Overview & Reviews
Two new audio systems are available and both include three-in-one ETR/cassette/CD features. Also available are daytime running lights with auto-off. Vintage Red Pearl, Sable Pearl and Woodland Pearl replace Sunfire Red Pearl, Ruby Red and Classic Green Pearl.
- When it comes to people moving, the Camry gets the job done with dependability.
- The suspension is a bit wallowy for our tastes and the new Accord offers more interior space.

Love My 1999 Camry LE!!! - 1999 Toyota Camry
By jx6s - April 7 - 8:53 amBuying my Toyota Camry was one of the best investments that I have ever made. I love the gas mileage that it gets. I get 28 mpg on the average driving it everyday to work. On the highway I get 32+. The sound system is awesome!! It has 102,000 on it now and it drives great with no problems. I am faithful with my maintenance schedule. The only thing that I have had to pay out for is a new set of tires and rear struts as the car would sometimes bottom out in the rear with 4 adults in it. It wasnt costly though and one brake light. The car is so quiet and drives smooth. I highly recommend it.

Love My Camry! - 1999 Toyota Camry
By Sue of California - March 26 - 9:06 amI bought this Camry in late 2002. It had only 15,000 miles, & leather seats & a power drivers seat. Nearly 4 years later, its my favorite car ever. Although my 16-year old daughter gets teased by her friends that its a "moms car", I repeat over & over: "Its reliable, gets 30 mpg, its easy & fun to drive & the (leather) seats are comfortable." Ive only done regular oil changes & put a new battery in it. It now has 64,650 miles & Ive put just 7,300 on it this the last year, but will drive it even more as I am a new "mystery shopper". Its my 2nd Camry & hasnt disappointed me once.

Tranny goes @ 80k? - 1999 Toyota Camry
By Pat32787 - March 26 - 2:00 amIm very mad and upset with toyota. this 99 has been seriously nothing but problems. my parents bought the car and didnt notice it was missing a rear seatbelt, the left door has to be slammed in order to close, the brakes go way too often, the suspension sux, and recently $4grand later the transmission went at 81k miles. we had a 98 with no problems and we get a 99 and its a hunk of junk.

Superior Reliability - 1999 Toyota Camry
By Stacey L - March 22 - 10:00 amHas been the most reliable car ever had - formerly Ford, Saturn, Chrysler. It was a RENTAL car before we bought it and weve not had anything every go wrong. Now it has over 70k miles. Only oil changes, tires, maintenance needed. We are happy toyota converts, especially when compared to the engine failings weve had with other makes.

Will it make it to 300K - 1999 Toyota Camry
By chambers - February 2 - 8:13 pmPurchsed from a friend in 2002 with 90k miles on it. I just turned 222k. 2 timing belts, 1 water pump (easy change when doing timing belt so did it just to be safe), 1 tune up, new struts, few sets of brakes and tires, that is it. I cant kill this Camry no matter how hard I try. Is it boaring, yes. Is it slow, yes. Is it the most reliable car I have ever owned...hands down. IF you are looking for a car for your teenaged kids, look no farther. As much as I would like to move on, I am determined to drive the Camry until something major goes wrong with it. My luck I will be writting another update in 2 years when I have 270k on it. GM, take notes, this is how a car should be built!!!

My experience: it is a junk car - 1999 Toyota Camry
By Jason - November 28 - 8:13 pmI bought Toyota Camry in 1999. It ran ok in the first 5 years. Then I had to fix it at least twice a year (not including service or oil change). In average I spent $1500 on repair each year. I only drove 11000 miles and have changed most of stuff in the car already. Finally, I decided to sell this car. I really should have sold it earlier. I will never buy from Toyota anymore.

Decent Car!!!! - 1999 Toyota Camry
By marvito - November 5 - 2:00 amHey, I have a camry and its weird because not many people my age have these kinds of cars. I dont know why but I think these camrys are terrific. The only thing is that the damn insurance will cost more than the entire car...... thats sucks.

XLE V6 - 1999 Toyota Camry
By Vincy - October 11 - 10:00 amBought the car new and mine came from Japan. I change the oil regularly. Any problems have been electrical problems. The engine runs great til now. I may have to repair or replace the catalytic converter or its sensors. I thought about getting a new car but since this runs so well, what else would I buy?
