  • I love my Highlander - 2002 Toyota Highlander

This is my car for transition to retirement. I was a financial advisor and always drove cars that were less than 3 years old. This one was for work and retirement. It is now five years old and I am going for ten. It is maintenance free. I carry kayaks on the top, paddles inside, use it to take stuff to the dump, and use it to take my wife to nice functions. In fact, I am using it to drive a candidate for Comptroller of the whole state of CT. I love this car.

What else would you expect from Toyota? The Highlander has the legendary quality and performance in a package that also has the SUV look without having to pay the price in ride or economy.

The HL has pretty well met my expectations; it has a clean classic styling, a powerful smooth V6, great handling/breaking and no noticeable body roll, almost car like ride. The interior is comfortable with high seating positions and good visibility. There is plenty of storage throughout the vehicle with easily foldable rear seats with good cargo space in return. Overall the term CSU (Crossover Sport Utility) applies more to the Highlander than SUV, which is fine by me.

  • A winner from Toyota - 2002 Toyota Highlander

My wife and I were not happy with the downsized SUV offerings.... until (drum roll please) we decided to "upscale" a tad and try out the Highlander. Comfort and ride are in a whole different class than the aforementioned minis and with our 2wd v6 drive base model equipped with fender flares, rear spoiler, bug deflector, roof rack, four-wheel discs, reese hitch/wiring, privacy glass, 8-way power seat, keyless entry, Steller alloy wheels, and a few other goodies - well - this baby was a like a glove fit for us. (Ive added McNeil WeatherFlectors and taillight covers to "butch-up" the all white Highlander....so far).

Rides very well.. handles like a car. Have no problem carrying very large stuff in the back without having to put it up on the roof. No complaints.

  • Some Bugs - But Good - 2002 Toyota Highlander

The check engine light kept coming on (Which does not mean much in current automobiles). After three trips to the dealer they finally changed out the entire computer mother board and fixed the problem. Other than that it is an excellent car with great looks and lots of power. After test driving the Highlander all the other SUVs seemed to drive like U-Haul trucks. Definitely get the color coded fender wells, chrome tube step rails, and spoiler, or the truck will look like a minivan.

Having worn-out our second Blazer we hit the lots looking for another SUV. Tried the new GM products...Envoy, Trailblazer, Tahoe...but one drive in the Highlander and we were hooked. The Camry base is evident over the other SUV offerings, with a car like drive and handle...smooth, comfy and hugs the road. We do not tow but appreciate the peppy V6, traction system and mpg...a quality buy!

  • An 02... 60K+... & still bulletproof. - 2002 Toyota Highlander

Replacing our 95 4Runner (purchased new) was our 02 Highlander (purchased new - 3.0l V6 4x2). Occupants appreciate the comfortable and plush interior. The Camry-based ride is tight and refined. The original 16" Goodyears were just replaced @ 60K (with same). Absolutely NO mechanical problems to date. An extremely sure-footed vehicle (further enhanced with VSC) in foul weather. Much easier to park/maneuver than a larger SUV. I would describe the exterior styling as modestly elegant. We experience 23 mpg in mixed driving, approaching 30 mpg hwy. Overall, an excellent value.

We have owned our Highlander for just over a month. We can honestly say this is the best vehicle we have ever owned. We absolutely love to drive it. It is absolutely a gorgeous looking SUV. Love the comfort and ride and handling. It has wonderful get up and go and great visibilty. My husband is tall and he loves the leg room. We havent found one single thing wrong with this vehicle - even our gas mileage has been good considering we drive up and down hills all day - 20.5 on first tank - havent taken it on a real trip yet. Also, Magnussens Toyota is wonderful dealershp to deal with.

  • Best car/SUV I have owned - 2002 Toyota Highlander

My wife and I absolutely love our Highlander. It is the best vehicle that we have owned. It is peppy, fun to drive and has the feel of a car not a truck. I also own a Honda Accord and the handling and feel of the Highlander seems the same. It is an excellent cross-over vehicle. I highly recommend it!
