This Year's Model Updates:

Two new audio systems are available and both include three-in-one ETR/cassette/CD features. Also available are daytime running lights with auto-off. Vintage Red Pearl, Sable Pearl and Woodland Pearl replace Sunfire Red Pearl, Ruby Red and Classic Green Pearl.

Pros:
  • When it comes to people moving, the Camry gets the job done with dependability.
Cons:
  • The suspension is a bit wallowy for our tastes and the new Accord offers more interior space.

I had previously owned a 91 Camry, so I convinced my wife, and dedicated American car company customer, to drive a 99 when she needed another car. She was hooked in about 30 seconds. We spent an afternoon driving 99 Camrys, and she wouldnt even consider another car after that. We had driven such cars as the Saturn L series and Pontiac GrandAm. She was set on one of them, but after driving the Camry, they werent even a consideration! We even drove the Nissan Maxima and the Honda Accord, and she strongly preferred the Camry.

we bought a 1999 used toyota camry in 2000. this was the best car we have ever had. the fuel economy is excellent. the comfort is incredible. the reliability is phenomenal. i would recommend a toyota vehicle to anyone. we only buy honda or toyota as a rule of thumb, but if its just up to me, i would buy toyota exclusively.

After all the hype about this car and that, all cars smell, drive, look, and act similarly after a few years. That being said, I can tell you without reservation, this has been one fine car. I now have 61,000 miles on this car. I drive it daily in Atlanta traffic. This car has and continues to deliver everything you come to expect in a Toyota. I have only replaced the Front Brakes. I cant seem to wear the rears out, replaced the tires, and use synthetic oil with every oil change. Score? Perfect. It has never broken down. It has a better AC than Honda and is roomier. It wont turn heads but you wont call for a tow either. Next time, buy a 4-cyl Camry. Its my 2nd.

I bought this road marvel as a replacement for a 2005 Kia Spectra EX, that had a host of problems on it. I have loved this car ever since I bought it. It gives me great gas mileage & the engine runs so smooth and quiet that you cannot even hear it when stopped for traffic. It had a smooth-drive suspension system before they got all worn out. Today, there is a problem with my tyres that gives me less than 30 mpg overall. I used to get an average of 33 mpg (combined mileage) but these days even 25 mpg is a miracle! I was advised that there is something wrong with my tyres, alignment, balancing or something like that and once I get it fixed, its gonna b okay!

This is trully the best car on the market. I bought a used one with 40k miles and drive it for 2 years now. Not a single problem with it. This car is so reliable that you dont have to do anything just get some gas and change oil regularly. THATs it. It is very quiet and sometimes I am not sure if the engine is on or not. It is pretty fast too. I test this car to its limits and it never fails me. It can compete with many sports cars and will lose just a lit bit. I raced a Lincoln MarkVIII which was ahead of me about one body length at 80 mph. In other words its pretty fast. The driving experience is excellent. Its like riding a dream. There are no compromises.

  • Awesome Car - 1999 Toyota Camry

I absolutely love this car! I waited a year before I decided to post a review, because I wanted to be sure my opinion was reliable. For one, this car has never given me ANY problems except for having to get a new battery about a month after I purchased it...which was mostly the dealerships fault for having an old recharged one in the car. The only thing Ive replaced is the tires...never stalls, idles and drives smoother than my mothers 2005 Saturn ....I love this car and when I am ready to trade it in, it will definitely be for another Camry!

  • Bland, and almost great - 1999 Toyota Camry

Had it since new. Style, compared to the new camry or older Accords is too plain. Engine/Trans doing fine at 87000, but Struts have been making strange noises since 25K, and brakes are always squeaking. Interior plastic is warping, but cloth is fine.

  • My favorite car of all time - 1999 Toyota Camry

Over engineered and over built. replaced engine and transmission after 230k not due to any failure but for peace of mind. This was mu dream car back when I was in high school and it first came out. I would rebuild it like new if I can find the right parts. Still running strong and reliable at 273k. A real champ.

  • I am the original owner - 1999 Toyota Camry

I bought my 1999 Camry V6 manual transmission brand new and enjoyed very much the car. Good performance, reliability, and gas miles. Last year, I changed the clutch. With 102K original miles, I am doing minor body work, new alloy rims, replacing wood trim in dashboard and installing a trunk spoiler. I am planning to keep my car unless someone gives me an offer that I cant refuse.

I bought this 100% brand new. Had just came off the delivery truck the day before. With 60,000 miles on it today I still believe its showroom new as it was on 2-16-1999. I drive it on long trips because of its comfort. Thats only time I do drive it.
