  • Buyers Remorse! - 2016 Subaru Outback

Ive had my Outback about a month & have buyers remorse! Im 54" & the seats are very uncomfortable, and my passengers have complained about this as well. Its acceleration is noisy, but the car is pretty quiet once a steady speed is reached. The Outback only gets 21 mpg in the city & 23 mpg on the highway, which is very disappointing! The automatic trunk release on the clicker is convenient. The exterior mirror has an small indicator, which lights up when someone is in the cars blind spot. It would be nice if a button or turn signal would also show the blind spot area on the interior camera. It doesnt come with a key fob & push button start which would really be convenient, so I suggest Subaru engineers add those in future models. Im strongly considering selling my brand new car. Im so disappointed with the Subaru Outback! I should have spent my $32,000 on a Honda CRV or the Chrysler 300!

I have been through a number of cars in my life...from little Mercedes convertible roadster to big Jeep Wrangler and everything in between. The Outback without a doubt is proving to be my favorite all-rounder. It handles much better than one might think so you get a real drivers experience. Its true that with the 4 cylinder you are not going to win any drag races BUT it has more than enough power to get me moving along at a good clip. The trade off is great mileage for my long commute! This is the first car that Ive been able to sit in comfortably for hours on end due to the seating, and during Snowmaggedon this vehicle was simply worth its weight in gold. I dare say the Outback performed better on the snow covered roads than my Jeep, and definitely better on wet roads. It has a TON of room in it, both for passengers and cargo. Im 6 3" with room to spare in the front and back seats. Interior is quiet and comfortable. And from what my research shows, this car is going to have a great resale value when I decide to get my next Outback!

  • Perfect all around vehicle! - 2016 Subaru Outback

I only have a couple hundred miles on the car, but this is everything I hoped for. I have previously been a VW, BMW, Acura owner and this vehicle is my favorite so far. It provides a perfect blend of utility, comfort, safety and economy. I dont live in a hilly area, and dont pull weight so the 2.5i is plenty of power, and I prefer the few MPG you gain. I also went with the PZEV... a few hundred to have peace of mind that Im doing my part in polluting less. No complaints with the car at all, Im very happy with the purchase!

The only beef I have with my Outback is how it takes a few seconds for the transmission to engage when going from reverse to drive, and the acceleration is a little abrupt. Otherwise I am loving it. The ride, gas mileage, performance, comfort accessories etc are all great. Its a lot of car for the money.

Careful of the dealer insurance add ons when you sit down with the finance guy. They can add up quickly.

Love this Subaru 2016 Limited that we purchased 6/30/2016. Roomy, handles well, great interior and technology features. Already taken it on one long road trip and also to the beach...so nice to have all that extra cargo space for our gear. Passengers loved the leg room and their comfy seats. Only thing I can negatively mention is that road noise is not as quiet as my BMW but few cars would be. I am VERY happy with my purchase of this car and look forward to many years of enjoying my Subaru.

  • Steering: - 2016 Subaru Outback

It seems that the Outback has a tendency to drift from one side to the other. It requires constant correction and on a long trip steering becomes tiresome. I have contacted the dealership about this problem and the conclusion is that it is a characteristic of the Outback. Everything else about the car is great and the problem doesnt seem to bother other people but it does me. My 1999 Dodge pickup is easier to hold in a straight line than my 2015 Outback.

I looked at several other vehicles including the Forester, Hyundai Sport, Volvo X60, VW Tiguan and the Audi Q5. In the end the Outback seemed a much more logical choice for the money. The Outback rode a little better than the Forester and Tiguan, but the Audi Q5 was indeed a nicer vehicle, but at a much greater cost. The Subaru Outback Limited was a loaded vehicle and really liked the latest safety equipment provided. We immediately drove the vehicle from Houston to KC and hit some of the worst rainstorms wed ever been in. There were even tornados. The vehicle handled marvelously and was always sure-footed. The front and back seats were both very comfortable for four adults and handled all of our luggage. The HID lighting was not available, but I will get after-market which is a nice option when driving on old blacktop roads. The only other item not available was a front passenger seat memory & height adjustment. It can be difficult for over 6 ft people when the seat cant be lowered. The engine is very smooth with the transmission, but definitely could use a few more ponies under the hood. However, the trade-off with the 6 cylinder didnt really work for us. There wasnt a big difference in power in the lower range and the mileage dropped quite a bit - as do most larger engines. The Turbo 4 cylinder as in the Forester would be a welcomed option indeed. We did end up getting an extended warranty due to all the electronic equipment on this model. (not shown in total price)
