Perfect car - 2012 Subaru Outback
By jstrap - November 30 - 4:45 pmI traded in my 2008 camry for a 2012 outback and Im extremely happy with it. The level of comfort and smooth ride matches the camry only it sits up a little higher. I went through a broker so I didnt get my first choice in color but got a great deal. For $22.8k you cant beat it. The base stereo is satisfactory and its not quite as quick as the camry but its a lot of fun to drive and has AWD which comes in pretty handy in Colorado. This is the best car Ive owned.

The Outback, great choice in this segment - 2012 Subaru Outback
By lou90 - November 11 - 6:34 pmI own the wagon 2.5 with CVT and I can say that Im very happy with my purchase. With over 3 K right now, I havent found anything that I dont like or didnt expect in a Wagon-SUV in this segment. I almost go for the new 2012 Honda CRV, but I dont regret my decision. Its solid and comfortable, enough room in both front and rear seat, plenty of cargo space, has style and a great history of reliability. A little noisy because of the CVT, but I could live with that as long as Im getting fuel efficiency and this seems to be the case since Ive been averaging (mostly highway) from 27 to 31 MPG not bad if you consider the size of this car and that many times you cant drive at less than 70 miles on NJ highways, otherwise they run over you. Ive been to several shows where I was able to see and compare others SUV like Toyota Venza or RAV4, the CRV, or the Forester , Im glad I chose the Outback. I highly recommend it.

Poor Gas Mileage - 2012 Subaru Outback
By jayarobinson79 - September 28 - 10:47 amI love my subaru outback but the only issue is that I get 21-23 mpg and I mostly drive highways. My dealer acknowledges the low mpg but says it is within specs. Other than that, the car is great to drive, comfortable on long trips, and the kids enjoy the ride.

Snow Gobbler off roader - 2012 Subaru Outback
By John - May 19 - 9:23 pmSo far the Outback 3.6R - 5 speed trans Limited w/nav. is a gem. No problems just maint. Ice cold air, MPG avg 26+ - hwy around 30+ smooth ride, quiet engine, snow gobbler and easy to drive. Keeping this car for another 5 years or longer. Have a 2013 Legacy limited 2.5i and it was flawless and just as good. Big front seats, quality leather; the black leather looks as good as it did in 2012. Paint is shiny. Glad I purchased the Outback over the other FWD V6 brands this car cant be compared to other vehicles its in a class of its own. The H6 is so smooth and quiet its a pleasure to drive. What is really fun is the turning radius you can do circles with it...

Steeriing problem at highway speeds - 2012 Subaru Outback
By ouchback - March 14 - 8:22 pmAre you in the market to buy a new Outback? If you are then dont act until you have read about the steering wandering at highway speeds. Go to subaruoutbackdotorg and do a search on wandering. There are lots of posts about this problem. We just bought a new 2012 (1800 miles now) and our car wanders at highway speed (50_ MPH). You have to constantly make corrections to keep the car on track. Very tiring after a while and dangerous at times. I would not have bought this car if I had known about this problem. I hope Subaru does a recall and fix this issue.

Best Subaru Yet - 2012 Subaru Outback
By Greg B. - February 27 - 12:14 amThis is our 7th Subaru. We bought our first in 1982 and they just keep getting better. Would highly recommend these cars to anyone. Wish Subaru could hold the line on pricing though. They go up in price every year while my paycheck does not.

DO NOT BUY THIS CAR! - 2012 Subaru Outback
By Anonymous - January 10 - 3:31 amAround 120,000 miles everything major breaks and cost BIG $$ to fix. In 4 months we have had to sink $6,000 into this car to replace the clutch, head gasket, thermostat, etc. We bought this car new in 2012 because Subarus are known to last for 200,000-300,000 miles and we intended to keep it for a while. Normal repairs and upkeep are expected but this many MAJOR repairs in such a short period of time right after it turns over 120,000 miles is NOT right. Also, 80-90% of the 124,000 miles we have put on the car are highway miles. We will N.E.V.E.R. buy another Subaru.
