This Year's Model Updates:

Two new audio systems are available and both include three-in-one ETR/cassette/CD features. Also available are daytime running lights with auto-off. Vintage Red Pearl, Sable Pearl and Woodland Pearl replace Sunfire Red Pearl, Ruby Red and Classic Green Pearl.

Pros:
  • When it comes to people moving, the Camry gets the job done with dependability.
Cons:
  • The suspension is a bit wallowy for our tastes and the new Accord offers more interior space.

  • Pretty good! - 1999 Toyota Camry

The breakes squeak and the pick-up is not fantastic. All the cars around me a speeding passed.... But those are the only things that bothers me. Other than that, it is a super smooth ride, tremendous amount of space for things in the trunk, great sound, comfortable seats, and all together a fun ride!!!

  • Great except for Brakes and seats - 1999 Toyota Camry

Im a Realtor and drive constantly. Between 25-30K a year. Love the car except Ive had to replace the brakes about every 10,000 miles. Ive talked with 3 brake stores and all say that is a problem on this year and model. Something to do with the brake caliper not releasing all the way and constantly rubbing. I just take it back every few months for my new pads (under lifetime warranty) new calipers to fix it are around $1,000. Seats for sure and uncomfortable. Terrible adjustments. Other than the brakes I run this car in the ground and it just keeps going.

  • Typical Toyota - 1999 Toyota Camry

Typical Toyota- not incredibly exciting, but well built and cheap to maintain. This is our 2nd Toyota and we plan on a 3rd (lease ending soon). I cant imagine buying another American make after the terrific experience weve had with this Toyota.

  • Disappointed - 1999 Toyota Camry

We purchased this Camry new believing it would be a great car for many years. The last two cars we owned, we have for about 10 years each. Beginning within a few months of ownership we have had the following problems: front and rear struts replaced twice, transmission replaced, transmission speed sensor replaced twice, air sensor replaced along with MANY other irritating minor things. Toyota is OFF our list for future purchases! And yes - we have followed the suggested maintenance schedule!

  • Awesome car! - 1999 Toyota Camry

I absolutely love my Camry. It is very reliable and comfortable. I bought it used with 70k on it and its been going with no problems since. I now have 175k with zero problems.

  • Reliable - 1999 Toyota Camry

I have had my Camry for 5 years now and I just brought it to a mechanic for the first time at 81,000 miles. That was only for brake pads and tires (which until now had not been changed since I bought the car with only 30 miles on it). I love this car and I feel very safe driving my daughter around in it since it has steel doors. This is my first Toyota and I will never buy anything but Toyota from now on. I love it. I know it is not the fastest car around but it is very reliable. The only complaint I have is seeing everyone has one, it is hard to find my car in a parking lot.

  • Great Car - 1999 Toyota Camry

Purchased this car less than a year ago with 120,000 mi. on it. It now has 131,000 mi. It was well maintained by previous owner and it shows. Car rides and feels smooth and tight if you didnt look at the odometer you would think it had half the miles it actually does. Absolutely no problems so far . Gas mileage is just okay...low 20s in commuting traffic and very high 20s on the highway. It rides very smooth and quiet at highway speeds and is very comfy. Acceleration is not bad for a 2.2 L 4 cyl , enough for normal driving situations. It uses less than a quart of oil every 3,000 mi. Overall I am impressed with this car and would recommend it to others.

  • Outstanding Quality, Comfort and Value - 1999 Toyota Camry
    By -

Our 1999 Camry V6 is the best car value we have ever owned, hands down. Fully loaded, it compares closer to the Lexus than, say, the Taurus. The ride is so smooth and the interior layout is so smart. You will not find better comfort, quality and value in a car than the Camry. Our Camry was made in Kentucky. We are very pleased! It is no secret that Consumer Reports has been enthusistically endorsing the Camry for many years. Just go look at CRs quality ratings based on thousands of cars surveyed.

  • Floor it everyday since 1999 and it still runs - 1999 Toyota Camry
    By -

It just keeps running and I abuse the car daily. I always floor it and it just holds together. 3.0 liter 6 has decent power and great mph. Decent in snow with good tires. I keep telling myself Ill get a new car when this one dies but its still alive and fun to drive at least for me it is.
