This Year's Model Updates:

Two new audio systems are available and both include three-in-one ETR/cassette/CD features. Also available are daytime running lights with auto-off. Vintage Red Pearl, Sable Pearl and Woodland Pearl replace Sunfire Red Pearl, Ruby Red and Classic Green Pearl.

Pros:
  • When it comes to people moving, the Camry gets the job done with dependability.
Cons:
  • The suspension is a bit wallowy for our tastes and the new Accord offers more interior space.

  • Great Car - 1999 Toyota Camry

I bought this car new and have put 190,000 trouble free miles on it. It does not even burn any oil between changes. I have done just the routine maintenance and replaced wear and tear items as needed. A few signs of age have cropped up lately, notably bad valve stem seals and front upper strut plates, but who can complain after nearly 200,000 miles? Get that kind of service from an American car? Doubt it.

This car runs better now than when it had 20,000 miles. It held its value and I am always being asked if I want to sell it and I cant let it go yet anyway. Great bang for the buck especially in this economy. Buy one youll love it; this 4 cylinder blows away many American 4 and 6 cyl of the same year. You wont regret it.

Gave to our son 2 years ago for College use. Gave another 1999 Camry XLE car to our daughter. Both have very low maintenance, 28 Hwy mpg, 24 city 4-cyl. Very reliable. Only issue with both cars is the low exhaust pipe clearance over the bumps. Suspension system had to be changed in about 2006.

I have 197,000 and it is still going strong. I had to have the EGR valve replaced and other than that, it has been great.

This can be a fun car to drive if you get the V6 in a 5-speed. Has plently of power and gets the job done. Ive put almost 60k milies on the car since 1999 and its 2003 now and no problems at all.

Solid car, good transportation, reliable, great gas mileage, no mechanical problems, changed the oil regularly, third set of tires, will drive it til it falls apart.

  • Had 2 1999 Manual V6 Camrys. - 1999 Toyota Camry

Bought one with 170k, sold it with 199k, bought another with 192k, sold it with 219k miles. THESE HAVE A HORRIBLE RESALE VALUE, I did not make any money on either of them, probably because not many people want a camry that is manual. But it has great power, 0-60 was 7.4 seconds for me on my first one, my second one was a bit slower because it felt beat on. Topped out the first one at 131 mph but blew a whole in the exhaust doing that lol. Both of mine had 1 common problem, the rear sway bar link bushing go bad and make a horrible clunking sound. Was impossible to change them because the bolts get rusted up and break if you touch them.

  • Great car for the money. - 1999 Toyota Camry

I bought this car used in October 04. 92000 miles on it. I paid $8250 for it and I think I got ripped off. I guess overall its been a decent car, but dont listen to all those reviews about Toyotas reliability. Every car has its faults. Two days after I bought the car the check engine light came on; I took it to three mechanics, none could figure out the problem. After 10000 miles its still on and off. Ive had the starter go bad, the motor knocks like crazy at times, and I have various other electrical problems. The front struts make popping sounds, but theyre factory and Ive yet to change them. However I believe these faults are due to a previous owners ignorance.

  • Best used car Ive ever owned. - 1999 Toyota Camry

Great commuter car. I owned the car for four years and really took it through the paces and it never gave me any problems at all. Its not a Porsche but its dependable and the mileage is decent.

  • Odd Problem on A Reliable Name - 1999 Toyota Camry

I bought my Camry about 6 years ago and I love it but I have always had a problem with the CD Player. When I would brake, the CD that would be currently playing would skip until I fully stopped. Just this year my check engine light came on and went off and did that for a few months. I thought it was an electrical problem because the car drove fine and I was linking it to my CD player. The electrical tests checked out fine so I then needed to go get the oil changed. It turned out that my engine oil gelled all in my engine. I was also told there is nothing that can stop this problem and it can happen again in another few
