Toyota keeps doing it right!!!!! - 2003 Toyota 4Runner
By fluke817 - July 14 - 2:00 amA vast improvement over older model(had a 1999model). Great p/u w/8 cyl engine. Excellent steering, braking, creature comforts outstanding.Ride could be a little bit softer/more refined. A competent vehicle both on/off road.Blind spot on both right and rear side could be easily eliminated w/ a larger 3rd window. As a salesman, doing 20k miles + a year, ts a great way to go.Fuel mileage, combined city & highway appx 14.5-15.0 miles per gallon w/the eight cylinder, and a heavy foot. A true Toyota Winner!!!!!!!

Finally ! - 2003 Toyota 4Runner
By majv93 - July 9 - 2:00 amI finally found a dealership that would deal on it! Ordered the V-6 Sport and was very happy with the stability, power handling and creature comforts. Very impressed with the ruggedness and the engine design allows VERY EASY ROUTINE MAINTENANCE! I am still racking up the miles on my 86 4x4 (211,800) and goin strong! If it is half the vehicle my 86 is (in quality) then it will be well worth the money!

33,000 Miles and no problems - 2003 Toyota 4Runner
By GrapeApe - July 6 - 11:00 pmPurchased vehicle used with 22,000 miles, now has 33,000. So far we havent had to make a single trip to a dealer. For its size, it drives great and has fairly quick acceleration. The ride quality is quite good, although not "car-like" as in the Highlander. Although we dont have the X-REAS suspension, body roll is minimal under moderate cornering. Gas mileage has been surprisingly good at about 19-20 mpg for mixed driving. Interior quality is excellent, and the Granite trim on the Limited is a nice departure from the fake wood trim that is in so many vehicles these days. The climate contols seem foreign at first, but become intuitive after a brief amout of time with the vehicle.

Best of the segment - 2003 Toyota 4Runner
By ffuser2001 - June 28 - 10:00 amHave owned the 2003 4Runner since last November, and have continually been impressed with it. The price was fair, its built closer the way a SUV is supposed to be built (solid frame, sold axle(s), ground clearance, low range, limited slip, etc), and it can tow a decent amount. Ive been off-road a few times, and it performs well. Ive towed a good number of times, usually about 3500 pounds, and it does so without complaint. Its a highly recommended vehicle on my list. It should be noted that we did experience a length list of early- production problems.

Great SUV, but ... - 2003 Toyota 4Runner
By emak - June 22 - 10:00 amI bought 4Runner because Toyotas reputation of quality and reliability. Its a great SUV, but the quality is not is not there. The car has rattles all over sunroof/headliner after only 2K miles. The sunroof also decreases already limited headroom space. I think, Toyota should take Hondas approach - DONT DO IT IF YOU CANNOT DO IT RIGHT and droop the sunroof option. Now after a couple of trips to the dealership I am thinking Id be better of with Explorer.

By Frank - May 10 - 4:30 amIn my experience I cannot say anything bad about this SUV. Very reliable, owned for close to 3 yrs. never had any problem what so ever. Good on snow. Performance wise I cannot complain it had enough power for me when passing or high speed highway driving.

What a great vehicle! - 2003 Toyota 4Runner
By Headshaker - May 8 - 10:00 amMy wife and I bought the v-8 primarily as her vehicle. Wow What a great car! Great in the snow, great all- wheel drive, great tow vehicle, and great kid hauler. My son finally talked my wife into selling it to him, so weve now bought a 2011 version. I hope it is as reliable, because we loved the 2003 model!

2nd 4-Runner - 2003 Toyota 4Runner
By Joseph W. - April 28 - 2:00 amThis vehicle handles great, has great comfort and the design is neat. It is very roomy and the interior is laid out comfortably. Great acceleration and handling for a SUV. Drives and rides like a luxury car. V-6 is plenty powerful and has reasonable gas mileage for a SUV.
