The 2014 Toyota 4Runner has revised exterior styling, new headlights and a revamped interior. A touchscreen-based audio system and Toyota's Entune suite of smartphone-connected apps are standard for all trim levels, as is a rearview camera. There are also minor changes in standard equipment.

Pros:
  • Outstanding off-road capability
  • Strong V6 engine
  • Ample cargo capacity.
Cons:
  • Poor fuel-economy
  • Lack of V8 or diesel engine option limits towing capacity
  • Cumbersome setup process for Entune system.
  • Cramped third-row seat
  • Busy ride

  • Great 4Runner - 2014 Toyota 4Runner

I purchased a new 2014 4Runner SR5 Premium because of the reduced interest rates for this model. I previously had a 2006 4Runner Limited and a 2000 Limited, which I was pleased with. I chose the SR5 Premium because it had everything except fancy wheels and the leather seats and I felt the Limited would not hold up well on my ranch with its smaller tires/larger wheels. The engine is efficient and the vehicle has more ground clearance than the 2006 4x4 Limited I had.

Attention to detail inside and out. The KDSS is awesome and the thing drives like a sedan. The trail edition is packed with every off road gadget youll ever need for camping trips to the desert or mountains. Love the aggressive styling. I smile every time I drive it.

  • The last of a dying breed - 2014 Toyota 4Runner

We have had our 4 Runner for about a month now and it has been nothing less than spectacular! When we began our search for an SUV we did not want the new trend of the crossover SUV. IMHO a crossover is nothing but a station wagon and most car companies are switching to that trend. Luckily Toyota has stuck to tradition with the 4 Runner by keeping it a true SUV in every sense. The 4 Runner is a true body on truck frame masterpiece that is very fun and easy to drive on the road and is at home when the pavement ends. It has a strong 4.0 V6 at 270 horsepower and 278 pound foot of torque. It will tow up to 4700 pounds which is enough for and ultra lite travel trailer, boat and other various toys.

  • Best REAL SUV out there - 2014 Toyota 4Runner

Bought the 4 Runner LTD 4x4 after considering the Jeep Grand Cherokee. Read so many many bad things about the jeep I got scared and decided not to purchase it. The Runner is the BEST. Reliable, rugged, 2 year service, excellent off round/snow and very good on highway. The only thing I can say is "oh what a feeling". I love the interior with the black leather. I went to a wedding with it and everyone raved about the SUV.

  • Top Quality do everything SUV - 2014 Toyota 4Runner

Purchased a new 2014 4Runner and absolutely love it. Toyota did a fantastic job with the interior upgrades on the 2014 Limited. Exterior still has that bold yet classy look. Super comfortable interior, seats are the best Ive sat in and ventalation/heat in them is great. 2nd row space is generous and storage area in the back is much larger than our old 4Runner. Power is adequate, however a 6th gear would be nice. Other than that love everything about this vehicle. Highly recommend.

Bought my 2014 4Runner SR5 Preimium recently to replace my 97 4Runner (upgrade purchase). Really have enjoyed the new car. We considered the 2016 but found little to no difference in features and driving from the 2014. My car obviously was used but was still under warranty (30k miles). The radio and clock had to be replaced entirely- voice control was poor, and some non functioning buttons on radio, and the clock lagged a bit. But it was under warranty so was free for us. Overall, we have really enjoyed owning it and love the features like steering wheel buttons, heated seats, 8 settings on driver seat, roomy, sunroof, back window slides down, 3rd row seat, 2nd row reclines and sides fwd or bckwd, plug outlet in very back, and more!

  • So far, so good - 2014 Toyota 4Runner

So Ive had the 4runner for about a month and logged about 400 miles so far. I bought it because I believe something that looks like an SUV should be off road capable and ready for anything. First impressions are as follows ... - Very comfortable ride for a body on frame architecture. - Engine seems capable enough - Beautiful exterior design (in my opinion) - The sound system (and Entune) could be better. - Gas mileage could be better. Im looking forward to a chance to test it out off road as soon as possible.

  • Best vehicle Ive ever owned - 2014 Toyota 4Runner
    By -

I bought this as my main vehicle and as a backup to our tundra for towing a camper or boat. We camp in the mountains of Wyoming and we were thrilled at how well it towed the camper, and accommodated 2 adults, 2 teenagers and a dog. Handled amazing on the mountain back roads. Great handling in deep snow too. Other than tires, air filters and oil changes Ive had no maintenance issues. ...still has original brakes at 103000 miles. Lots of room in cargo area.....if youre a multiple dog owner its great. Best vehicle Ive ever owned, both stylish and utilitarian.
