I bought my 03 4Runner 4X4 Sport edition in March (had it for 6 months now), and although I was a little leary about the price tag....I love this vehicle!!! Ive towed with it, traveled back and forth between PA and TN (several times) with it, gone offroad (by the way, offroad has been a blast, I may have found a new hobby!), and continue to use it for all of my other daily driving. This vehicle has been nothing but superb since the day I first test drove it!!! I love my 4Runner, and if you want a rock solid, reliable, fun, offroad, onroad, workhorse that will last for a long time...you wont be disappointed with this one.

I love this vehicle. I bought the SE and the ride and handling are surprisingly good, the V6 has ample power, the interior is comfortable and stylish. Bar none the best vehicle Ive owned. I dont want to get out from the behind the steering wheel!

I enjoyed every minute of the 14 years with my 2003 4Runner. AWD is great in the snow and also on the beach. Strong acceleration; never felt top-heavy. A truly reliable and comfortable vehicle. If my son was older, Id save it for him, but weve got 9 years to go! Ill be shopping for a 4Runner for him when the time comes.

Nearly 6 years and 60,000 trouble free miles later, this truck is still very solid and drives like new. I take meticulous care of my vehicles and the 4Runner has certainly returned the favor. The interior has held up well and the drivetrain has been bulletproof. Unstoppable in inclement weather and supremely capable on 4WD trails. I purchased this vehicle for its off road prowess and it has never let me down. Very comfortable highway ride with decent handling and fuel economy for a truck based midsize SUV. The 4 speed automatic transmission, though smooth, could use an extra gear. (This changed with the 2005 V6 models however, as a 5 speed auto came standard).

  • BEST OF THE BEST(honest review) - 2003 Toyota 4Runner

What a wonderfully engineered truck. Toyota has raised the bar in the mid suv market. It is the SUV I have been waiting for and it has finally arrived. Waited a year so toyota could work out all first year bugs. It is by far worth every penny and will hold its residual value for years to come. Only SUV that will beat it is the Lexus version.(if you want to pay 10 grand more) Toyota has hit a homerun!!!

We did our homework on researching the best SUV for our needs. We wanted a reliable, well rounded SUV with V8 power for towing and off road performance for Beach driving . We have had no issues with our 4runner and are happy with decision. Gas mileage is 15-19 around town which really is not that bad, plenty of power and a great ride. Dont be fooled this vehicle has outstanding off road performance - it will not get stuck in the sand!

  • Very pleased with the 2003 Runner - 2003 Toyota 4Runner

This SUV does everything Ive asked of it with style and comfort. Its powerful yet smooth. Toyotas racing experience has evidently provided many technology improvements which have been incorporated into their street vehicles. I use it for towing as well as heavy pulling jobs. Handles great in the snow and gravel; smooth as butter on the highway. Has a very solid heavy-duty feel which I expect to last for many years. Pretty good mileage for this big V8. We also own a 1999 Camry, which exhibits its own set of fine qualities. I switched from a Sub Forester; would never go back. The Runner is in a class above the Subaru in all ways.

  • Built like a truck - 2003 Toyota 4Runner

I have had many SUVs over the last 10 years and this one is by far the best. The V8 is silky smooth and the ride is excellent for being built on a truck platform.

I looked at the MDX and was about to buy one, when I saw the 4 Runner. It looked so rugged. The interior was the same quality as the MDX. It had more features then the MDX. The 4 Runner is well thought out. The seating is very comfortable and easy to change. The features are numerous and are easy to use. The V8 engine has a lot of power and runs very smoothly. It has very little lean going around corners. My 4 Runner has the air suspension. It The audio system is wonderfully clear and produces an excellent sound. The SUV handles more like a car than the previous generations of 4 Runners. It is not as Car like as the MDX, but is still Very satisfying.

The V8 supplies a great deal of torque, and even for a vehicle weighing in at over 4000lbs, you definitely will have no problem merging into traffic. The interior is extremely nice and comfortable, and the double-tiered cargo system somewhat compensates for the lack of cargo room in the rear. The exterior is visually pleasing in the limited, and a step-up from the plastic cladding of the SR5 and the Sport Edition which were designed to decrease dings and scratches caused by off-road driving. The Air-Suspension is a must for off-roaders and/or those who will be using the 4Runner for towing.
