My grandma bought me a 1994 Toyota 4 runner about a year ago for my first car it had 202,000 miles on it now it has 211,000 miles on it and runs amazing but sucks very bad in the hills or up any hill unless your like off-roading and your going up a hill slowly in 4x4.. The brakes do suck i need to have my rooters turned. Had problems with rear window switch. The two back passenger window motors are almost done working i think they go pretty slow up after you put them down all the way.. Leaks oil but with those kind of miles its expected. Oh and how its bad in the hills is that when your going say, 65 mph and you start going up a little or a big incline you will loose speed very quickly and

Ive had my 4Runner for 8 years and have loved every minute of it. Im in the process of deciding whether or not to sell it (only 115,000 miles). Its in great shape and has been great for our family.

Toyota build quality is outstanding. I compare it to my fathers Grand Cherokee. He is happy with his annual maintenance costs of about $2000. I have not had any problems. The only maintenance I had to do was preventative...ie. a timing belt at 100k. Lets see...$500 preventative maintenance vs. my fathers $6000. Easy choice! Never let me down! I just bought another one. Now I have had all 3 generaations!

This is my 4th Toyota and for the most part, Ive been pleased. Unfortunately though, at 100K, it is looking like I may have to replace the transmission. It is popping out of 3rd and wont go into 4th. Im dissappointed in the quality of this particular Toyota although Im the second owner. The rear window defrost has stopped working. Other than that, I love my 4runner, its gotten me up the hill to snowboard, hauls all the camping gear, the kayak, the house stuff, the friends. Its been my dream car for quite awhile.

Reliable vehicle. 151,000 miles and still in very good condition.

  • Reliable and Rugged 4WD - 1994 Toyota 4Runner

A very reliable and rugged 4WD truck. Great for crawling over rocks, fording water, and punching through 3 snow-drifts. Not so much fun on the freeway. This 4runner is definitely still a truck. No mechanical or electrical problems with the vehicle at all. I average 18mpg highway/city. Not bad mpg for a truck of its capabilities. This truck is very fun to drive off the pavement, and is very stable over ruff roads. On the freeway the weak engine and top-heavy weight distribution make it a little scary.

Ive ALWAYS wanted a 4runner. I recently found one with EVERY OPTION I wanted, and in my fav. available color. The truck looks fantastic, has impeccable road manners, and a stellar 4wd system. Space is adequate, and the interior is simple and comfortable. My only gripes; poor fuel economy coupled with a spirited but underpowered engine. What gives?

No complaints for reliability and worth the money.

  • Never Again - 1994 Toyota 4Runner

Dont buy one. Engine went and so did everything else on the vehicle. Very uncomfortable to ride. No acceleration. My worst buy ever.
