This SUV drives better than any SUV on the market

First SUV/truck after one corolla and three Camrys. An awesome vehicle. Well balanced, very quiet, built like a bank vault and has put the kick back in driving for me.

  • Exceeds My Expectations - 2005 Toyota 4Runner

After an exhaustive SUV search I finally purchased a Sport V8 with sunroof, DD cargo liner, leather, spoiler and JBL system. I am most surprised at the vehicle ride quality. The XREAS suspension is a must have. It delivers about the same ride quality without the body-roll. My other vehicle is a BMW and this 4Runner is equally as fun to corner. I liked the pathfinder, but the fit and finish put the 4Runner over the top (too many rough-edged plastic materials in the pathy). The V8 is powerful as expected (its an ANIMAL), but also gives the truck a solid, heavier (in a good way), silky smooth acceleration.

Well built. My disappointment is with the fuel economy. The range I get has never been more than 380 miles @ an average of 17-18 miles/gl. I actually get higher mileage in town than on the highway. I can sometimes get up to 20 miles/gl in town, but never more than 18 on the highway.

The Limited 4 Runner is the best SUV of the three that I have owned. The others were a Ford Explorer, Jeep Grand Cherokee and GMC. Toyota is a much tighter, quieter and better handling vehicle.

We have owned this vehicle while living in Minneapolis, MN and Memphis, TN. It performed well in both climates, but better in the south. It makes some funky noises when starting on cold Minnesota mornings. It seems fussy about the quality of gas you use, the idle is a bit rough occasionally. I assume this is from lower quality gasoline, but I dont know this for sure. We had no problem accelerating or stopping with a 2600 pound boat in tow. I recommend this for people looking at tow vehicles. I love opening all the windows and roof on nice summer days. Our sunroof just recently got stuck wide open - just in time for a snowstorm! No other maint. issues.

  • Not up to par for Toyota - 2005 Toyota 4Runner

Not a better vehicle of this type and quality for the money. Good ride. Decent mileage (21 combined). Still I have come to expect flawless engineering and performance from Toyota. This 4Runner lacks the consistant fit finish and performance of my Toyotas past (and current). The speedomoter is -7 mph off. The temperature is very hard to stabilize. Wind noise from the moon roof. The transmission heats console which is always very warm. The dash vents constantly flow hot air. Sensor broke 300 miles after warranty $265.

A great vehicle at a great price. After much research, this was the choice for me, and no regrets! I opted for the new third row seating, and what a blessing. It is easily the nicest vehicle I have ever owned, and the build quality is like that of cars and SUVs costing thousands more. Even in SR5 trim, the thing is pretty much loaded, and the ride comfort and creature features for a 4x4 cant be beat.

I own a SR5 V6 FWD 4Runner fully loaded. The very first thing I noticed when I drove the Toyota 4Runner for the first time was its quite and smooth ride, (my sister owns a Lexus GX470) and it rides exactly like her Lexus. It is power full, great gas mileage 21 in town, 26 hwy, great off road it will climb any thing and I love the down hill assit control. It is the first FWD that I owned that is so smart this FWD REALLY helps you from getting into trouble by all the safety features, also great in the snow and ice again it helps you from getting into trouble. The interior is also well put together very comfortable seating for the driver and passenger and all the controls are well placed.
