of those "one and only" that dealers advertise, then sell the day before the ad comes out. Only -5- weeks old, but it has been a great vehicle. Quiet, roomy, and so far very economical. Was initially hesitant on the 4cyl but really have no complaints. Hard to call it an SUV, I think of it more as a tall station wagon.
