  Went from Honda CRV to Outback with lane change technology. Drives like larger vehicle. Lots of power.

  recalled after one week of ownership - 2016 Subaru Outback

  We owned this car for a week and it has been recalled for a steering column defect. Subaru did the right thing with the recall and they gave us a rental car, but it has been four weeks and they keep saying we are waiting for the part. I hope this review draws attention to the problem. Follow up--It has been 25 days since our defective car was taken to the dealer. They told me it would take a week to 10 days to fix this. The car is now repaired. After 4 weeks I called the dealer and mentioned I posted on Edmunds. That seemed to get their attention and the car is fixed. THANK YOU

  Great overall car with just a couple design issues - 2016 Subaru Outback

  I really like my 2016 Subaru Outback. It rides very well, even in the rain. Its roomy, comfortable, great family car, and reasonably priced. The safety features cant be beat. P.S. If you have an iPod Classic, dont try to get it to work with the infotainment system - it wont! Just buy an iPod touch. Pros: Drives like it is on dry pavement, even in the rain. Eyesight features are great (cruise control that speeds up/slows down as needed to keep a safe distance from other cars, automatic braking to avoid collisions) Cons: Acceleration from a stop is not smooth. Climate control layout could be better (2 buttons for the fan instead of a dial?) Infotainment system wont work with an iPod Classic.

  Love this car - 2016 Subaru Outback

  2016 Outback Limited with Eyesight and Navigation. Four Cylinder. We just completed a long trip SW Florida to Morganton NC, to Phoenix, AZ then back to Florida on I-10 E to I 75 S. Really like the 18.5 Gallon gas tank. Gives us a lot of range. Comfortable feeling when driving on some of those roads out west with gas stations few and far between. I agree most of the previous contents so I will not repeat. RE 4 cylinders vs 6. We did not feel deprived at all for lack of the 6. I would not buy the 6 just for the pickup but if it rode better and quieter, I would definitely consider it. Starlink was useless to us on the trip. We listen to talking books downloaded from our library to a cell phone. We then use bluetooth to listen on car radio. Starlink would not work in that situation. It seems now that give a 3 year subscription to Sirius radio. That is good if only to stop the annoying calls and e-mails from them if you do not renew. We only got a 30 day free trial. Generally like the Nav except that I detest the fact that the Voice Guidance cannot be turned OFF. I anything that is dangerous because when travelling at speed on an interstate at highers speeds by the time the voice tells you to take a turn in xxx feet, it is too late to do anything about it if you rely only on the voice. Looking to buy another one so that we have two. Our older 2007 Toyota Avalon Limited runs well but lacks the safety features like eyesight, backup camera. It does have the dynamic cruise control which is almost never used because it it not smooth like the Subarus. Will probably buy the 2017 Touring which inclueds what we like as standard. After reading some of the other comments, I will also evaluate the 6 cylinder to see if it does ride better.

  Just the right mix - 2016 Subaru Outback

  Outback brings all the good factors of a wagon and a suv into one platform. The safety features are without peer. The handling on the road says its ready for long distance excursions. The visibility exceeds other cars we have owned. Looking forward to many road days in the years to come.

  Great Car, couple minor shortfalls - 2016 Subaru Outback

  Ive only driven the car for 1500 miles, but 1000 of that was in a single trip. The more I drive the car the more I like it. Its comfortable, smooth, solid and enjoyable. The nav system is excellent, the eyesight system is very functional, and the cruise control system is amazing. The only drawbacks are well known, often written about, and fairly minor. There is more wind noise above 70 MPH than in my 2011 Outback. I think this comes from the rack, but cant be sure - its a rumble and not from the wing window that apparently was a problem on the 2015 models. Its not bad, just a little irritating. When shifting from reverse to drive there is a longer pause than seems appropriate. This isnt really bad either, but is something Ive had to get accustomed to when backing into traffic. For about 1 or 2 seconds, you arent going anywhere. The last slight irritation is the 2.5L motor. In most instances it has sufficient get-up-and-go. When trying to accelerate quickly on the freeway or on a busy city street it can be a bit of a dog. Nothing huge though and only slightly worse than my 2011. All in all, I love the car and hope to keep it for ever.

  Great safety features but not all are standard features so you will need to pay extra for them. I have a young child and a lot of children in the neighborhood so the safety features & back-up camera were very important to me and well worth the cost. I previously owned a Volvo XC70. In comparison, the interior is a little roomier but the material is a little lower quality & not as luxurious. Visibility for me is much better and I like that the vehicle rides a little higher but not quite as high a SUV. I have had the car for a only month and so far I have had no maintenance issues. The car, at first, was a little "jerky" when starting for a stop and it just took a little time to get used to the "touch" on the accelerator. All in all I really like the car. The gas mileage isnt great with the 3.6 engine but its still better than my Volvo.

  We purchased this Outback to replace our 2009 Rav4 Sport (a great SUV) but the ride was a little stiff this Subaru has a ride of a car and is so comfortable i would recommend it to anyone
