This Year's Model Updates:

Two new audio systems are available and both include three-in-one ETR/cassette/CD features. Also available are daytime running lights with auto-off. Vintage Red Pearl, Sable Pearl and Woodland Pearl replace Sunfire Red Pearl, Ruby Red and Classic Green Pearl.

Pros:
  • When it comes to people moving, the Camry gets the job done with dependability.
Cons:
  • The suspension is a bit wallowy for our tastes and the new Accord offers more interior space.

  • Best car ever - 1999 Toyota Camry

We got it as a used rental car in late 1999 and have driven it to death ever since. It now has almost 150000 miles and weve never had a big problem. We change oil regularly. Only repairs were the right window motor and we did all the belts etc. My husband drives it daily around 50-60 miles. We will drive it til it drops.

  • 1999 Toyotat Camry, Great Car! - 1999 Toyota Camry

I have owned the car since it was new in 1998. It has been the most dependable car that I have ever owned. It has never broken down and left me stranded, ever. I make sure the car receives its regular maintenance and replace the belts and tires as needed. The ergonomics of the interior are great with all controls easy to reach. With the V6, I can still manage to get 30 MPG on the highway. All around a great car.

  • Boring but good - 1999 Toyota Camry

The camry has been a good car--once we got rid of those General tires that slid into corners and replaced them with some Yokohama Aegis touring tires. My main complaint is the low gas mileage (average around 24) and the paint job. The paint is coming off the front grill and the front bumper. It is flaking off all over the place. Not the quality I expected from Toyota. Mechanically I havent had many problems. The wiper motors seem to have gotten messed up by an ice storm though.

Its a reliable car. Not the flashiest, fastest, or most comfortable. I drive it HARD and I the only thing Ive had to replace in 70,000 miles is the brake pads (twice). I followed the maintenance schedule and have had no problems.

Here is what Ive replaced during my 6 years of ownership: 1.) Circuit board regulating the airflow and AC 2.) Entire Driver window motor assembly (from a Toyota Dealership). 3.) Rust on side of door 4.) Power door locks does not function from time to time. Ive owned over 12+ cars in my lifespan, and this is the 1st car that Ive found myself facing with these items that should have lasted a lot longer.

  • Awesome car - 1999 Toyota Camry

I have driven many cars from BMW to Mercedes but this is the only car that ran flawlessly even though it was much older than BMW 3 2.8 and Mercedes E320. It is fun to drive, comfortable and gets great gas mileage while being immaculately reliable no wonder Toyota will become the largest car manufacturer in the world in few years. The Detroit boys have a lot of work to do. Recommend to anyone.

  • A little Disappointed - 1999 Toyota Camry

This is my 2nd Camry. I got almost 300K on my previous model before I had any major problems at all. The transmission had trouble. Unfortunately this one is not fairing as well. The vehicle is well maintained and serviced, but at 188,000 Ive had to replace transmission seals, gaskets, and there is an engine oil leak the continues to come back and now the power steering rack is leaking. Its starting to get very sluggish, too. I would still purchase another Camry, but this one has been disappointing.

if you dont have enough money to buy a lexus es300, dont worry just buy this camry and it will do the same job for a lot less cash.

This is an OK car for its value. The engine isnt that powerful. I havent had any major problems with my car so far. The handeling is good. The acceleration is ok, but when there are 4 people on board you can feel that the car is "working very hard" to run. The braking doesnt feel so well. The OE tires suck. The front bumber is too close to the ground; I always hit the curve when I park. The suspention is too soft. The interior is simple and cheap. The back seats are comfortable. The engine bay is ugly.
