  • Over 100,000 miles and no rattles - 2000 Toyota 4Runner
    By -

This is the most dependable vehicle Ive ever driven. When we evacuated NOLA during Hurricane Katrina, we left the vehicle parked in our driveway (we evacuated in my husbands newer model 4-Runner). Mine sat in over a foot of water for at least a week and was hit by flying debris (probably part of our roof). When I started it up three weeks later, the engine turned right over; I was one of the only people on my street who just got in the car and drove it away. Since then, weve dealt with canyon-sized NOLA pot- holes, street debris, and true off- road conditions every day. Not a problem. She has cosmetic battle scars, but not a single rattle. 113,000 miles and going strong.

  • Great SUV - 2000 Toyota 4Runner

We traded our 1994 4Runner for this 2000 Runner. It was in the dealers inventory for several months and seemed to not sell because of the color (Dark Green). We waited until the price dropped and eventually got a great deal. It is a significant upgrade from our 94 in that it has a more advanced 4 wheel drive system, a stronger, quieter engine plus improved creature features.

  • Toyota Strong - 2000 Toyota 4Runner
    By -

This Toyota stands strong to the name it represents. The heritage of Toyota quality is passed on to this automobile. The five-speed manual transmission with the V6 is a fuel friendly, aggressive combination capable of handling suburban traffic entrapments and natures liberating climbs. The interior comprises an appealing approach to functionality and resourcefulness. This model and year is sure to please the toughest of critics.

  • Best vehicle I have ever owned! - 2000 Toyota 4Runner
    By -

I purchased my 2000 4Runner in 2009. At the time it had 100,000 miles on it. Now, at 148,000 miles it is still running strong. Other than routine maintenance and a couple of small repairs, I have had nothing go wrong. I use this truck to haul a boat, as a daily commuting vehicle and it has never failed me. The styling is timeless and, although the ride is a bit rough at times, it is comfortable and very quite. I get about 17-18 mpg around town and 20-21 on the highway - not bad for a SUV. My only gripe is the small gas tank. I can only get about 225-240 miles between fill-ups.

  • Great SUV with a few mods - 2000 Toyota 4Runner
    By -

I was concerned about power so I add the TRD headers and exhaust, Amsoil air filter. These mods along with the 5 speed give it plenty of power and torque. The addition of OME heavy duty shocks and springs, slightly larger tires, and front sway bar quick disconnects create a serious cabable off road machine. Reliablilty is great. I think the air filter and headers may have improved my gas milage. I would highly recommend this SUV to anyone seeking a serious SUV. It rides like a truck. The truck underpinnings contribute to its off road reliablity. There is reason the UN and other aid agencies use Toyotas and Land Rovers in the most remote parts of the world.

  • Bought it new and still love it - 2000 Toyota 4Runner
    By -

We have over 175000 miles on and off paved roads including many miles of Los Angeles freeway stop and go driving. Replaced the brake pads/rotors ONCE and have had another $350 repair at about 150K. About the same time the antenna motor stopped working. Thats it besides regular service. We will have to replace the clutch at some point but thats because Im hard on them.

  • Reliable and Fun - 2000 Toyota 4Runner
    By -

We bought our 4-Runner new. 125K off and on-road miles later we are still happy with it. Most reliable vehicle weve ever owned. Have never had to have any brake work done. Cant stand the looks of the new 4-Runner so were keeping this one until the next body style change.

  • Liking it so far.. - 2000 Toyota 4Runner
    By -

Just bought it (used). The PO had it 35k, no problems. Much easier to drive and manuver than expected. Smooth and quiet for a truck. Required attention when driving in high winds. Driving teens like it alot. I inspected everything pretty good and most parts and components have look surprisingly in good shape. I think I made the right choice.

  • Very happy with mine - 2000 Toyota 4Runner
    By -

Now has 40K. Perfect size for me and my outdoor activities. I wouldnt want to be 6+ in the drivers seat. We take 2 kids camping with adequate room for kids and gear. Firm suspension but I wanted something to take 4 wheelin in the back country in Colorado - excellent there. Drives nice to me on the highway. Rarely need to use FWD in snow storms in the mountains. About 23 MPG from Grand Junction to Denver OVER the rockies / 19-20 around town - great for an SUV. I asked my mechanic about Toyotas before I bought one. Said I wouldnt see him much any more but when I do it will cost me. Good fit and finish, hasnt needed anything but oil changes in 40K.

  • I love this car! - 2000 Toyota 4Runner
    By -

Ive had this car for almost eight years. I have never, ever had a problem. I just take it in for regular oil changes and have done the 30K, 60K, and 90K maintenance. The only flaws in this car are cosmetic and were my own doing. I live in Oklahoma and have driven it to Las Vegas, New Orleans, the Texas coast, Rocky mountains in Colorado, and back and forth to Kansas hundreds of times. The fuel economy is reasonable given the size of the vehicle. I will have a hard time giving her up.
