This Year's Model Updates:

In an effort to make Camry ownership more affordable, Toyota adds an entry-level Standard model to the lineup this year. All 2005 Toyota Camry models receive freshened exterior styling with a new grille, headlamps, taillamps and wheel designs. All Camrys now have antilock brakes as standard equipment, and the optional automatic transmission for all models is now a five-speed unit. Inside, all Camrys feature Optitron gauges, steering wheel audio controls, a rear center headrest and upgraded seat fabrics. The XLE V6 now includes standard leather seating.

Pros:
  • Roomy, comfortable, quiet, plenty of safety and luxury features, high resale value, strong reputation for reliability.

I bought this used with 77,000 miles on it. The previous owners too good care of it. The fabric was nice and like new. Someone eventually ran into me at 101,000 and totaled it. It was good on gas, very comfortable and had power seats which I liked. The stereo sounded good when dialed up loud. The car looked nice except for the back looked outdated. I did a few minor repairs plus some major ones. There is a long bar in the front by the engine forget what they call it. It was going to cost me 1,200 to have fixed, I found someone for 700. It had some dry rot. Then around 100,000, the struts were going bad and that would have been 800. The owners had EuroTour Big O tires that were great and lasted a long time. Overall, an acceptable car. Too bad it was totaled.

  • Like, but not Love, my XLE - 2005 Toyota Camry

Very quiet, comfortable car. Toyotas auto-climate system is the best. It always knows exactly what to do. Very reliable, never had any problems with it. I dont especially love the cars handling because my former car was a Passat, but the Camry is an excellent car overall. The front end seems a little heavy for a 4cyl, which makes it lean more than it should in curves/corners. It does a good job of reminding me its not a sports sedan. The seats are extremely comfortable for long trips. Get a spoiler..it really dresses the car up.

I love the new color that was added this year (2005) for the Camry. I had a 2004 which I traded in as soon as I saw the new Sky Blue Pearl. It is nice. Its a XLE V6. Smooth ride.

The updated exterior styling for 2005 improved the looks of the car dramatically. It looks and drives like a luxury car, but without the "float." Interior attention to detail is remarkable, and the new white backlit gages are classy. An unbelieveable price tag for all of the amenities!

Purchased our Camry about 9 months ago, and havent looked back since. This is our first toyota and certanly wont be our last. Since owner ship weve put 50000kms on the car and it hasent given us 10 minutes trouble. The car rides beautifully and has no problem crusing at 90mph all day. The trunk is roomy, back seat has huge amounts of leg room. The city mileage is not as great as we expected, but highway mileage far exceded the manufacturers #s. The power of the 4cyl is right on par with other manufacturers. I would highly recomend this vechicle to anybody that wants a reliable, comfortable and roomy family sedan.

Great car... I have put mostly highway miles on mine and am still on the original brakes after almost 5 years and 63000 miles. My only gripe is the paint/finish. I opted for a dealer- applied 5-yr super simonize wax and even with that, I still have deep chips and scratches. From driving on the hwy, I wouldve expected minor scratches on the hood from rocks, but these are like gouges. Other than that, this car has been amazing. Ill definitely purchase another Toyota as soon as I get 200000-250000 miles on this one.
