Overview & Reviews
Two new audio systems are available and both include three-in-one ETR/cassette/CD features. Also available are daytime running lights with auto-off. Vintage Red Pearl, Sable Pearl and Woodland Pearl replace Sunfire Red Pearl, Ruby Red and Classic Green Pearl.
- When it comes to people moving, the Camry gets the job done with dependability.
- The suspension is a bit wallowy for our tastes and the new Accord offers more interior space.

80K mi with a Camry 5 sp 2.2L - 1999 Toyota Camry
By Ted - January 25 - 9:13 pmI just traded the Camry Ive had for 8 years on a Lexus and cried when I said goodbye to it. I averaged 29mpg in 50/50 city/hwy driving and hit 33mpg on flat hwy. Incredibly reliable. The body style w/ spoiler and alloys still looks fresh. Interior was roomy and well designed. Theres a lot to this major-model Camry has been cost-reduced out of the newer ones. If youre on a budget and need stylish, reliable, spacious transportation, find a well-maintained 98-02 Camry.

99 Camry - 1999 Toyota Camry
By Petreasa - November 11 - 10:00 amI owned a 1992 Camry prior to my 1999 Camry. I cant imagine ever owning anything other than a Toyota, probably a Camry. Toyotas are the most dependable, trouble-free cars I have ever owned.

Reliable but Not a Fun Car - 1999 Toyota Camry
By Steven - October 28 - 6:23 amToyota Camry, is by far one of the most reliable cars, with best performance that I have ever driven. It has never let me down. Unfortunately, it is also not very fun to drive. It is relatively bulky, no fancy designs. It is basically an excellent choice for a family car for a person who does not care about the quality of FUN of driving.

1999 - Original Owner and still going and going and going.... - 1999 Toyota Camry
By clongstreet - September 29 - 2:08 amThis is the second Camry I have had in 19 years. The first was a 1992 LE 4 cylinder (remember those?). Anyway, I liked it so much for work (outside sales) that I bought a new one in 1999. I have driven it ever since. It now has 140,700 miles on it with NO signs of giving up. I am in outside sales and believe me, I drive it. Despite it now has its slight dings and scratches the paint is still beautiful after all these years. It runs smoooooooth as can be thanks in part to using 5-30 Mobile 1 since day one...not a drop burns, not drip anywhere. Mechanically, this thing has run like a top for 12 years and counting. No major repairs.

1999 Camry endless problems - 1999 Toyota Camry
By Alex - September 14 - 7:06 pmI purchased this certified car in Dec. 2002. At the beginning it was good. After I had problems with leaking water pump, transmission problems and last huge problem it start lose engine oil. Dealer made some repairs, but it was getting worse and worse. Last time 2 months ago oil level was below lower mark after 1000 miles!!! Dealer hold car for a week, replaced rings, recondition the engine head, bearings etc. Now, after 250 miles it lose 30% of oil. So, I need to go to dealer again.

Great Car - 1999 Toyota Camry
By Bob Mcgraw - September 11 - 10:23 amBought new in 1999. I have replaced only parts that I expect to. Belts, hoses tires etc. It has never failed to start. Safe, secure and keeps its value. I liked it so much I bought a 2006 Camry last year.

not a drivers car - 1999 Toyota Camry
By chris - September 1 - 11:50 pmIf you like driving, as I do, this is not a car for you. No throttle response, no steering feel, terrible (soft) suspension. Makes me ask "Am I actually driving." I take corners at 40-50 mph, and still no thrill. This is a boring car. Only consider it if you absolutely hate driving or do not like cars at all. If you like driving, or think a car should be responsive and a little sporty, go for the Accord.
